Shaq Fu's Barack DLC only works with the retail since they're separate SKUs. They even have different trophy lists.

Yea i bought it when it launched and returned it before opening once I heard all the reviews. Thought about buying it now for the day 2.0 drops, but I can go get a lot of food at Taco Bell for $13.99, so it is a hard choice.

And I don't even eat Taco Bell.

You don't really eat Taco Bell, as much as Taco Bell uses your body as a delivery system from the restaurant to your bathroom.
 
Not buying it.
I bet they had another small patch or two up their sleeve (mostly with more recolors or even a Crash 4 tease) before Covid blew everything up. By the time they were resettled, they were drafted by Activision to make up for lost time on Crash 4.
Otherwise, it wouldn't have taken 6 months for them to make this announcement. An announcement probably being made after a definitive decision to leave CTR as it is and not even port it to PC.

Would love to pick up THPS, especially with the nearly unanimous positive reviews. However, the monthly gaming budget was blown on pre-ordering the Mario 3D All-Stars announced today. fuck the artificial scarcity, but there's no way I'm paying scalpers triple the amount down the line.

Most likely they are going to add n64, and eventually Gamecube and Wii games to their online service like they did with NES and SNES. That is my guess.

The likely scenario is that it's all being pulled so they can then sell all the games separately at a markup after. "Buy all three for $60 now so you don't have to pay $40 for them individually later!" It's a fucking bonehead strategy. Nintendo isn't going to see a dime of the secondhand market sales when the carts go OOP.

It’s basically like how Disney did “the vault” where once it’s gone it’s gone. Triggers that FOMO and drives up sales and eventually scalpers.
 
Nintendo has had plenty of experience with this from their Amiibos.  Release a limited number of characters in waves, make everyone go into a frenzy and feel like they must buy them asap or they'll lose their chance forever.

ive never seen so many gamers mobilize and announce to one another they preordered a game before today on discord. a retro collection is the perfect type of game for them to make money through FOMO instead of yearly normal sales. its the Disney Vault strategy, put out a classic for a limited time so even if you only sort of want it, youll pay full price for it. now! before its too late!!! and if it goes sour (it wont, nintendo has been playing with the idea of artificial scarcity for years now)........they can twist it into "weve heard what the fans want....were selling more!!!! youre welcome." for some good pr.

its like the people who say "why dont they make a switch virtual console. they could even put gamecube and wii games on it, dont they want money??", nintendo knows how to budget out their full releases and retro throwbacks to maximize profits on both. a lot of people assume theyre some sort of silly willy wonka company, but theyre one of the richest businesses in japan with a board of directors like any other.

i would bet the farm that the s/nes classics made nintendo more money than the profits from the wii and wiiu's virtual consoles combined.

I doubt that. Digital wii shop sales were very large. Wiiu I would give you since that system sold poorly. But combined there's no way the other 2 made more money. Especially not when factoring in production, shipping and retail costs money whereas digital there's not much cost to.

the wii virtual console made nintendo 66 million in revenue (not profit). the most popular 10% games for it, mostly mario and zelda, made up 80% of that revenue.

now nintendo has a better strategy, from the looks of it. sell their classic systems (analysts stopped reporting sales at 10 million in 2018, i dont know if nintendo includes them in their earnings report along with the wiiu and switch, etc.), until enough time has elapsed that they put your games on the switch online service. the most hardcore fans will buy these promotional products, and pay for the service.

they can get the best of both worlds, a disney vault and a disney plus. who knows when they add mario 64 to switch online, but whenever they do, nintendos biggest fans have paid for the promotional release for full price, and the switch service.

I just see it as three new Mario games that I get to experience. I probably won't get the Wii U Mario game that they announced. I already have that, and a disc version at that, so if they take it off the eShop like they have with previous Wii U games that are now on Switch, I can still play it until the Sun explodes.

For anyone who got in on the Verizon copy of Avenger's, I received the email from Square about 3hrs ago. Everything in the email says "beta access" but the code should be for the full game.

Finished the Avengers main campaign and some of the side story content.  I really enjoyed it but the performance gets really rough during some sequences (on base PS4).  If you’re only interested in playing the main story I’d definitely wait to play it on next gen (and a discount).

That depends. If you have a red card at Target, all of the cards are 5% off, always. If you have a Costco or a Sam's Club account, sometimes they will have $100 cards for $90. Raise is a gift card reselling site for people that don't want their gift cards, and you can usually find cards there ranging from 4% to 10% off depending on the size of the card, but it can be kind of hit or miss. Sometimes NewEgg will have coupon codes that work on cards, and sometimes Dell will sell discounted cards.

This is perfect, thanks. I was wondering if PSN currency sales were similar to eShop currency (almost never on sale) or if there was some trick to getting it cheap (like Bing rewards for Xbox currency).

This PSVR headset keeps costing me money :)

pcgamesupply used to sell psn cards almost monthly for 2-3$ off but hasn't done so this year iirc. Its a shame. eshop card wise they actually go on sale now far more frequent than psn does. raise actually had them on sale for 6% off with another 5% via promo coupon either yesterday or the day before. Not sure if they are still on sale but I figured I would mention it.

If you can wait a little while someone is sure to run a Black Friday promo. I typically only buy currency then, and stock up at no less than 15% off.

When you stack that with CAG deals it really works out well :)
