I had the same one. 3D was a lot of fun (both for movies and gaming), but it was ultimately a novelty for me and too much of a hassle to set it up, find glasses, replace batteries in glasses since it had been months since they were last used, etc. Kind of like PSVR. Really hoping for the day that 3D and VR are about as simple as sitting down and turning on the TV.

 
the problem with technology is its too fast for itself. so many cutting edge things that are really a huge hassle. by the time they simplify it theres a new craze about some other bullshit.

i went to a market yesterday and they were all: just tap your credit card to pay, its easy! ok try again, wait try again, ok forget it just swipe it.

I visit Singapore frequently, and they’ve been using contactless credit card payment terminals all over the place for like three years now and it just works. It’s weird coming back home and there are still places that don’t even have chip payments.

What's weird about this to me is - tap to pay isn't even new tech. It's been around for at least a decade or so. I remember getting a debit card with PayPass, and my dad flipping TF out because he was concerned someone would be walking around his grocery store, scanning people's cards across the aisles.

Eventually everyone in the immediate family got some form of metal wallet because it blocks the signal from the embedded chip because he was always concerned about it.

 
So many people went nuts over "4K!! Resolution!" but the real revolution was the HDR and expanded color gambit.

The storefront is closed, but you can still access it. While you can't buy games through it, you can still access your download list and get your games from it. Any new games you buy (through whatever other platform) will also update into that list and be accessible.

Hell, I just did it a week ago to download a bunch of PS1 classics. PSP memory is much cheaper than Vita memory.

 
I have what I think is the last 65" LG OLED that had 3D and is curved.  I love this TV and really don't see much a need to upgrade except I want to go bigger and get the updated HDMI and HDR standards.  I'll be looking for a 75" OLED this black Friday on the cheap.  That said MicroLED is the holy grail, all the benefits of OLED without the screen retention and burn in, and should be hitting the market soon and that will make all current tech obsolete.

It's so frustrating that 1&2 Reload has a measly 50% discount when 3 is so cheap.
Spike Chunsoft needs to just give all their Vita -> PS4 ports a deep discount.
 
I think it's because there's a fire sale going on with the third one.  They are losing the rights to sell the third game after this sale is over and will be removing it from storefronts (along with other titles), so they're trying to get the most sales as they can before they delist it.  They're not losing the rights to 1&2 so they don't have to decrease the price of that one as much.

 
Maybe I should also mention that I've never owned a TV before. So, that's why I was thinking of getting an 8K one. I've always played my consoles on TVs owned by my parents, or my brother. I've never had a TV of my own before. Obviously, I'm going to wait until Black Friday or possibly later to get one, but $2,500 for an 85 inch 8K TV just sounded like an amazing deal.

I paid $2,200 for a non-HDR 4K TV back in 2016 and I thought that was an awesome deal then too lol. Better to wait or get an amazing 4K TV IMO.

must be whatever neck of the woods you are in as even my area the card tap thing is easy for my amazon card. And they even gave me a credit for 5$ each time I used it on a purchase of 15$ or more back when it first came out.

It's also not as if many cards don't have reading issues for the swipe or chip either.

You guys still use cards? I can just have them scan a barcode on my phone. And, some places let me tap my phone for payment.
 
My 5yr old is going to dig Lucky’s Tale! He played a trial of it in Target a while back on Switch and loved it.

It's a great TV, the new series 8s are rumored to be released this fall so probably clearing out the old models.

I can't speak for that specific TV, but I was very dissatisfied with my TCL 36-ish Roku TV. Only lasted 2.5 yrs and for the last one-plus year, I had to unplug and replug all the cords in the back every two days as the screen would be way too dark to see anything other than a ghost image. Then it would fine until it acted up again. Bought a new LG TV with the same wires and it works fine so it was the TCL that was bad.
 
I too had a TCL that was pretty doo doo bunz. It would just randomly shut itself off all the time and we'd have to unplug it completely to reset it and get it to turn back on.
 
Apparently the quality of TCL TVs are getting better. But, I'd rather buy a name brand, just because I heard that TCL's customer service when you have issues is awful.
 
Can someone please tell me why 720p TVs are still for sale? Before you say 32" TVs don't benefit from higher resolution, then why do computer monitors that are 24" come in 4k? You would think that all TVs for sale by now would be a minimum of 4k. /rant over

Yep. When we moved in to our current house I bought a 55 inch TCL for my game room and it was great. So I decided to buy a 65 inch TCL for our living room. I get the first one delivered from Best Buy and I open it and there is a crack in the screen even though there is zero damage to the box. They then redeliver me another one and same thing except the crack is in another area of the screen. At this point they think I'm breaking the screens when literally all I'm doing is lifting off the top of the box and not even moving the tv from where they deliver it. So I tell them when they come out a third time I need their delivery team to unpack it to check. Sure enough they show up with the third one and start unboxing it and it has a giant bubble inside the screen. After 3 trys I figured I wasn't meant to have that tv so I went with a Sony instead. Been super happy with the Sony also.

I thought the original version was really dang fun personally, assuming you're into 3D platformers of course. From my understanding the New version is even more refined and polished. I'm def gonna pick it up when it gets cheap.

 
Count me in the list of folks with a TCL (P607) and have been very happy with my purchase. Think it’s coming on three years now with no issues and great picture.
 
I think it's the cheaper edge lit TCLs that are bringing down the brand.  The P series, 6 series and 8 series are quality sets.  I'd be all over the deal posted in this thread, but OLED is so superior to LED I just couldn't see using it as my main room TV, but $1500 for a mini-led fald 75" TV, tough not to jump on.

As for Super Lucky's Tail, the game is a lot of fun.  I just got all the achievements for the old version + dlc on Xbox.  And since this version was added to Game Pass I think I'll go through it again, I enjoyed it that much.  Game is challenging enough to not just be a kids game.

I played it on switch & it's a really stellar 3D platformer. Way better than the more popular A Hat in Time & Yooka-Laylee imo. It's not quite Nintendo caliber, but it's up there with the likes of Spyro & Sly Cooper.

Now they just need to release the first Lucky game on PSVR...
 
For those of you who mentioned having a Samsung; have you ever had a problem with the video blacking out for about three seconds every once in a while?  I'll be sitting there play a game and suddenly the screen goes black (but the audio continues to play okay through my receiver) and after a couple seconds it will come back perfectly fine.  I don't recall it ever happening on the PS3, 4k Player or Cable box, but seems to have at least once a play sessions on the PS4 Pro.  I suspected it could be anything between a handshake issue, hdcp issue, the fact that it's going through the non-HDR Gen 1 VR Box or even the 4K HDMI cables (which shouldn't be an issue considering they're Monoprice) but I can't seem to figure it out.  Searches on the internet seem to indicate other people experience these blank outs with their Samsung TV but nobody seems to know the cause or fix.

 
The new game from WB Montreal is Gotham Knights, which is a 1-2 player Arkham-style open world game featuring Robin, Red Hood, Batgirl, and Nightwing that looks more interesting that the Avengers game:

My Mom's 4K Samsung did that the very first time that I ever plugged my Xbox One X in, but it hasn't happened since.
 
my ps4 picture blacks out for a second launching a game with hdr. its only when hdr turns on, my tv notifies me whenever the signal switches to hdr mode.

speaking of, i have a series 4 tcl and its ok.........the hdr is barebones and everything else is just average. i got it for a screaming deal though, hopefully hdmi 2.0 isnt an issue with the ps5. if it is i didnt waste that much money, it was like 150.

the only problem is a set i had developed a vertical black line. had to get that fixed.

I wouldn't waste money going for an 8K TV when a 4K OLED with 120hz is around the same price. I just got an LG CX and the difference between it an my 2016 3D LG is night and day. There really is no 8K content aside from demo stuff anyway. 4K Blu-ray is already too niche for an 8K version to be possible.

Supposedly the new consoles will be able to do 8K eventually but at what cost? Miles Morales is already going to make you choose between better graphics or a higher frame rate. A PS5 Pro in 3 years will probably be necessary to do 8K justice.

That's currently my plan though, to wait for the Pro models of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. I haven't seen anything yet that makes me want to buy them day one.

The 77" CX is the one I'm eyeballing. And I think mine is the 2016 3D model so good to know it is that much of an upgrade.
