I’m looking to grab Division 2 during this sale. For someone more familiar with the game, is it worth grabbing one of the editions beyond the standard? It seems like a lot of the Year 1 Pass stuff was timed based on the PS Store description of its contents, and is now largely irrelevant.

Keep in mind that a $30 expansion was just announced and this might be a similar situation to how Destiny's Taken King expansion made the base game irrelevant. For all we know, there'll be a new physical edition down the road that's more "complete".

I’m fine with that at $2.99. If I like it that much I’ll upgrade in some capacity in the future to whatever the new expansion is. I’m more commenting on whether it’s worth another $12-$15 to go from standard to one of the other editions that has the current DLC content from Year 1.

The only benefit of physical over digital, is that if you cut your console off from the internet, and never download any patches, you can play the original versions of games, glitches, exploits, and everything. It's the only way to play the launch version of No Man's Sky on PS4. Not that I really understand why anybody would want to do that. But, it's only an option if you own the disc.

I routinely sell on eBay the physical copies I buy and play for 50-75% of what I paid. Heck, sometimes I make all of my money back. I’ll never go all digital unless it’s forced on me. Maybe it’s good for people that play games several times over, or for people that play games like fortnite or overwatch, but it doesn’t even come close to making sense for me. I don’t understand why anyone would want to go all digital from a financial perspective.

This right here is coming sooner rather than later. Remember what MS wanted to do to and failed miserably?

The console manufacturers would very much like to revisit this and eliminate the used market altogether. With GS fading, now might be the time.

The consoles are more "pc like" going forward and so shall their games become.

It will start with disc installation and codes, then become a box/card with a code.

I wouldn't be surprised if PS5 and XboxSX have one time use codes during disc installation and officially end the used market altogether.

i think if sony had any kind of decent cloud solution other than piggybacking microsoft, there would not even be another generation of consoles. microsoft is absolutely right on one point, you leave alot of money on the table when you force your games onto a specific piece of hardware.

This. I do the same with my games (eBay when finished with them) and by being a CAG and never paying full price for games, I not only usually make my money back I might even make a buck or two on it. Swapping discs is worth it to me when I can recoup my costs for a game I know I’ll never play again.

Unfortunately, I believe you’re right. They’d love to cut out the retailers so whatever margin there is fully goes to Sony/MS/whomever. My problem is that I can’t justify paying $60 for a new release knowing I won’t be getting my “rebate” when I sell it on eBay, so I’ll be stuck waiting for a price I can live with, which could be years after a game releases. Hopefully, physical lasts for another console generation or two...

Swapping discs is worth it to me when I can recoup my costs for a game I know I’ll never play again.
Oh yeah, for sure. The times I actually make money on a game (bc I’m CAG’ing, myself) I always joke with my wife that I got paid to play my games 😂

Lol looked at it yesterday and didnt realise its $2.99 I'll buy it just because of that. Doubt I play it but still cant beat that price playing it solo.

Definitely not the only benefit, but that is certainly a benefit. With disc copies, you can always drop down to the original release, which is a plus when it comes to some games. Vampyr, for example, has a cheat that can give you unlimited experience points. It was removed in a later patch. But if you have the disc, you can pop-in in when starting up, deny the update, get your xp, and then patch and play to your heart's content.

Meanwhile, a game like Mortal Blitz, made the Platinum damn near impossible to obtain due to a patch. There is a trophy requiring you to complete the game on all difficulties. Release version of the game wasn't that problematic. But in version 1.03 or so, they added an Ultra Hard Difficulty that is near impossible for most people, and the trophy doesn't exclude that difficulty. So whereas those who never updated their game would have only needed to complete the game on Easy, Normal and Hard, anyone whose game was patched before getting that trophy now needed to complete the Ultra Hard difficulty. Needless to say, if the game had been released on disc, you could have dropped down to version 1.0 to get it. But since it's download-only, no such luck.

Surely it will. They tried this crap during the PS3 era with the online passes and we see how that spectacularly failed.

As a gamer who avidly supported physical only games for the longest time, I recently decided to go full digital and started selling off all my physical games.  Best decision I ever made.  Not to mention the ease of buying games I want and getting excellent prices when you pair the discounts with cheap PSN cards, you can't beat it.  Only reason I really hung onto physical for so long was because I still had GCU.  Now that it is expired, digital only.

I have nothing against digital specifically just the cons others have mentioned.  Game download sizes are pretty large.  The ps4 is significantly faster than the hilariously slow ps3 was at least.  But I generally don't prefer having to leave my system on or in rest mode over night or for an extended period just to download a game, update/patch. Ignoring occasions where something happens and the download isn't complete so you have to redownload it again. And I have half decent internet.  I can't imagine how people with worse internet handle it.

The pricing is the biggest thing that typically keeps me from buying a digital game.  Psn and such do have amazing deals every now and then though.  1 buck or lower games by themselves is damn impressive even if its mostly retro stuff or indie titles.  Like superbeat xonic on the switch and spyro and crash on ps3/vita/psp.  Nowadays I don't buy as much on psn as I used to.  Especially since psn cards from pcgamesupply don't go on sale much anymore and sony doesn't hand out those coupon codes even for buying a system.

They can always remove a digital purchase from my account by flipping a switch, but they'll have to break into my house and steal my discs to remove my physical copies.
I'm honestly way more worried about losing my physical games if my house burns down or gets blown away in a tornado than ever getting a digital license revoked.

If all prices were equal, I would go 100% digital. It's just more convenient, reduces clutter and if a disaster befalls my dwelling I only need to try to save my console instead of a bunch of discs. :D

This game is very underrated. It might be the "worst" Bioshock, but it's still better than 95% of other games out there.
No chance. Infinite is the worst Bioshock by a mile. One of the most overrated games ever. It shouldn't even be a Bioshock game. Bioshock 2 is highly underrated. The DLC is amazing as well.

If a disaster strikes you dont really need to save your console. You can just buy another and redownload your collection instead of rebuying them. Ps2 days I remember my games getting stolen and I had to buy them again with my allowance. Never was able to rebuy them all back "good by surfing h2o". Also on ps3 my lens got busted and I had to put the disc in a certain way to make it work and then it died. I remember disc issues on Wii and 360 back then as well. Safer bet would be digital besides I can't really see Sony disappearing anytime soon they'll be here for along time and even if they did shut down I dont think there server would be 100% gone. If you still wanna do physical then just get the games you favor most.

This post was terrible until it redeemed itself in the end. :)

Infinite is great. Possibly overrated, but still great. My only hope is that more Bioshock games will come that are at least as good as Infinite.

Just realized Sony is doing their idiotic pricing again with the remastered Yakuza games.   They're selling 3, 4 & 5 for $24.99 each, meanwhile the digital and physical copies of the remastered collection are $15 less if you just buy that.

seems normal to me. that's the point in offering a collection / bundle.
This is why I typically use the quote function when I respond to people here, since they can stealth edit their posts and make your response seem nonsensical.

tangytangerine's original post was phrased where they were saying Sony was "selling 3-5 for $24.99", which makes that sound like a bundle price, and that's what gospelman was responding to.

Personally, while I do like having the ability to fix typos and fix grammatical mistakes I catch later, as well as being able to add to a post rather than having to post a second time in a row, I would much prefer it if this forum removed the edit ability entirely.

Edit: And if I do edit a post to add more information or clarify something after people have already responded to me, I do so at the bottom like this to make it clear what I am doing.

Just a heads up for everyone waiting for them to fix the Resident Evil 2 All In-Game Unlock DLC that was supposed to be on sale for $1.99.  They're not going to.  Instead, after people (including me) contacted them about it, they went back and edited the PS Blog post about the sale to remove it from the list with a note that says, "Update 2/13/20: This post has been revised to more accurately reflect PlayStation Store offerings and prices."

I guess you win some, you lose some.

Question. Did you play the burial at sea dlc? Because it absolutely is Bioshock and ties everything together quite well I feel. Is it overrated? Yeah, some. But it's still better than a lot of FPS out there.

Well that sucks

I did, and that was the only part of Infinite I liked.

Why do you think it's so great as a shooter? The combat was completely rote. Combat scenarios were so predictable due to the tears. Every time you entered a room or area with tears you knew what was coming. The tonics or whatever were nowhere near as clever as the original game. Most were downright boring. The story was terrible. Alternate timelines has been done so many times before. Burial at Sea was very good, but it was like five hours of content when you combined both parts.

The best part about Bioshock 2 was Minerva's Den. Couldn't care less about the main game - played it once at release and that's it.

Wtf I forgot all about Minerva's den and burial by the sea because I just played the base games on ps3. Does anyone know if you can download either by themselves from the ps+ bundle? Does it at least allow you to download each major Bioshock release separately?

I think I might pass on the division 2, I probably wont even play it and if I did in the future servers might be shut down and I dont wanna rely on others to help me get through as from what I read.

Outriders looks like a game I would play with some friends after it dropped heavily to likely less than $20 within 2-3 months. You may as well get Division 2 and likely get a similar experience for $3 or such. I need to play my copy before I cannot anymore.

I'm considering passing on the Division 2 as well...trying to decide if the single player is worth my time. $3 is a great price as long as I play it and it doesn't just collect digital dust.

This is a GaaS game...once the new content drops it's pay $30 or don't bother beyond the campaign imo.

I've already had my fill of GaaS so I know that the "end game grind" is not what I am looking for personally...too much commitment and minimal interest in grouping up with others due to scheduling inconvenience.

Any opinions on whether the single player campaign is worth the time to play it?

I have young kids so free time is quite limited at the moment.

I know this is a predictable response, but it's THREE DOLLARS. How much time do you have to put into it to make it worth it? I got it day one so I think it's a steal. I only play single player and like being able to hop on after the kids are asleep and either knock out a mission or two or just look around for loot. Sure you may enjoy other types of games more depending on if you have a backlog, but for the price of a Happy Meal to me it's a no-brainer.

Thank you for the response, but perhaps I didn't pose my question clearly. Forget about the $3...is it worth my limited free time to play for just single player? I assume your answer is yes, but wouldn't mind others opinions as well.

I remember trying to play the original Rainbow 6 way back in the day and it was one of the most frustrating experiences ever. It was like you and your squad had this specific pattern you were supposed to follow, like some kind of football play, and if you deviated from it even slightly, you failed the level and needed to start over. As someone who was used to playing games like Doom, Duke, Unreal Tournament and Starseige Tribes, playing R6 felt less like a FPS and more like a point-to-point walking sim. I wanted to run in guns blazing and instead I had to depend on my squads movement because God-Forbid I take a step ahead when I'm not supposed to and the mission failed.  Ever since then, I never trusted a Tom Clancy game. I don't know if The Division follows a similar formula or allows you to actually play like normal FPS games, but that it appears to be an online-only game doesn't help win me over. If I started playing it, I would feel pressured to get the plat, and even at $3, that looks like a huge commitment from a series that hasn't endeared itself to me so far.

I just finished this game 100% last night. Took me 2 months and my save was at 166 hours lol. Gold edition is a fantastic value, that's a lot of game plus ac3 and liberation remasters. As far as the dlc, yeah legacy was just meh, but the fate of Atlantis is really good. Just like origins with hidden ones and curse of the pharoahs.
Thanks I bought AC Odyessey Gold because of this post. AC III was one of my favorite Assassin's Creed games and I never played any of the DLC. Replaying it now and it's still fun. I am going to be grinding on this bundle for a while lol.

For what it's worth, Rainbow six games have been more FPS and less strategy since 360/ps3 days. Maybe even before that

I'm considering The Division 2 for $2.99, even though I never played the first one and I probably won't get to this one for awhile due to what I've read about the install size. I'd also be buying just for single player, but I enjoy loot collecting games like Diablo and Borderlands so maybe this is right up my alley despite the difference in genres.
