Another funny thing about OW is that the upcoming mercy nerf will affect trophies. There is a trophy for 5-person res that will be unobtainable for the plat after she is nerfed. I haven't unlocked it yet and doubt i will in time 🙀 :whistle2:(
I thought of the same thing when Blizzard announced the nerf. I still have yet to get the trophy too. I really hope that it's addressed.

Nex Machina is more like Robotron 2064 than anything else. I've enjoyed evert Housemarque game I've played so far, and NM is as good as any of their other games.
That is an apt conclusion, but I would compare it more to Smash TV than Robotron (both Eugene Jarvis games). Robotron has everything onscreen at the start of the level, whereas SmashTV the battlefield adds things as the round proceeds like Nex.

As far as the original question Alienation is closer to a Diablo type game in my opinion, and not at all like Nex. It has character progression and searching for things on big maps. Nex is arena based, quick and upgrades are temporary that you lose upon death.

I'm a Mercy Main and already have the Huge Rez trophy but am still deeply bothered by the Mercy nerf. I feel they will likely change the trophy requirements to something else, but it's still ridiculous that they're going through these lengths for a character who was already perfect for her role. I suspect it's to make her more of a combatant in the new Deathmatch modes, but even then, it's just throwing off her balance in the regular modes. Plus, now that she has the ability to rez naturally, it raises the question of what button it will be assigned to since all the buttons are already taken.

Yeah Nex Machina is great. Picked it up last night and had a lot of fun with it.

I'm not much of a twin stick shooter fan but this seems to hit the right notes for me.

No Child of Light for North America eh? Oh well. Gotta say not really a month for me outside of inFamous, not really into the genres of most of the other games. But hey maybe one will surprise me and I will love it. Has happened more than once in my PS+ experience.

No, you're right on that - my immediate comparison to Robotron was because of "saving" humans with dual stick controls, but it's definitely more in line with Smash TV gameplay wise(it's controlled chaos). It's 100% worth it at $12

:ps4: Yakuza Kiwami - $29.99
What a great week for releases. I'm enjoying the hell out of Everybody's Golf, but I've been playing them since the '90s. Pillars of Eternity is fantastic unless you've already played it on PC. Yakuza Kiwami, amazing remake on-par with Yakuza 5 (great one to play right after Yakuza 5, in fact, since Yakuza 5 occurs first in the timeline).

Welp, have all the PS4/Vita games except Hue. :(
I have all the PS4/Vita games this month. Another wasted month for me but overall a decent set of games.

Hue is an excellent game. I really enjoyed it. A nice short, puzzle platformer with a good story.

I just noticed windjammers finally launched. Also Rigs & Strike Vector being free is awesome. I own both already, but more people playing online is great. Two really good games. Rigs especially.

The earlier PS+ list is wrong:

Update: An earlier version of this post featured an incorrect version of the September lineup. We have updated the list below with the final lineup for September.

Full Lineup
  • inFamous: Second Son, PS4
  • Strike Vector Ex, PS4
  • Truck Racer, PS3
  • Handball 2016, PS3
  • We Are Doomed, PS Vita (Cross buy with PS4)
  • Hatoful Boyfriend, PS Vita (Cross buy with PS4)
Monster Jam Battlegrounds, PS3
Hustle Kings, PS3
Hue, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4)
Sky Force Anniversary, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4 & PS3)
Here’s a bonus for PlayStation VR owners: PS Plus members in the US and Canada will also get RIGS Mechanized Combat League as a free bonus game from September 5 through November 7. RIGS is a first-person arena-based shooter developed from the ground up for PS VR. Set in the year 2065, it immerses players in an intense, all-action future sport that mixes elements from different athletic fields like combat sports, motorsports, basketball and football.

I was looking forward to Sky Force Anniversary as well as Hue...I know I wont even try Truck Racer and Handball 2016 and We Are Doomed doesn't look too great. Strike Vector looks a bit meh too. I already own I:SS, but Hatoful Boyfriend will get played at least.

Can anyone vouch for We Are Doomed? It looks like carbon copy Geometry Wars, but uglier. It's a shame that Sky Force was a mistake. It's a really fun shoot em up for those that enjoy a more relaxed experience.

Hatoful Boyfriend is one heck of an addition. I'm fairly sure I heard it's the greatest pigeon dating simulator in the history of gaming.

Strike Vector is great! Give it a chance.

Can someone tell me why EVERY game on the PSN store is highly rated? LOL, it is quite the mystery...
You have to learn how to interpret the system.. first, there are no 1 and 2 star ratings so the ratings start at 3 stars.. if it's 3 stars it's complete garbage.. there is no 3 1/2 star rating, a 4 star rating is about the equivalent to a metacritic 5, 4 1/2 stars is about a metacritic 6 - 7, and 5 stars is a metacritic 8+.

To those interested in Nex Machina, remember it is not a game you beat and move on. it is a game that you play over and over to improve your score/time, not unlike Super Stardust and Resogun (less like Alienation which is like space Diablo).  You will probably be able to blow through all the worlds on easy the first night.  It is an old school arcade style game - somewhat of a cross between Robotron and Smash TV (more to the latter) as it was made with the assistance of the guy that created those games.  I love it, got it when it first came out and did not regret it at all.  But those just looking for something to beat once and be done it might not be worthwhile, because it isn't incredibly long.

I thought hustle kings was odd since I believe it has been a PS+ title in the past, could be wrong though. I too am sad that Hue isn't a part of the month as I have almost bought it several times and it was the most interesting title in the list to me.. oh well. And wow are the PS3 offerings bad, maybe the worst offerings to date?

I never even look at the PS3 offerings since I haven't taken that system out of the box in years, but man, what a downgrade on those Vita offerings.

If Sony keeps doing this, I might buy a VR unit. Free games is eventually why I bought a Vita.

Debating on pulling the trigger for Nex Machina, or wait for it to be a PS+ title.

Also, I snagged Everybody's Golf yesterday from Best Buy, and emailed their gaming department on the forums to ask for a Pre-Order code.  Told me no problem and to email the PIN from my receipt.  Did so this morning and got a reply along the lines of "Sorry we can't get your code right now.  We have encountered an issue with them."  Lol I guess all those free games they handed out were the problem.

That's a really weird turn of a events with PS+. Can't say it really changes my opinion about the month very much though, mostly. Hatoful Boyfriend is one of those games I've always wanted to try out for laughs, so I guess there is that.

Super Meat Boy Forever is coming to PS4 next year:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DLPiGJDSQs

Yes, it's the sequel to the original.

More details from their press release:

If you’ve heard of Super Meat Boy Forever before, you’ll notice this looks a lot different than the game that was announced at PAX 2014. Early this year we basically started all over with a vision much bigger than the original vision for Super Meat Boy Forever...this is a true sequel...this is Super Meat Boy 2, but with a cooler name.

So what’s new in the sequel? Well let’s start with what’s the same:

  • Dr. Fetus is still a jerk
  • Gameplay is super challenging but still fair
  • There tight controls
  • There are beautifully designed levels, both visually and functionally
  • You will die...a lot.

Now for what’s new:

  • Meat Boy and Bandage Girl have a little baby named Nugget (awww). Dr Fetus has kidnapped Nugget, forcing Meat Boy and Bandage Girl to rescue her.
  • There are 6 new chapters with bosses, secrets, and new dynamically constructed levels in both the light world and the super difficult dark world.
  • Each time you beat a level, it reconstructs into a harder version of itself (up to a point...we aren’t gods). This is all carefully designed, we aren’t like, throwing 50,000 saws at you and calling it “hard”.
  • Meat Boy and Bandage Girl are no longer defenseless, they can punch and kick their enemies. Nothing feels better than punching a stupid mushroom guy in the face and launching it into a saw.
  • And, the big news, the controls controls are now two buttons, you have a jump, a jump attack, a dive, and a slide.

Now, you might be asking “How can you have a Meat Boy game with two buttons?” Well, the secret is you design the controls then you design levels that complement the controls. That’s how we did it with Super Meat Boy, and that’s how we’ve done it with Super Meat Boy Forever and it works amazingly well and it has the benefit of allowing anyone to pick up and play the game, but still offers a challenge on par with Super Meat Boy.

Bonuses were the 20th anniversary course (I believe an updated course from hot shots 1) and some cosmetic stuff. I really just want the course. :) And looking at the support forums on best buy, looks like several people, if not everyone, got the full game code.
I have no idea what Best Buy is doing here, they just sent me 2 more codes for the full game.. lol Once I confirm they aren't going to pull them back I guess I'll head over to the PSN Code trading thread.

If you log in to Street Fighter V some time before Tuesday, September 5, you'll get 30,000 FM. It's to celebrate Street Fighter's 30th anniversary.

I got the bonus fight money on two other accounts I have as well. I'm going to start earning the easy fight money on them so I can use them to unlock characters I'm not really interested in. That way I can at least practice with them to better understand their attacks. If I end up having fun with them I'll unlock them on my actual account.
