Go ahead and report the post.
Did you buy the PS3 game and redeem your cross buy copy of the Vita version? Did you go and fully purchase the Vita version from the PS Store to attach it to your account?
yes, it's through disk benefits of the bluray. i didn't realize that changed the price to 'free' -- i assumed it would show normal price with a dl button like games i buy through the store. sorry if i got anyone's hopes up. i was also confused because it was showing in the 'featured' section of the store.
Is it normal for the Vita's touch screen to be unresponsive while using the Content Manager? It takes me about 20 minutes to go through the menus. Before anyone asks, USB charge is off and the Vita is completely charged.
no, not normal. my content manager is quite quick and responsive. worth looking into. simply being a 'defective vita' doesn't really make sense... perhaps tech support might have an idea as to what to do, though if they're anything like all other tech supports you'll be formatting your vita and restoring default settings, lol.

^It's one of my biggest regrets. I bought it for $5 on Xbox and only got through the first world and half of the next one. It got really hard pretty quickly, but mostly it just became super fucking obnoxious trying to get the right number on the die to show up at the top in the right spot.
It's a pretty fun game. It's very different from the normal Assassin's Creed games, in that it's a side-scrolling platformer/runner, but it's got some really neat level design and missions. It reminded me of Prince of Persia II more than anything. I actually played it on the iPhone (it seems to no longer be on the app store though) and I can only imagine it would be significantly better with a D-pad and buttons.
I think the iphone/mobile version is closer to the DS version (or vice versa). From my understanding Bloodlines was PSP exclusive.
It's not that good since it's basically what AC would look like with the technical limitations that keep it from being the open world game that console and Vita games are.
Thanks. I'll save the $22 left for my second fifty for something else.

Too bad asphalt is just a good port of an IPhone game. Vita needs a in depth racer BAD.

Shit, you're right. I was thinking of Discovery. I really thought that was the PSP one, not the DS one. Discovery is good, I know nothing of Bloodlines.

Need for Speed MW would like a word with you. That game is awesome.

Are you talking about Bloodlines? It's nothing like a 2D platformer since it's in full 3D like the console/Vita games in the series, but due to the PSP's limitations. The areas you're in are really small with plenty of fog, if I'm remembering correctly.

Yeah, I was mistaken. I was thinking of AC: Discovery. >_

indeed.

Out of today's import releases, I bought Ozu no Mahoutsukai (Wizard of Oz) and Favorite Dear, trying them both out briefly. They're both text-heavy, but the level of Japanese you'll need to play is quite different. Here are my thoughts on that for anyone who's interested...

For Ozu no Mahoutsukai, the vocabulary is pretty basic and the text is large enough to read, and it doesn't use any obscure kanji. Some kanji are written in kana even when they'd normally be written in kanji elsewhere. It also has a fair amount of voice acting. So, I estimate beginners will have a little trouble, and intermediate learners of Japanese will have no trouble at all. I'm still in the "beginner" phase myself (currently using JLPT4-level materials, for those who are familiar with that terminology).

Favorite Dear is suitable for much more advanced learners. There's a lot of text, and the font is pretty small, so the kanji (and there is a lot of it) can be hard to read. It has some voice acting, but not much.

I have it. I Love it, but it was neutered too much IMO. Probably because of the open world, but the damage models are weak and the AI cars are few

I really liked Bloodlines, but I would only recommend it if you haven't played any other AC like I have(n't). If you have, the flaws will be amazingly apparent.

The climbing mechanics and jumping is excellent because the camera's handled splendidly. The combat's meh, story's weird and dumb, and there are barely any unlockables. But I enjoyed it a lot.

Thanks for that. I'm currently at about JLPT 4 myself, working towards 3. I might check out Ozu no Mahoutsukai based on this. My only attempt at gaming in Japanese thus far has been attempting to replay TWEWY on iPad, and that's pretty much a 1 with all the obscure kanji and vocabulary.

On a related and sort of on-topic note: Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection allows you to play with the original Japanese text if you so wish. I didn't even try since I had never played it before and would have been grabbing the dictionary constantly and ruined my enjoyment of the game, but the option is there and I might do that if I go for a second playthrough.

Will look up reviews, but are there any hidden gems among the ubisoft PSP games which are on sale? I've played AC2 and have Revelations in my backlog so no need to pick up bloodlines.

While definitely not a AAA title, Asphalt is quite fun so far on the vita.

As for in depth racer, NFS:MW is supposed to be awesome on vita. i know it was fantastic on ps3, just waiting for a buy price on vita to play it again.

Ah sweet, thanks for the info; I will have to check out the FFIV Complete Collection soon. Maybe next time it goes on sale. I wish more games offered Japanese text support like that. The only other game I've heard of doing that would be Half Minute Hero (PC, not sure about the PSP version).

If you're looking for another game suitable for learners around our level, I've found Ni no Kuni to be excellent, with its furigana, voice-acting, generally easy vocabulary, and plenty of word repetition.. I'm sure I'll never forget the kanji for "magic" (魔法) with the number of times it's been said, heh. The only thing that threw me off in the beginning is that the doll guy (Shizuku aka Drippy) has a dialect that can initially be tough to understand, or at least it was for me. And the game cost me less to import new than I've seen it go for the U.S. release.

And while we're on the subject.. I've recently written a couple of scripts that can be useful. They're moderately buggy, as I didn't spend much time on them, but they've helped me a lot:
- Greasemonkey script that magnifies all Japanese text on a page
- rapid-lookup dictionary (uses jisho.org). Has my above script built-in. Convenient when you need to want to look up several words at once without opening a bunch of browser tabs.

Anybody that likes Advance Wars should definitely check out Tom Clancy's End War for the PSP from the Ubisoft sale, as it's basically AW with a hex grid instead of the traditional square grid.

I just noticed PSP Petz Hamsters and another Petz game are selling for $15 on sale, $2 more than Lumines and Rayman.

Clearly a case of the lesser games being cheaper, while paying a premium price for premium software.

I have bad memories of the original asphalt on the DS. You got to a point where winning was impossible on.some tracks. That friggin hummer would always outrun my Lambo..

It looks like a PSM game has gone free, which is ZooZooGo! that now has some in-app purchase options to get all of the modes in the game without grinding a bit. It's supposed to be pretty good, so those with a Vita or PSM-compatible Android device should check it out.
is this the cheapest rayman origins has been for vita?
It was $10 last year I think around summer when Best Buy did its first big game sale. In the ad it said all platforms for Rayman were $10, but Best Buy made the mistake of not excluding the Vita version. Most BBs honored it.
Ho damn, I was thinking Rayman was $10.
You're half-right, the PS3 version is $10. Wish they would just make it even for both versions, but that might confuse people further now that cross-buy is more common.

Thanks, picking this up. I think i've always enjoyed hex based strategies better all along, or it may just be King's Bounty influence, that game is seriously addicting
Another junky update this week IMO.
What, you don't like petz? You don't want psp games on your vita? What do you mean if you wanted psp games you would have bought a psp? Lol

Synching trophies on a new console :(

I want to be playing Scott Pilgrim, or God of War, or Joe Danger 2! I'm at 40% now, after 2 errors. Last time it took me like 9 hours and dozens of errors but my internet is quite a bit better so hopefully I can play something today.

for those interested, on the vita store in the psm section, it's under 'puzzle'.

here's hoping it's as good as, say, kitten sanctuary. always nice to have some games my wife likes available.

i've got a pile of new games on my vita, a couple hundred games in my ps3 backlog, and yet i still can't tear away from sine mora. i don't think i'm even close to capable of tje skill required to gett the last 2 or 3 promotions...

Sweeeeetttt!!!! I just got my $10 credit from Sony :D I thought they would never give me a penny since I was not very "loyal" to them (one time I got refunded because my plus renewed automally for 3 months and I emailed them telling that I did not want it or need it, then they politely cancelled PS+ and refunded me).- I don't know how "loyal" that is haha. Anyway, you should check your account too if you haven't receive anything so far :)

Well finally I got mine haha, it feels nice to get free money this way :) very nicely from them; thank you a lot Sony!!! They will be good used during this spend $50 get $10 back promotion :)
is cellfactor online dead? i remember the demo and thought it was decent.
Yep. Online was shut down.

Don't buy it.
9 hours to sync trophies!!!! if it takes longer than 3 minutes, just quit and try again at a later time
I'm talking about syncing a brand new console to your trophy list. For some reason it took 9 hours last time, it was about 3 hours this time, for 4500ish trophies. It only error'd twice this time, so it must have been my spotty internet before.

Both were super slims so it had to be that. Playing Scott pilgrim with an arcade stick online now, woo!

Doesn't PS Plus automatically sync trophies? Someone with 4500 trophies seems like they would be someone who would have PS Plus also.

I wish the just plain "Prince of Persia" was included in the sale. Trying to decide between Outland or I Am Alive.. have this weird feeling I Am Alive might be up for free on PS+ at some point.

Do you just want digital or something? That game is $3 used at Gamestop now in case you didn't know. I just recently played it and I enjoyed it. If the DLC for it was a buck or 2 during the sale, I probably would have pulled the trigger.
