MLB 14 has been a rather enjoyable trophy romp. Can't wait for the PS4 version.

Final Fantasy X HD is giving me the dirty eye.
 
Does MLB The Show let you take an outfielder and make him an extra infielder (5 infielders, 2 outfielders)? I had no idea this was even allowed until witnessing it in last nights Rays vs Yankees game (and it worked). Oh, and way to beat down those evil Yankees, Tampa Bay!!!

You can put on various shifts for different situations. I doubt you can do anything like that though. I haven't actually tried.

Also, Pete, you end to stop sucking at FFX for a little bit and get your Amazon trade thread on track.

It was pretty awesome. Stats showed that the Yankee batter hit the ball on the ground something like 75% of the time, so they did that and sure enough he grounds out to the 1st basemen who was playing between 1st and 2nd (the outfielder was on first).

I can't seem to find highlights of this online...sounds cool though.

EDIT: Found it on MLB.com. Weird looking. Sounds like a crazy ass game all around. Yanks definitely blew some good chances.

it's true! I am quite terrible at ffx _and_ at running the amazon trade in thread. just two more things to add to the list of things I don't have in common with total wangburglars.
 
Can somebody tell me which version of Guacamelee! I should buy? Which one has faster loading times? Also are the loading times better than the Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger PS1 ports?

I now have the trophies for Monster and Hero compendiums in No Heroes Allowed. I bet they're going to be rarer than my xcom plat, which i believe is currently my rarest. I do not wish those trophies on anyone. 10x worse than pure bladestone, easy... at least then you were only hoping for 1 super rare thing, not a couple dozen.

The game is rad, though.

I still need to beat the game in secret world, which is seriously difficult.   And then I still won't get 100% completion since you need an ad-hoc game.

Ad-hoc trophies are the worst. I know I'll probably never plat Conception 2 because of a stupid ad-hoc trophy.
 
Finally made my decision and went with MGS HD collection for PS3 instead of Vita. I look forward to rewatching cut scenes after I repeatedly fall asleep to them on my couch.

Isn't guacamelee cross-buy? Both versions run just fine, but I preferred the console version over the vita version because of the timing needed with a lot of the platforming. It just felt easier to do with a controller.

Just bought and started Guacamelee, really fun game - probably worth the full $14.99. Has a platinum for trophy hunters and great Metroidvania style gameplay and a dash of humor - I even spotted Grumpy Cat in there already.

Might buy: Arcania, Midnight Club,

Not sure about:

Tomb Raider Guardian of Light, I'm not sure if I'd be into that game, I might check out a demo first if possible.

Spec Ops On the Line, Heard good things about the story, but it sort of looks like just another war game.

Mini Ninjas: I don't know... is this actually good?

Mark of Kri: No idea what this one is.

Not interested at all in: Fat Princess, The Raven, Datura - not for me, I don't care how easy the platinums are.

Duke Nukem, good game, ignore the reviews - worth $5 easily (I paid $30).

Kane & Lynch 2, eh... not so great, short and sloppy wannabe Uncharted shooting mechanics.

Red Faction Armageddon, still sealed.

Mortal Kombat, looks cool, but haven't touched it yet.

MX vs ATV, found it for $5 at Kmart, haven't touched it. 

Darksiders, haven't touched it.

Max Payne 3, looks good, haven't touched it.

Bioshock 1, awesome, buy it.

Bioshock 2, awesome, I actually liked this a litte more than 1, and way more than Infinite - though I haven't played Buried DLC.

GTA IV, good, worth $5.

Red Dead Redemption, looks great, but haven't touched it yet.

LA Noire, finished the Complete Edition, found it more (unintentionally) funny than anything else. Little to no replay value.

 
About to get my first platinum with Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. Just the ending to go still. Fun game, but I have to say it hasn't aged well; the camera and controls are pretty bad. The entirety of the difficulty of the game comes from those two things. Hoping 2 and 3 (when I get to them) are better in that respect.

My PS3 came with a free 3 month trial pass, so I'm unable to "buy" the 2-week trial unfortunately :I.

I wish these trials didn't have an expiration date so that I could save them for great sales like this week. If someone in this thread were to happen to have a spare 7-day trial pass however, I'm looking to buy one so PM me please! :D I've tried the trade forum already, but it seems people are pretty adamant about keeping them :p.

Speaking of which, does anyone know when the golden week sale is over? Obviously, after Golden week ends, but does it last until Tuesday, aka the next update, like most sales do?

 
Guac is really pretty fun. I have trouble getting anywhere in Spelunky.

So...my Sony account got banned because I did a charge dispute when it auto renewed me the $15 charge for 3 months.

I wanted to buy the 12 month renewal instead. Forgot I had auto renewal on.

Took forever to get a web chat with a sony rep going. Now they say I have to pay that disputed $15 first.

No, I want to give you $50, I tell them.

Okay, call this 1-800 ....

Like I want to spend another half hour on the phone dealing with this.

 
I don't know about Jak and Daxter's controls being bad, but I can sort of agree about the camera since they don't offer vertical control and the camera is a physical object following you that freaks out in tight areas like many games of that generation. I'm glad that most games don't have those issues anymore, but it certainly hits home how much better simple things like camera control is now than it was even ten years ago.

The only issue I had with the controls when I played Jak and Daxter recently is that there are some cheap areas that asks for really precise platforming/controls and some of the side stuff doesn't control that well.

Challenge room DLC for guacamelee is pretty fun, and you can wait till after you finish the game to buy it if you want. The suit pack (each has a different set of powers) you should only buy if you plan to use it as you are playing as if you wait till you've done your (2) playthrough(s) to buy it they won't have much of a use.

That Spec Ops looks just like your average bro shooter is the trap, at about the 1/3rd mark is when the trap starts to spring. For best results don't read anything about it before playing. It also features the excellent voice work of Nolan North (Nathan Drake from Uncharted).

Yeah, those areas are what I was referring to. Anything where you're on a vehicle especially is quite annoying. Combined with the control issue, the camera just makes things much worse. It's not unplayable, but the two together were at fault for just about every death I had.
