It's not too difficult. Depending on age I guess if you played old NES or SNES games where you had to memorize patterns and such. It has a sort of easier mode you can play on as well, just can't get all the stars.

When’s the last time either of those genres has been a Plus title? Nioh, last year if you are counting ARPGs maybe? Steins Gate on PS3 2 years ago? The offerings have gotten less interesting for VN/RPG fans since they got rid of PS3 and Vita titles. How naive many of us were to think they might make up for it with a third offering if VR/niche games.

I agree with that. I was just thinking that I would buy Sega CD or 32X-style add-ons if they were properly supported and had many games I wanted. New hardware shouldn't have cross-generational games.

Good point I suppose, but that came out Mar 2014.

I guess I would just rather they wait to launch the consoles until there are a group of next gen exclusive games ready to go (1st and 3rd party) instead of cross gen games that are just last gen games uprezzed with better frame rates.

Receiving VNs was previously a very frequent occurrence with games like Steins;Gate, Burly Men at Sea, 2064: Read Only Memories, Zero Time Dilemma, and Psycho-Pass given out in just 2018. If they begin giving free PS5 games with PS+, perhaps the PS4 offerings will switch to being niche titles.

The source I've seen cited for this on every article is a bit dubious, allegedly coming from a Taiwanese factory that is helping with manufacturing. I really doubt Sony has even internally declared how long until the PS6 or how many units they will ship lifetime for the PS5, it would be jumping the gun to make any decisions like that before a single console is sold. It also contradicts what Sony has said publicly: "'The life-cycle of the PlayStation 5 should last for at least “six to seven years,' according to Sony’s Masayasu Ito"

Maybe it's just me, but 5 years seems too short. Many people don't even buy a console until the price drops a few years later, and by that time it's just another year or so before they start talking about the next one in this case.

Me too. I'm happy with the PS4 Pro. I think the PS5 should have waited til 4K 60FPS was guaranteed.

I suspect that once you get used to the storage performance/load times of the next generation, it will be difficult to go back. But yeah, the current gen Pro/X offerings aren't bad at all.

I bought EDF 4.1 to play with my daughter just to try it to see if we'd like it. We ended up playing the heck out of it and I ended up buying EDF5 Deluxe as soon as it hit a sale in PSN Store. The split screen co-op was an awesome time. The only two packs worth getting are the mission packs. The DLC weapons are unique but only useful if you're playing on easy or normal difficulty. You get the best weapons and most armor from playing later levels on Inferno difficulty. There are some YouTube vids that will help a bit even if you're just starting out.

I got it cheap and loved it, but nowadays I only play EDF 5. I think it's better to just get that one instead.

I was about to say this. The thing I hate the most of current gen systems is the loading of the games. Some are just ridiculous, especially the earlier games of this generation. i probably wont turn on the PS4 after I get the PS5 to avoid the damn loading screens.

Load times for games like Anthem or Jedi Fallen Order were already so bad that it got irritating. I’m curious to see how much worse they’ll seem after we experience next gen.

I threw a SSD in my PRO about 6 months ago, and loading screens are so much shorter, it is insane.  Wish I had gone the SSD route sooner instead of using a Hybrid drive.

Really though, if you're going to play solo, it blows. Only way to get anywhere on harder difficulties is to kite as Wing Diver, which gets old fast.

I’ve loved every Soulsborne game since Demon’s came out - platinum’d then all! - and was so disappointed with Sekiro for so many reasons: an extremely unsatisfying parry system, no character building, no leveling up, too linear. Some good designs but overall, Sekiro is too far away from the Soulsborne recipe to compete with those games.

I agree and miss the gens like the ps2 which seemed to last forever. now it seems like you get a new system every few years or an updated version of the system. How many iterations did they do of the 3ds? 9? original, xl, 2ds, galaxy, galaxy xl, new 3ds, new 3ds xl, new 2ds and new 2ds xl off the top of my head.

I second this. I put a 2tb SSD in my PS4 Pro when my SSHD died last year. Blazing speeds. Load times may be instantaneous like the PS5 claims to be, but it's still almost night and day from a non-SSD.

I remember a definite change from VHS to DVD, since I was using a CRT television at the time I got my PS2 and could now play DVDs. But I didn't notice a change from DVD to Blu-Ray at first. It wasn't until I got a flat screen when I noticed all the compression issues with DVD that BR didn't have. Switched to BR and can barely watch DVDs now. As of right now, I don't see a difference between BR and 4K, though, but that could be because my 4K TV doesn't support HDR. So I really only buy 4K discs now if it's a better transfer than what's on BR (or if buying the 4K is cheaper.)
