PS+ installs game for you. I have my PS set up so I get all my downloading and installing done at night when I'm not using the system. Think PS+ downloads beta if you have the option selected.
Good to know. Thanks.
Also the game is being priced at $39.99, which is nice.
$39.99 for a cross-buy is aweseome! If the demo is any good I'll probably have to pick this up.
It's funny how other threads are full of skeptics and people angry that deals aren't low enough but this one is always full of mass consumerism and purchasing digital items left and right.
That's cause we get lots of free stuff. It makes paying a little more for games we want much more palatable. I'll gladly pay $10-20 for a game I want if it means I get to keep enjoying PS+ benefits. Keep bringing the deals Sony and I'll keep emptying my wallet for you.

And complaining about free games.
Anybody recommend any of these besides N.O.V.A.? I played N.O.V.A. on a friend's PSP awhile back and it was a good sci-fi first person shooter. Might get that one for sure at that price.

BreakQuest - $0.99 *
Hero of Sparta - $0.99 *
Jane’s Hotel - $0.99 *
Let’s Golf - $0.99 *
N.O.V.A. - $0.99 *
Normaltanks - $0.99 *
Let's Golf is very similar (but less refined) to Hot Shots Golf.
Hero of Sparta is very similar to God of War (with even the same exact color orbs doing the exact same things).

Both of those games are fine copies of the genre and well worth 99 cents in my opinion.

^The news about prices was today so stores will update it just wait.

$39.99 on ps3
$29.99 on ps vita
No it isn't. At least the PS3 version (which includes a free Vita copy) isn't; it's still $59.99 MSRP. The Vita-only version is $39.99
The PS3 version is $39.99 while the Vita version is $29.99

Not trying to stir the + pot more, but I find it interesting the difference between the NA and EU region's Sly Cooper Treasure Design Contests.

The NA contest took over 6 mos to announce the winners and they gave the prizes to "Cane Polish" and a "Cookie Jar". BORING! Both are nondescript bottles/jars. Those are the winning designs? I refuse to believe those are the most creative entries. They hinted earlier that there were legal issues that kept them from announcing the NA winners, so maybe the really good entries couldn't be chosen for copyright violation or some such.

The winners of the EU Sly Cooper contest were announced last July (over 6 mos ago!) and had much more interesting treasures (Egyptian Vase, Spyglass):
http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012...-in-time-competition-final-winners-announced/

Of course, everyone values treasures differently, and maybe most of the NA market really prefers plain jars and bottles over vases and telescopes.

Well you have to remember that EU also supports art by doing "The Studio", which the US gets some of, but not all.

Like this was an EU dynamic theme that we never got. http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012/08/23/the-studio-unveils-new-killzone-xmb-theme/#more-79155

They also did a contest for a print of it, so I think they do a little more. Not going to knock the US though, since the Houseparty promotion still beats out Plus / anything EU is doing by a wide margin.
Is Modern Combat multi player only? Is it still active online? Hopefully not just with veterans who decimate newcomers?
it's the poor man's Counterstrike. I highly recommend just searching your couch for loose change and getting Counterstrike instead, it's FAR superior in every conceivable way, including player base.
Modern Combat: Domination is COD-lite, multiplayer only game (though it can be played with bots. No campaign though). Controls pretty much exactly as COD. Doesn't look nearly as good or have nearly the maps, but it's a fun diversion for $1.
it is definitely NOT cod lite - that will just confuse people. it's a Counterstrike ripoff.
The PS3 version is $39.99 while the Vita version is $29.99
Wow, I stand corrected then. I even did a Google search and found no mention of a price reduction.

From the PS+ Forums:

The removal of inFAMOUS 2 from PS Plus was an error associated with the wider sale on it ending. We're fixing this now and it should be back in the collection by next week at the latest. - Morgan Haro

I saw that at least the PS3 Full Game list on the PS Store was updated for December with Mass Effect at #1, so it being this high wasn't a surprise. I am surprised that five of the top ten are full games with Two Worlds II being the only other full game in the Top 20.

Portal 2 is actually on there as well, at #19.

I, too, am continually surprised at the success of day one digital releases. And GTA IV. Seriously, GTA IV has been in the top 20 (and usually in the top 10) for every month since February 2012, excluding October. Am I missing something here? Why would the digital version of this game be so popular?

Maybe this is a silly question but how do the mechanics work for the automatic trophy syncing, installs, and updates for Plus? I know you can set the system to do it during a certain time period but does the PS3 actually make that loud startup beep and run the fans and everything or is it more unobtrusive that actually turning your system on and using it normally?

My two PS3s are in a bedroom and one behind entertainment center doors that I have to open when I want to use it. Neither would be too conducive to having the PS3 run warm and/or loud in the middle of the night. I've always left those features disabled for fear of that.

Yeah, its a full boot up but takes usually no more than 5 min depending on what's being downloaded.

I set mine at the 4-6 AM time and it never wakes me up. Sometimes I've already waken up when it turns on but it's really not that loud. Also, like perfect says, it's never on for very long.

I don't see why, I think it makes a lot of sense. For instance, lets look at Far Cry 3, PS All Stars and to a lesser degree AC III. These are all games with strong online modes (lesser for ACIII), so having a digital copy helps a bit more. Like with a digital copy, you can charge your friend half and you can both co op the game for only $30 dollars. Also families with 2 PS3's can in turn play with one another without needing a second copy, so it's really advantageous if you need a partner / want it long term. Also don't forget people that gameshare, since even though it would cost a different amount, a mere 1/4th of the $60 dollar cost is $15 dollars to down a 1 day release. All these numbers add up, which makes them popular.

It's Grand Theft Auto and it's $20. That's about all it really needs for most people. GTA3 was at the top of the PS2 Classics every month since release until December when Bully and GTA San Andreas' releases pushed it to #3.

You could always set it to go on when you're awake but not going to use the PS3 like if you're not home.
Maybe if you don't ever play online, which makes playing co-op online impossible. All 3 of those games you mention have online passes, therefore cannot be played online on more than one account. Even if those accounts are on the same PS3, it still won't let the 2nd person play online. :whistle2:x

Yes you can I have many gameshares that have an online pass if bought retail and me and the other group members can all play online together via our main PSN accounts.

So an online pass can be shared on different profiles.

You've obviously never game-shared an online pass before. 2 systems can be active.

Yes I know that. But you can't both be logged into the same account at the same time signed into PSn, so how can you play online co-op together? Also 2 different accounts on the same PS3 cant use the same online pass.

Yes they can and normally you will play on your own account and not the account the game/pass is on.

I've tried it not that long ago, with Ghost Recon Future Soldier. Wouldn't let my 2nd account play online w/o buying another uplay/online pass.

Depends on how the online pass works and what exactly is needed. Typically digital games lack an online pass, since the pass is just built into the game. I believe uplay passes work outside of the PSN, so you might need a code for that. I can't really say since I don't play Ubisoft games, but even if you do need an online pass for those titles, plenty of CAGs will sell their online passes for 2 or 3 dollars, so they're hardly a big expense even if they're needed.

Also to confirm what others are saying... online passes can be activated and used on multiple accounts / systems.

Ahh yea that was a disc copy and you might be right about the whole Ubisoft thing. I had forgotten how digital copies work. Thanks for the explanation. I retract my argument.
good, because that was the shortest demo I've ever played
Is that so? If you get bored, I'd recommend downloading the Heavenly Sword demo sometime.

For a long demo, I recommend downloading the full Heavenly Sword game. :D

Do you really think that many people/families are that savvy and do that? Just curious if you think so, because I honestly don't. Maybe I'm really underestimating the power of gameshare groups.

Also, you lost me at that last part. How would it be possible to get a day 1 $60 game for $15?

Of course not. People complain about a $60 digital release but they sell, which is why they will continue to come out.

Thanks for the replies on the automatic updates. So I'm assuming that means it does the big startup beep? I don't know why but that has always bothered me and seems unnecessary. There is an LED on the front of the system for a reason. I don't need audio feedback as well.

There are probably enough people who prefer digital over physical releases to make it profitable. I also have to wonder if the lack of region-locking on PSN (ie we can access the European and Japanese PSN stores) results in digital sales for people abroad or for people in just other territories. Australia, for example, is really strict with violent/mature games, but anyone with a PS3 who sets up an American PSN ID can download whatever we have.

Maybe the digital sales have something to do with people who get credit on PSN? I know there are a few ways to get some PSN cash, through gift cards obviously, but also GameStop's PUR program. I know not a solution, but I wonder how many people are in the boat of "Well...I have $60 in PSN bucks...and I was going to get Ass Creed 3 anyways..."

I don't think gamesharing has that much to do with it.

Looks like I'm going to need to cash in my 1 month trial finally as I would like to get Double Dragon Neon before it goes poof. Plus Mega Man, etc, etc.

Especially since they cut the number down significantly.
