So is this auto play in battles a common thing for modern JRPGs now? Because I just discovered it on Conception 2 and it's quite lovely. Allows for more hockey watching and less me nodding off.
Auto Battle or dialog progressing without needing button presses? They've both been fairly common for at least few years now.

Well, ended up buying Persona®4 Golden™, Muramasa Rebirth and VAGRANT STORY®. Also purchased a 32GB PlayStation®Vita Memory Card.

Now I just need my BL2 PS Vita Bundle to arrive and I'm set.

I didnt understand the concept from the original linked clip of Nidhogg but liked the animation and aesthetic. After that quick look I'm really looking forward to having a few drinks and passing the controllers around with friends. Looks fantastic.

$14.99 on Steam.

Here's the game in action:
Yes, the graphics are primitive as fuck but it still looks incredibly fun. Especially with other people. Has local and online multiplayer, though I keep reading the online is borked so hopefully they fix that by the time we get it. And, the music, man...the music..!!!

Wish I could find the soundtrack but we'll probably have to wait until it hits a humble bundle. I don't mind the influx of indies, honestly. Doesn't hurt that Sony curates mostly good stuff. Only thing I can't stand is when we get games 5 years late or after it's been .50 on steam. Though I wouldn't mind yet another Cave Story port.

...fuck. My Co-op partner in bulletstorm disconnected on wave 17 almost 15 minutes ago. Now I'm sitting here like an idiot hoping he'll log back on.

update on No More Heroic Puzzles ---

Turns out that the 'lock' on being able to re-capture a hero is removed if you feed said character to make a upgraded monster.   which is fantastic.  you'll still need to farm the hell out of the mine for all eggs and that powerup though.

almost there.  almost.

----

nidhogg looks awesome, though i don't buy coop games.   i'm not exactly sure i understand the game from watching it but whatever.   (looked like 2 players going at each other, with the goal to pass either left or right to the next level, with your opponent doing the opposite... but i couldn't figure out if there were limited lives or levels, since it seemed endless).

I was planning on buying Child of Light all month.... after watching some players streaming it I'm going to hold off. It has free ps+ game written all over it. And even without that I couldn't believe you never upgrade your toons gear. Rpg without loot!?

2 questions for the Zen Pinball players:

Is there a preferred view?  I've stuck with the dynamic 7th view, but haven't given the others much look, as I can't see the difference/benefit.

Does anyone reliably use the tilt?  I don't like the feeling of instability in keeping my left thumb on the stick, so I invariably ignore the tilt mechanism to my peril.  Do I just need to up my reflexes?  And doesn't shoving the stick in different directions result in pushing the table in that direction?  Too much granularity there, but I just wondered if anyone else feels they've mastered it.

It's still worth the $15. True, you don't get as much loot as your typical RPG, but you do get plenty of gems to augment your characters. Admittedly, the crafting/gem system is pretty bare bones, but I had fun mixing and matching gems depending on what type of mobs I was facing.

I don't know about mastered, but I can save my ball pretty consistently. There are other situations where it comes in handy depending on the table. You definitely shouldn't ignore it.

As for the view, I do have a preferred view but I can't remember what the number was.

I agree, PS Plus in a year or two.

I can wait. My digital backlog is enormous. :cold:

Grabbed MGS HD for PS3, Tales and the chronos even with all the warnings I couldn't resist.

I'm on the fence about rain ATM but happy with what I grabbed thus far might as well just drop the 3 and change on rain.

Thanks for keeping the dream alive, Frisky. But copying and pasting the actual text is much more mobile friendly.

I was just about to ask if people thought I should buy Chrono Trigger in this sale or on the 3DS. I read through the last few pages, but didn't seen anything.
Yep the loading is atrocious. Save your 3+ dollars and put it towards the proper DS version, or even the Wii VC one.

I finally gave in and bought the $9.99 bundle for No Heroes Allowed.  I'm not sure I'll capture all the heroes and monsters, but the 3 games a day wasn't enough for me to get my fix.

The loading time when entering a battle or the menu *is* significant and annoying. So much so that I'd certainly recommend any other version of the game before the PSone port.
Don't worry about him. He's been trolling people all day all night about it. But you are absolutely right. The load time on the PS1 alone was infuriating. The DS version has the additional content as well. But if it doesn't bother him then that's great. Just move on already. No one esle is bring this up except for him every single day. Why? Don't know. But lets move on.

Mass Effect 3 Omega Freeeeeeeeeeee ( $15 value)

Choose a Version > Free > 1.8GB
Got it earlier today. People should go through the Store on their system, and it should work fine.

PS4 = overclocked atari. Good stuff.

I will say that I loathe the aesthetic of Nidhogg though.

I don't like these Retro games.. but they are at least games for a system that's not being turned on... (because it's being ignored by Sony)

At least the Xbox watches TV.. kinda... if it hears me on the third, fourth,or fifth repetition of the same words.  I don't even have an accent.. how to people from Wisconsin or New York or Louisiana get it to understand them..

I'm digging Murumasa SO far.  Trying to figure out WTF is happening though. Something about a demon taking over a girls body or something and not caring if it kills everyone good or evil.. sounds like a real peach.

...what? Are you saying Sony is ignoring the PS4?
Yep.. that's pretty much exactly what I'm saying..

I feign indignation at the PS+ stuff because I understand you'll not give out everything. And occasionally they do stuff like Mercenary Kings... but looking down the release list since launch and there's not much of anything worth a damn. MLB14 is releasing a MONTH after Baseball Season started and the other versions came out. The "launch" title of Drive Club MIGHT be out in October (seriously, a YEAR delay?). From now until June the only game I'm commited to buying from them is Watch Dogs.. everything else is a wait an see. Through October and you can add Dragon Age and the Crew to that list.

So I own a PS4.. and I've bought.... 3-4 games on it since launch.. and another 2-3 games for the ENTIRE YEAR. So yes, I feel Sony is pulling a Nintendo on their launch of this system. (I will note, to be fair, I have the EXACT same issue with XBO... I think I'm done being an early adopter.. because I'm only getting screwed in the process... every.. single.... time.)

Got screwed being an early adopter of the 3DS, once and I've learned my lesson and taken it to heart. New and shiny ain't everything people.

I don't remember the preferred camera view either, but the tilt is essential to higher-level play. Skip to 1:05 in this video.

yeah, you're talking like this is the first console launch you've ever seen. this is how every single launch ever has been and will be forever. there's always a handful of launch games and then a gigantic lull and then a round of announcements that generate excitement for new titles (a la e3) and then a gigantic lull until any of those start showing up. usually things start looking less grim around the end of year 2.

at least the ps4 is peppering in a boatload of indies which keeps new things (even if you dislike them) constantly coming every week.

I want to preface this by saying that I love the 3DS, and I don't regret being an early adopter. It was almost a year after the 3DS came out that you could say it had 3-4 good games. Sony is doing much better.

Having bought a PS3 at launch and not a PS4 at launch (only due to enormous backlog on PS3 from being without it for a while after a YLOD), I think the PS4 launch has been better. When you account for the free PS+ games and the indie games, there is more choice and variety. I am glad I have been able to "purchase" the free games for the PS4 for when I do buy a PS4.

I know they are not all next gen exclusive... But I am greatly enjoying my PS4 and playing games like FIFA, NBA 2k, Madden, Lego Marvel, Infamous, Resogun, and Tomb Raider.  I get a free game each month that lasts me a few weeks of entertainment.  I have MLB the Show to look forward to, and then I have the Last of us coming soon as well!  I am perfectly happy with my PS4, mostly because of how much better an experience I am getting than my ps3 did.  for me it is the console infrastructure that makes it better for me and I enjoy the cross platform and ported last gen games.

EDIT: Also finally picked up Person a 4 to see what all the hoopla is all about!

I am still amazed that PS4 and XB1 even have sold as many as they have.   I was actually surprised the other day when I saw an actual PS4 sitting on the shelf at Best Buy.  It was the first time I had seen one on the shelf at any store that sells them.

I bought a PS2 at launch and while I am sure there was a drought of games I dont remember there being so few (exclusives or true next gen) as there are for PS4.  I am sure my memory is just fuzzy, but I remember having a lot of fun with SSX.

Aside from Spelunky for PS4 which of course I'm super excited about - love the addition of adding replays to high scores and of course streaming is going to be great - a bunch of those upcoming indies look awesome! And Nidhogg I have heard nothing but great things about in particular.

I saw 2 PS4s in a cage at BB last night. They had 5-6 XB1s. I'd seen XB1s before but that was the first time I recall seeing a PS4 out on display and not just a display box.

I am just noticing the name of this one game from the slew of ones announced on the PS Blog yesterday- Starwhal: Just the Tip. Best subtitle for a game ever? I think so.

Sucks for you. I've probably got about 15-20 games for PS4 so far since the PSN games are doing a good job of filling the gaps between big releases.

SSX was my go to game on the PS2 for months. That and DOA2 were the only games I got and played immediately.
