It is hilarious the comparison between the positive comments the mods from Europe receive and the punish that poor Morgan guy gets at the US blog.
Very cool of them I think - I'm planning on skipping Ascension (I think I'm a bit violenced out and it sounds like this one will be hyper violent), but for someone like me maybe revisiting the first one would have changed my mind. Although I think I have GoW Saga sitting around somewhere so clearly I'm not that motivated to have my mind changed.

Edit: I hope they do the same thing for US if only to see if there's a hot hell of belligerent comments on our blog somehow.
REALLY dumb question, but want to make sure. If I pick up the 12+3 PS+ deal (to double dip on the spend $50 get $10 back) it will just add time to my current PS+ time right?
Exactly right.

I have a few bucks sitting around, and with Sony giving me $10 last week and offering back another $10 +3 extra months I'm looking to extend.

Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.
yes. my sub goes out to 2016 or something like that.
My guess is they were likely thinking more about the size of game assets required to make the game they wanted to make at the quality they wanted to make it moreso than how much space you have left on your card.

The 32g may be a bit pricey, but it's certainly a very nice to have. I sold a couple backlog games to pay for it, and i'm glad i did.
Well, that's sort of the point though : If the game's assets are all contained within a 900 MB game file, why do we have a patch to download that's over 150% as large a file to add some music and a few extra levels? Same thing with PSASBR Vita, which required an 800 MB patch to add two DLC character and one more battle arena. I think it's safe to say that SCEA isn't being very economical with however they're updating their games and handling their DLC.

oops, yea, i misread the post i had been responding to. those patch sizes sound ridiculous. do they contain free dlc or something? because a simple patch shouldn't be that big (though sometimes patching does require 'replacing' so an equally big file could happen on occasion... but if the main game is

It'll be interesting to see what they do with PS+ after the PS4 comes out, especially if it doesn't support previous generations' digital files.

i've seen several reports on the demo for Unit 13, but no one re: the full game. worth the $13ish they want? I enjoyed the demo alright, but i'm still on the fence as to my need for an fps.

Don't know if it was asked, but if I already renewed plus with the 3 month bonus, and then I add another year on in march before the deal is over, can I still get the 3 month bonus, or is it only a one time offer?

You are still eligible for the 3 month bonus. So renew away.

The demo gives a good impression of what the game is, it's just a lot of separate mission. Also, I'm sure it was just a typo, but Unit 13 is a TPS not an FPS.
Looking at this article, it seems all the patches just compound the game's size. The DLC you buy is just an unlock code, so I assume this patch is all three DLC packages which is a ridiculous way to handle DLC and seems like a huge amount of space in addition to the full game. Why you can't just download the DLC you want, when you want it is totally beyond me.
I think it has something to do with how Sony charges for patches and what's available on the store. I'm pretty sure developers are charged for every download made from the store (which is why there aren't demos for every game) and it's cheaper to just pay for a patch for everyone to download.

The only evidence I have for this is a lot of games do this where everyone has to download the DLC and then you buy a 100kb code from the store.

Well if you are playing online multiplayer, you need the files on your system in case you fight against someone who selects a DLC character. If not, DLC people would only be able to play against other DLC people. That's the way it was with earlier PS3 games like Saint's Row 2. The switch to 100 KB unlock codes and big patches is to prevent that sharding of the player base.

Wow, I just called Sony to refund my psn+ renewal and I don't know how the hell to tell them. They keep giving me options that eventually lead to a dead end. I don't know what to do.
Why would they refund your PS+ renewal?
It renewed itself and didn't want to waste $17.99 on 3 months when I would rather get the whole year?
That's your fault for not turning off auto renewal
Exactly this. If they refund you, lucky you, but it's still your fault in the first place.

Yea I dont see why they should refund you for your own problem. Just eat the loss.

Decided to pick up Walking Dead again. I now got it for both systems for $20 total. Sweet!

When you called, did you escalate to a supervisor?

I escalated it to an account representative who sent the refund request in, and now I'm waiting for an email response to see if it was approved.

I called and they I had no idea where to go. Tells me to keep pressing a certain number for a feature of theirs but I don't know which problem I'm seeking.

https://twitter.com/BriProv

The developer of Retro City Rampage has been basically advertising the hell out of making indie games for PS3 and Vita since the summer, which seems to be helping to sway his fellow colleagues about making games for PSN. He even mentioned that the PSN versions sold better than Steam and the Vita version (not counting PS+ "sales") topped the PS3 version. It looks like Zeboyd Games (Penny Arcade's Rain Slick 3/4, Cthulu Saves the World, and Breath of Death VII) is convinced to get stuff on Vita just because of his tweets, so it's looking like this will be a thing for Vita.

There's no cross buy with the Vita version of Runner 2 since they're self-publishing on Vita while the PS3 version is published by Aksys.

Stop wasting your time calling Sony. You didn't turn off auto renew and that's your fault. When you join they turn it on so learn to read the terms of service. Enjoy the 3 months cause they got your money already. You can only blame yourself nobody else.

Just remember Sony loves you!

I just downloaded Zen Pinball 2 for the vita to try out the Star Wars tables and noticed something that may be useful to users who have been PS+ subscribers for a while. The classics pack and marvel tables are free to download because of previous PS+ inclusions but there is actually no expiration date showing under the account management on SEN so it looks like they are genuinely free.

Also, I just got a vita survey from Sony largely focused on Vita memory card prices so hopefully that is a sign that there may be changes coming soon. Although I have no idea why they would need a survey to realize the prices are too high...

It's not genuinely free, as it's an unlock key game and those turn into demos when your sub expires.

All of the other unlock keys on the SEN account site have expiration dates. These do not and they are definitely the full tables.

It being available to you is dependent on having ZP1 and MP on your account, which it is while you're a PS+ member. When your sub expires, the games are gone and it'll turn those tables into the demos.

If it was offered for NA PS+, would it be called a terrible selection for being another shitty old game?

More like a game that everyone already has / has played at some point. However, I think plenty of people would be okay with it and some would be happy to finally go back to platinum it (as many didn't buy the HD version having played the PS2 version).

Yeah, that's the other thing that people use to respond to NA PS+ games. If you couldn't tell, that was a facetious/rhetorical question/comment on what I'd expect people to say if that were offered here.

Seriously, having only played the demo of 1 before playing through 3, Chains, and Ghost, trying to play through 1 is such a huge, jarring experience because so many things about that game were changed or overhauled in the sequels. Even simple things like press circle to open doors and chests broke my brain. It's weird that quite a few of PS2 series were like that (Sly, Ratchet, Jak and Daxter, and God of War).

That blog post was from before the game was released. I'm sure that was the way it was supposed to work, but it doesn't look like it is. You may be right... but it would be the only content I have seen that works like that. I'll let you know in 15 months when my subscription lapses ;)

Was aware, just added my 2 cents, but added in the last part since I don't think US is always hateful / envious of EU. I recall Vanquish being a mostly positive (though annoyed that it took so long / EU got it well before us) reaction of a very cheap / old game.

Yep. The logical fallacy is that the person that has Marvel/Zen Pinball on their PS+ sub likely won't let it lapse to see what happens anyway.

This would be the only unlock key game to break the trend I talked about if it were true. Even though it doesn't look like it, the pack you refer to is an unlock key for the demo of that pack, which never show an expiration date. It's weirdly layered since the ZP2 pack wasn't specifically offered for PS+, so it shows up like that in a weird way.

Yeah, that was the last time I've seen positive comments since the Vita PS+ launch.
Will do, thanks for the help.
Turns out I can't test it after all, as there's no free DLC in the Japanese version, and the in-package DLC code expired in December.. damn! :/ So the question remains, but my guess would be that DLC is locked to user accounts of that region, versus varying on a game-by-game basis.

After reading a series of your messages (too many to get this simple question), I have the answer!!! =P

Depending on how the DLC in question works, you can use it outside of your JP account. The only exception are "account locked" items, like Tournament Tickets for Uncharted 3. Another would be 100 yen Gomibako, since the plays remains on the account in question. There aren't many more examples and Ni no Kuni shouldn't be among them.

While you might "doubt" my information, keep in mind that I cover mostly Japanese game and my Youtube is filled with me playing Japanese games (and in some cases DLC), in addition to me having several JP region DLC trophies.

Ah nice! Well, there's your answer, Kotomine. :)

Can anyone recommend Escape Plan? A part of me is tempted to just wait until it hits $5, but the whole 'Spend $50 Get $10' is pushing me to buy it. I'm picking up Hustle Kings, Super Stardust Delta, and Retro/Grade already.
vita = new indie dev hotspot? not complaining at all, just surprised that they keep coming. wish the skullgirls fundraiser could include a vita port...

https://twitter.com/BriProv

I'd love for the Vita to become more and more the place for indie games to go. I don't recall seeing it mentioned in this thread, but Thomas Was Alone is also coming to PS3 and Vita. I played a little of the demo on PC and really enjoyed it, I think it could be a really fun, challenging game.

As for Frisky's comment, when I read that article yesterday from Brian P. saying that the Vita was the absolute best seller for RCR I thought it was totally awesome! This is honestly great news, and I love the guy for talking up the Vita so much. I love this tweet especially. I'm a huge XBLA fan, but it seems like MS is doing everything it can to close doors for indie devs, where Sony is doing everything it can to open doors.

Just to be clear... and I'm not trying to debate the issue since I think it's safe to say neither of us will know 100% until our subs lapse... the place where I was looking was https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com which does show expiration dates for the unlock keys.

I guess im one of the few who fucking loves PS+. I like alot of the games they have offered for free. Yea some I already owned but you win some you lose some. Im not even a hardcore sony fan and the playstation is not my priority gaming console but I have been getting on it alot more because of PS+. I may end up switching back to sony next gen over microsoft.

Pretty sweet that we got PvZ for the VITA!

I liked it, but there were some frustrating moments with the controls since even with the update that allows you to use some buttons, you're still using the touch screen and rear touch screen (my most hated parts) quite a bit. Overall though, I liked it and with the two DLC packages I bought awhile ago for way cheap (I believe they were $0.25 and $1.00), I pulled the trigger the last time it was 50% off.
