Anyone know if Okami HD is gonna be on a deal sometime before New Years?
iono if I should just wait for it to save some $ or just straight out purchase the game now.

You might as well hold out until the 31st. There's a new sale tomorrow and next Monday. I'm hoping this and Tokyo jungle go on sale.
Is there going to be an update since Tuesday is Christmas?
Mondays for the next two weeks. Don't expect a ton of content either week.

Sales are rarely announced that far ahead. I would at least wait until tomorrow's update to see if it's part of the holiday sale, otherwise you should just buy it if you want it badly.
I don't think so, that was 2 weeks ago I believe.
I was pretty bummed when I found out my original PS2 save wasn't compatible.

They have been mentioning new Vita content for PS+ for this month, with nothing mentioned as leaving this week, I guess maybe the 31st.

I got an email that seemed to indicate the Music Unlimited deal might end sometime soon? At any rate, for $1 a month ($12 for a year), it's a great deal. I just got it two nights ago and it's great. Even the PS3 app is pretty decent. I encourage anyone on the fence to jump on this.

hey guys, random question but if you buy a 12 month PS+ subscription on PSN with PSN cards you don't need to enter a credit card right?

like with those 1 month promo PS+ codes that need a credit card to be activated.

I don't think u will need credit info

Grabbed Two Worlds II, Escape Plan, and Dokuro today. Wavered on I Am Alive, but I think I'm going to pass for now. The demo was fun, but I think the uniqueness will wear off rather quickly and the game itself won't be all that exciting. If it ever drops to 50% off on Xbox I'll pick it up, because I am flush with MS points, and not so much with PSN Credit.

May end up regretting Escape Plan if it ever shows up free on PS+, but I enjoyed the demo enough to buy it.

I think it was already said that games that go on sale with plus discounts won't ever be free. Maybe I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure I seen that about 10 pages back.

Sorry but this is wrong. They have been super shady in the past about discouting stuff and then turning around and making it free for PS+.
I don't think it was ever said that they would never be free, but that they won't be free in the near future.
That's not true either. Just back in November I bought Mutant Blobs Attack on sale. Within 2 weeks it was part of the PS Plus Vita IGC.

This is going to be tricky for a Vita owner with a smaller library to work with being a new handheld console. Unless they start throwing more PSP and PSone games in there.

not true Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack was on Sale for PS+ members
3 Weeks later it became free for Plus members. it was like 3 dollars but still I got stabbed in the back.

As I said, it took exactly month to change sale in to Free.
Escape Plan may stay out for a bit, but this will definitely become free for Plus members near future.

I'm pretty sure this is a new thing they started to promote the holiday sales.
I'm pretty sure this is a new thing they started to promote the holiday sales.
Nope it all started after they put Infamous 2 and Just Cause 2 in the IGC 1 week after many people bought them on sale.

Sony wants to put a break between sale price and free but sometimes that does not happen like they plan, hence Space Blobs on Vita.
I'm pretty sure this is a new thing they started to promote the holiday sales.
It's peoples choice what they want to believe or how they want to buy. As a long time PS Plus member this has happened so much I just stopped buying any PSN games unless I really, REALLY wanted to play them (Hello Wallking Dead going free two months later, but I did get the season pass so I got a discount and snazzy theme). There's been no precedence set of this changing and has recently happened to me just last month. You can choose to continue buying like normal as a PS Plus member but don't say you weren't warned and be upset when shit goes free a month or two later, simple as that.

It's pretty clear that they've actively tried to scam people into buying stuff on discount when they know full well that they're going to offer it free on PS+ in the near future. It's been done countless times anywhere from a week to a month after the time of the sale ends.

Go over to the PS Blog. On every Store and Plus update, there will be countless comments asking if they are planning on putting certain games free in the future, because so many people have been screwed over. A lot of people won't even buy stuff now if they suspect it could become part of the IGC.

Could you explain this active scamming they are trying to do? Should they just never put any games on sale ever for Plus members? If you are worried that a game is going to become free in the near future, don't buy it. If "losing" out on $5 is going to make you feel like cutting your wrists, don't buy the game.

Anyways, I just bought Dokuro, Dyad, Alien Breed 3, Hell Yeah!, Odin Sphere, Escape Plan, and I Am Alive. Yikes.
I have no idea what it is but it's slow as hell. You'd think something that can render MGS4 could load a page of text and pictures quickly but nope. If it hasn't been fixed after like 5+ years it never will be.
It really has nothing to do with rendering. It very likely comes down to a combination of: bad coding, personal internet connection, personal firewall settings, system RAM and server BS on Sony's side.
I don't think u will need credit info
Unless they have changed their policy this is correct. I have never added a credit card to my account and was able to purchase my PS+ subscription with a $50 PSN card.
They should just do away with the IGC.
I agree. Just make some really good sales and give more PS+ exclusive features.
From ps+ blog for those worrying lbp or Rayman may go free for vita:

While some updates to the PS Vita Plus free games is coming shortly; there are some great deals on some PS Vita content with the Holiday Sale like LBP Vita and Rayman Origins. Those games are not slated to be free in Plus for PS Vita in the near future, so it may not be a bad idea to jump on those deals!"
Actually, it is true that they've said that in response to Just Cause 2 being on sale the week before it was part of the launch of PS3's IGC. Morgan's said that the deals for PS+ stuff happens a few weeks in advance of their launch, so there's that gray area where they have to get deals set in stone way ahead of the IGC's launch on Vita while those same developers may have made plans for sales afterwards that conflicts with that prior commitment. I'd imagine that it's a lot easier to manage now that the IGC is set-up and this stuff is better prepared for after that.

I'm not saying I don't believe what they "said" back then, I was pointing out that it just recently last month happened to me. Facts are facts and talk means shit when it still happens.

The point i'm saying is if it's going to matter to a person if they are a PS Plus subscriber and they buy something at release or at a discount and worried about it going free within a couple months then its probably better to wait. If it would send you in rage mode to have it happen then yea put some thought into your purchase first. If you don't care then fine whatever buy as you will, it's nobodies business.

Just anyone that reads or posts in this thread have absolutely no room to complain or bitch when it happens to them. I didn't rant and rave when Mutant Blobs went free, I rolled the dice and knew better, but it still happens.

The question for those that feel burned is what timeframe would be best for excluding games from being added to the IGC after they go on sale? Four weeks (a month) or more?

If we go with four weeks, then these games would be excluded from the IGC:

Plants vs. Zombies - Started five weeks before, ended three weeks before
Spy Hunter - Permanent Price Drop three weeks before launch
Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack - Started five weeks before, ended three weeks before
When Vikings Attack - Two week before

Four weeks before this week:

Dokuro - Sale One Week Ago
Dungeon Hunter: Alliance - Permanent Price Drop One Week Ago
Escape Plan - Sale One Week Ago
Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational - Permanent Price Drop Four Weeks Ago
Little Deviants - Permanent Price Drop Four Weeks Ago
LittleBigPlanet - Sale One Week Ago
Lumines Electronic Symphony - Permanent Price Drop One Week Ago
MLB 12: The Show - Permanent Price Drop Four Weeks Ago
ModNation Racers: Road Trip - Permanent Price Drop Four Weeks Ago
Pinball Arcade - Sale Began Five Weeks Ago, Ended Two Weeks Ago
Puddle - Sale Three Weeks Ago
Pure Chess - Sale One Week Ago
Rayman Origins - Sale One Week Ago
Reality Fighters - Permanent Price Drop Four Weeks Ago
Resistance: Burning Skies - Permanent Price Drop Four Weeks Ago
Smart As… - Permanent Price Drop Four Weeks Ago, Sale One Week Ago
Unit 13 - Permanent Price Drop Four Weeks Ago

Then there are the complaints about sales after a game is available for free, so they get it either way. I'd bet that you'll see a lot of brand new Vita games available for free to PS+ members as a way to entice developers to make Vita games by giving them a better shot at more customers up front.

While I can understand being disappointed, you're assuming way too much. There are a lot of logical explanations to explain this, but it comes down to the fact we don't know how Sony does this. Simply having 2 groups could explain this, perhaps they needed to replace something quickly and made a deal for something or the company just wasn't thrilled with their sale numbers even after a discount. However, we do know that Sony isn't extremely organized and they're not actively trying to screw people over.

Furthermore, what does that have to do with anything? People have always been asking if ___ game would be free with plus and would happen whither or not Sony did sales. Sure it's a downside of plus, but if you're constantly worried about getting it for free... then you probably shouldn't be buying the game in the first place.

Would people be happier if games were just disabled on your system when they were pulled from the IGC? Then it'd be like an extended demo with trophies and you maybe wouldn't feel so cheated if you bought it before or after?

Same discussion was in the Amazon PCDD thread. People feel burned when a game they bought last month on sale goes on a bigger sale. I think they're just really disorganized, I don't think they intend to milk customers that badly, it's really bad PR and they've had enough of that the past year.

When the Just Cause/Infamous 2 IGC fiasco happened I emailed asking for a refund for Infamous 2 and made my case. It took a few days but they did it, no problems. I think they just had no idea how to roll out their online store and everything related to it, they're still playing catch up to Xbox Live, who is still catching up to Steam.

Personally I like the IGC, so I hope it stays.

It doesnt bother me so much that a game I just bought is now free for ps+, as I may not continue my ps+ membership and I will still have the game. What pisses me off is that they dont offer a choice of games, they just tell you this one is free and if you already have or its something you would never buy...oh well nothing for you this time then. I dont see why they can't offer us a choice of 1 of 2 games like they did when they got hacked and had the welcome back package. Is it that hard to implement this?
The question for those that feel burned is what timeframe would be best for excluding games from being added to the IGC after they go on sale? Four weeks (a month) or more?

If we go with four weeks, then these games would be excluded from the IGC:
At this point I don't personally think people should feel "scammed" or really burned, the system is what it is.

I've been saying this for awhile but keep getting dirty looks like i'm saying something crazy but I feel in the long run PS Plus is going to end up hurting PSN and developers sales. Indie makers will feel it first (see Deathfin sales) but the bigger companies will start to see it eventually. It was a good idea, and from a consumer standpoint it is a great deal IF you utilize PS Plus the right way. The problem is that right way is what will start to hurt the sales and you are seeing more and more people go this route.

Netflix works because movies and tv shows are a much more disposable form of entertainment with a huge library not limited by things like consoles. Video games on the other hand, especially when limited to only whats on a particular console, is a smaller pool to pull from to offer on a subscription basis. In order to keep people interested in subscribing you have to keep the library you are offering relevant and enticing. You have to go into PS Plus at this point with one of two intentions.

First intention is going in with it as a "demo" service looking purely for the discounts. This format you are buying all the games you want with the discounts in mind. If you are doing this you are probably not a year long subscriber only utilizing "free month" offers or buying 1 or 3 months subscriptions. The games you are buying at a discount though are part of your permanent library though regardless if you keep subscribing.

The second intention is looking at PS Plus as sort of like a hybrid Gamefly/Netflix subscription service. You don't get to pick your games you are getting with your subscription but you are offered enough variety to keep you entertained. You shouldn't be buying many games with this intention to maximize the value of your subscription. Doesn't matter if its 1 month later or 6 months later you should always work under the assumption that eventually the PSN game you are wanting to play will probably be free with your subscription at some point. With the IGC and the monthly games you should have enough of a library and backlog to satisfy anyways.

Now with both of these ways of approaching PS Plus you notice one similar thing between the two approaches. You should always hold off on buying new release games to maximize the value of PS Plus in both instances. And the second approach you are even taking it a step further and waiting till the games are free. i see more and more people who are PS Plus subscribers instinctively taking one of these approaches eventually and holding off their game purchases one way or another. Doesn't really matter if its one month out or 6 months as long as I know it will either be heavily discounted or free. As a consumer when you accept either of these approaches PS Plus works greatly in your favor with no complaints at all but from a publisher or developer standpoint this will eventually effect bottom lines and word of mouth which can really hurt smaller and indie studios.

The price of games, once released, is always going down, generally speaking. Companies know full well that those price drops are coming and so should you. Those who feel scammed by a game they purchased going for "free" on the instant game collection should feel no more scammed than a game simply dropping in price. If this is important to you, be more patient. The price you paid for anything is the price you were willing to pay at that point in time so there is no unfairness here.

Read or reread ponn01's post above. He lays it out perfectly. I think that if you feel burned by PS+ or Xbox Live or anything like this, you did not do your due diligence and you are the one to blame. I think the biggest change one must make in their life in order to be the cheapest gamer is to be patient. This means buying new release games is off the table, period. This means learning how things work, doing your homework, judging when a deal is the deal. Only you know what is best for you, and don't blame anyone else for your mistakes.
Morgan Haro is just a Sony shill. He says whatever he has to to keep people happy, whether it is a lie or not. Just before that he said that getting feedback to corporate on PS+ was a very slow process and things were set for month(s) in advance.

Here's what people need to realize about how companies treat consumers. The late-comer is generally going to get a better deal than existing customers, early adopters and whoever purchased before them, even if it was not anybody's intention to do that.

In the context of the PlayStation 3, I'll use myself as an example. I became a PS3 owner with the recent holiday bundle. It came with four games. Existing games are discounted and/or had their MSRP's reduced. I got three free months worth of PS+. Compare this to the person who paid five hundred and ninety nine US dollars several years ago. What is the difference? The only real difference is time. That person has had access to the hardware and software longer, and what I think you'll find is that this often means jack shit once time passes.

As time marches on and the PS4 is released, future PS3 owners will get an even better deal than me when the last hardware iteration is released and the damn thing is $99 and comes with four of the console's best games. And as an Xbox 360 early adopter, the current Xbox 360 buyers are getting a better deal than I did as long as they are people who do not buy into this stupid idea of being first or having the latest thing.

It's a balance one should pay attention to, and it does not pay to be one of the first customers. Pick your battles. Pick where you want to be the second/third/fourth batch of customers in line (NEVER be first) and pick where you want to hold off. There are assholes that want to be first for everything and they are known as Apple customers.
