Traded in my black friday copy of LBP karting (that I also recently price matched for the dotd yesterday) for $16 (with GCU) today. Combined with a $5 shopkick and picked up a fresh $20 PSN and I'm more than ready for this sale to go live.
I suppose the vita version of Jet Set Radio isn't getting a sale?
wasn't that part of the IGC? Most people probably already have it for free - if it was a sale item this soon people would just complain.

What logic is that?

We get it for free first and then it goes on sale, so people get screwed how?

What a great list of games at great prices! Looks like I may finally have to cave and buy something digital on PSN (although I did buy Walking Dead) and not just play the IGC titles! :applause:

I'm so pissed that I bought Unfinished Swan on Saturday and never even started it cause I fell asleep before it finished downloading. :wall:

If anything this is a great way for sales to go. Helps those who may have missed it as free. Unfortunately it also means people who got it for free can't buy it to keep forever. But that's a much better trade-off than paying for something and getting it free later.
Is it my imagination or did Swan go from $2.50 to 3.75? I might be mis-remembering the prices, I saw them when I woke up and wasn't fully awake.
You posted the $2.50 price yourself in the deleted thread for this sale. So you confused yourself and probably a few other people on the site.

yeah damn id much rather have it be 50%/75% than 30%/50%.
it seems like for a year after they started plus they just lowered the sale discounts for normal members. i remember stuff for regular used to be 50% off, then when ps+ came around it was more like 30/50%. it would be great it they went back legit and actually 50/75%. idk, any savings are good savings.

I'm sure this has been posted somewhere but I can't seem to find it, but, are any of these able to be downloaded now as the "demo," then if we purchase it tomorrow can we just download the unlock key?

I think the 30%/50% was actually a way for them to make a little bit of money back for PS+. At first it kind of sucked that you had to be a paid member to get the 50% off, but it does make sense. I still struggle to understand how they make money on PS+, but they were able to make a little bit here.

Like gettinmoney said, it'd be awesome if 50%/75% was the new standard, but I highly doubt it.

You can definitely do this with the vast majority of games with demos, as long as them demo isn't a separate demo from the main game (it usually isn't, I don't think there's any way to tell before purchasing).

I did it with Quantum Conundrum a couple months ago. It's really a smart strategy if you know there's something you want to play right away tomorrow.
Anyone think House of the Dead Overkill would be worth it WITHOUT having the PS3 Move controller?
No. I believe they're a must. A pair of Move controllers with a pair of Sony Sharpshooters are a must I would say. And if possible a second player. I played it with friends and it's awesome with Move controllers. Like a home arcade cabinet of House of the Dead.

I know there are a lot of vita owners in here so has anyone had any experience sending their vita back for a replacement? I got the AC bundle and I have a speck of dust under my screen in the center and Amazon is out of stock so I would have to do it through Sony.
No. I believe they're a must. A pair of Move controllers with a pair of Sony Sharpshooters are a must I would say. And if possible a second player. I played it with friends and it's awesome with Move controllers. Like a home arcade cabinet of House of the Dead.
I don't think a pair of Move controllers or Sharpshooters are a must at all, but I think a single Move controller is probably essential to get some enjoyment out of the game. Playing on-rails shooters with a controller is really lame.

Unfinished Swan is tempting me, but last time I bought a game like this on PSN (Closure), it was ported to PC and part of a Humble Bundle, but at least Unfinished Swan is half the price. For Nights, Jet Set Radio, and Warp, I'll probably pick them up on PC, but LittleBigPlanet Karting seems like a worthy purchase at $10.
Anyone think House of the Dead Overkill would be worth it WITHOUT having the PS3 Move controller?
It's hard to recommend for $5 even with Move. It's such a short game and isn't nearly as fun (and challenging) as older House of the Dead titles. The only things I liked more were the better visuals and intentionally cheesy dialogue.
Anyone think House of the Dead Overkill would be worth it WITHOUT having the PS3 Move controller?
Have you ever played light gun games without a gun before? My first taste of House of the Dead was on Dreamcast without a gun and I took to it right away. It's more fun with the gun because of the ease of play, but I still like the controller just as well.

Personally I'd say go for it for a good price.
I loved Shank 2, though I thought the first game was a little better. The best part is doing the enemy rush mode with a partner (this can be played online), plus there are a number of characters to unlock with different abilities. Just be warned that the mode is VERY difficult to beat and quite easy to randomly fail.
any one having problems with shank 2 hit me up, I will reactivate my ps+ just to help with that , for me survival mode is easy as pie.

I just need someone that knows the basics and is accostumated just to use the shop, otherwise it's easy, I always use the BUM guy.
Anyone wanna play the Earthworm Jim co-op levels tomorrow?
I wouldn't mind that today even though I still haven't started the game pm me, to say at which time remember I'm from EU so GMT -7

Whenever the store updates today which is normally around 4-6 EST I think.
I know Hot Shots doesn't have trophies, but does anyone know for the most part do all of the other games on the sale have them?
Psychonauts doesn't have trophies either, because it is a PS2 classic. The rest do.
I know Hot Shots doesn't have trophies, but does anyone know for the most part do all of the other games on the sale have them?
Yes, besides psychonauts, the rest of the games have trophies. www.PS3Trophies.org

After yesterdays Best Buy coupon mishap I was able to get a 2TB hard drive, my first year of psn and $50 psn credit for $80 out of pocket (after rz points). I am ready for this sale!

I asked this in a different thread, the consensus is yes

I was thinking there was something odd about the LBP: Karting multiplayer at release, but couldn't remember what it was when I was looking it up recently. No local multiplayer?, no online multiplayer? or am I thinking of a different carting game?

^For some reason there was a rumor going on around here (and maybe elsewhere) that this game doesn't have local multiplayer. It definitely does, there are plenty of YouTube videos proving this. A quick Google search suggests that there *might* be an issue with 3rd party controllers, though that sounds like an extremely weird issue. It also may be possible that the different game modes support different amounts of players.

Yeah, it was totally confusing at one point. It does support 4 player local multiplayer right, 100% positive? TIA.

I have to agree with you on this game, except it's still worth $5-$10. I mean, what can you buy for $5 these days? A hamburger, 30 mins of parking in San Francisco, an avatar dlc on a console? I'll be repurchasing it at $5. I have the Wii version and bought the PS3 version at launch but sold it shortly after. At $5, I won't even hesitate to rebuy it.

Was there a scheduled maintenance today? Every time I try to get onto the store I keep getting a message that its currently under maintenance. Weird

They're more than likely updating the store with all the deals/changes.

Thanks for the clarification, another one to add to the list.
I asked this in a different thread, the consensus is yes
Just played the demo. I wasn't overwhelmingly impressed. Is there much of a story mode? And the level with the dragon-monster truck thing was a little too busy. Couldn't quite tell what was going on.

I myself was confused when I got LBP: Karting in the mail after Black Friday, because it clearly states on the box that it supports multiple players online, and only 1 player locally. The box is a lie!

On the other hand, I am having all kinds of problems staying logged in and downloading content online. I would say it's my router settings or something, except EVERY OTHER game works fine online. :(
Yeah, it was totally confusing at one point. It does support 4 player local multiplayer right, 100% positive? TIA.
Unfortunately I can't say that I'm personally 100% positive. Google searches of message boards suggest that it does, but it may be restricted to certain modes. (Like Mario Kart, where you can do the campaign with 2 players, and then versus and battle with 4 players). I don't have the slightest idea which modes allow which amounts of players.

Oh wow the box is wrong? That was stupid of them.

I know Mod Nation Racers does not have multiplayer support on Vita because I personally own it and a lot of people were upset with that. Not sure about Mod Nation on the PS3 though, haven't heard on LBP karts

Wrong topic me thinks.

To me, the Survival Edition is a waaaay better value than the Post-Pandemic Edition. Half the price and instead of a statue and a multiplayer DLC pack, you get a sweet artbook.
