It's set several years after Escape From Monkey Island, which was the 4th game of the series released back on the PS2, so yes.

From what I can tell on Wikipedia, the release order is also the story order, so it goes:

The Secret of Monkey Island

Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge

The Curse of Monkey Island

Escape from Monkey Island

Tales of Monkey Island

From what I've played of the series, you don't really need to play any of them in order to get what's going on since they're mostly self-contained adventures on their own.

 
I want to buy the Crash and Spyro games but unfortunately they are not compatible with the Vita. I wonder if Sony will ever get around to fixing this. Do you guys think it is worth a gamble? It's not like I'll be playing them right away.

They're not Sony's games to "fix", as it's up to Activision as to whether they'd like to get them compatible with the Vita.

 
Well, here's my haul from this sale

The only "new" games I'm getting are Tokyo Jungle and Tales of Monkey Island (decided to get the rest of the Crash and Spyro games I didn't have on PSN, so I could just have them on my PS3 to play whenever I wanted to)

 
I have the Crash and Spyro games on my Vita. I downloaded them onto the PS3 way back when they were free for plus, than transferred them over to the vita.

I don't remember if I actually tried playing them....

Many thanks for the help everyone. I was getting confused with the hd remakes. Three telltale games is probably more point and click than I will ever need.

You can transfer them in NA, they just won't work like they will in other regions.

And that's where I completely lose the plot. It works in the UK and AU for certain and likely in other regions as well. The code for the games is slightly different between regions but you would think that any actual work they had to do on it would be on the emulator end and that should be entirely portable across regions. So that goes back then to it being an intentional decision on their part.

Probably still going to grab both series in full but it's irritating none the less to know I should be able to play them the way I want but can't.

I know you can play them with remote play on vita from PS3. At least with CTR.

 
I think I'll get Tokyo Jungle. Not sure about anything else. I've got quite a few of these already. I might try one of the Crash games. Maybe Jurassic Park. Might also try Retro/Grade with the positive impressions here.

Everyone who buys Braid gets a free "Like" from me. Think of it as a little bit of a bonus for buying the game.

This is from MY review of Braid:

If you only play one puzzle-platformer in your time, Braid would be very close to the top of my list. It personifies the genre better than almost anything that came before it or after, and did so before the genre was anywhere near as prolific as it is today. If for some reason the story doesn't grab you the brilliant puzzle designs will, and those that look deeper be duly rewarded with what has been placed beneath the surface. I savored my time with it and am now, like our protagonist, wishing I could go back and relive it over again.

The sequels are probably a lot better though, right?

I wouldn't say the sequels are miles ahead of the game(s) that came before them, because they are all very solid even today, but they do progress in quality with each game. If you don't like one though you probably won't like the others, but at that point I'd have to call you a monster because Crash and Spyro are awesome.

Just picked up Braid Super Stardust HD Everyday Shooter and PvZ. The last 3 I had on my old psn id and was too cheap to rebuy. Until 2day #.99cents sale

Well, I'm not a monster...there's just too many games to play.

Just deleted Escape Plan Vita to make room for Lumines and Dead Nation.

Escape Plan just was too frustrating and eventually not enough fun.

 
I loved Braid, but I wonder how The Witness will compare. I know Jonathan Blow is striving for something totally different (i.e. Hipster alert!) but I found Braid to have a sweet design that meshed really well the story and primary gameplay mechanic.

The game mechanics and controls improved with each iteration of the series (especially with Crash). They are awesome games and absolutely worth the price. The only question is will you play them on the PS3? I haven't touched my PS3/360 in months. I just don't have the time. So that's why I was hoping to play them on the Vita.

Assuming you and the ninja squirrel haven't already played too much, we could start playing on Monday and the first one to 100% trophies (or most challenges done after a week) wins. To make it interesting, everyone could put up $4 so the winner essentially gets the game for free. That shouldn't be a prize that people desperately want so we could just go on the honor system that you aren't cheating or having someone else help you beat the game.
 
I was surprised how many games in this $0.99 sale were previous Plus Freebies. The only things I bought were Sam & Max and Monkey Island.

And, maybe the Crash and Spyro games aren't on my Vita. Sorry for disseminating false information. (Could have sworn I transferred them over before. Maybe I did, and then deleted them to make room?)

Really disappointing they never added trophies, the game has built in stat tracking, seems like it would have been so simple. Great game nonetheless.

 
Can we discuss The Wolf Among Us? Ok, cool.

So, A Crooked Mile is the defining moment of The Wolf Among Us (similar to Episode 5 of The Walking Dead: Season 1) in my opinion. It is excellent and highlights the true complexity of what Bigby struggles with. So far, this is Telltale at its best and man, they have a lot to live up to in Episode 4. Do you think the same? Or are more inclined in the pace set in TWD Season 1 or 2?

Well I've already played about a 1/4-1/3 of it, and have it on Steam not PSN (so no trophies). Also I really dislike the game so I'd rather not play anymore if I could help it, but if my honor's at stake...
 
Naturally, I finally break down and buy Best of Playstation Hits Vol. 1 for $13 (mostly for Tokyo Jungle) on Friday, and then it goes on sale for $0.99.  Good thing I haven't opened it and can return it.

 
Bought a ton of the .99 cent games. Great to get those oddball games that weren't worth full price (IMO) like Tokyo Jungle. Along with being able to play Sypro (which never owned a PS1).

Classic games really should only be between .99 - 5.00, and maybe 10 at the most from maybe some of the rare stuff.

Everyday adding to my HUGE backlog. :rofl:
