Anyone have both of the Star Wars table sets that are on sale? Is one preferable over another? Should I just get both?

People play that Pinball game now? I remember when it came out for free everyone was trashin' it. A little community competition goes a long way.

is battle of z worth $15? thanks
There's a demo available. But going by reviews, impressions from the demo, and the fact that it's a DBZ game, I would say no, unless you're a hardcore fan, in which case I would probably still say no.

At best wait for that one to hit some of the rock bottom prices we've been seeing, like $5 or less.

It's too bad since Naruto has been able to get out some fun games but Dragonball can't get the same treatment. It's just not a series conducive to good playing games.

I think the first batch is better than Balance of the Force, but both are decent sets of tables, especially at half off (though I got the first batch free through PS+).

Speaking of community competition I'm not great but if anyone wants feel free to friend me (NemesisConvoy) and I'll at least try to provide some competition :D
Curious, and y'all know more than I do: Any chance Chrono Trigger/Cross and Vagrant Story go on deeper discount at some point? And is Guacamelee! likely to be a PS+ game?
PS1 games rarely go on sale, so buy those. I will almost guarantee Guacamelee will be PS+

is battle of z worth $15? thanks

There's a demo available. But going by reviews, impressions from the demo, and the fact that it's a DBZ game, I would say no, unless you're a hardcore fan, in which case I would probably still say no.

At best wait for that one to hit some of the rock bottom prices we've been seeing, like $5 or less.

It's too bad Naruto since Naruto has been able to get out some fun games but Dragonball can't get the same treatment. It's just not a series conducive to good playing games.
No, it isn't. At $5-8 sure.
The game battles are played similarly to the Naruto games, but w/ co-op cpu/online, but the mechanics are not as crisp and there are really no movies to finish the battles or QTE. Missions on the game are just battles, sometimes not cannon. The game doesn't select automatically the fighters for the mission if you want to go at it the original way, it also doesn't let you pick just any one.

I bought the vita version and I think I overpaid ($10). While the characters and stages look good enough the missions become stale and the menus are not to my liking. There are random things that unless you play for the first third of the game you wouldn't know like for example that you need an item (you buy w points from battles) to unleash a special attack. The characters always seem to get stuck between a rock and a hard place and even though they have fallen hand you are kicking them they won't get any damage. To summarize if you have a vita and love dbz and want to have dbz on hand then yes buy it otherwise no.

Vagrant Story seems pretty fun so far. Not that I've gotten very far in it yet. The controls are a bit wonky, but I expected that and it doesn't really bother me. I wonder how long I'll stick with it? Usually with RPGs I get a little way in then put it down and then forget what I was doing and then trying to go back to it seems like more trouble than its worth/impossible. Though so far the game is completely linear - good in my case. Not sure if it stays that way.

I ended up buying Cross and Vagrant Story (I have Chrono Trigger for the DS, which I've heard is the definitive version anyway), and biting the bullet and buying Guacamelee!, too, because I'm waiting for a good month to activate the PS+ subscription card I have, and Guacamelee! isn't going to be the thing that sways me.

Thanks for the advice, all.

Am I the only schmuck in here playing Conception 2? Those main dungeons go on foreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever. I don't know if this is normal for modern dungeon crawler RPGs, but man that shit gets tedious. Probably doesn't help that every floor and dungeon feels pretty much the same, save different wallpaper in each one. I would have given up long ago if it wasn't for auto-play letting me grind while watching hockey and basketball playoffs.

I think that's just Conception 2, I'm already a bit tired of it...but still going at it now and then. My main problem is the lack of enemies, the repetitiveness of battle, the general weak power of the star children (imho), dungeons looking too samey. If it wasn't for the conversations afterward and the slight story I would have gotten rid of it. I use sped up battle as well......not a bad idea!

Quick question about Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection for PS3: I see that's a whopping 21GB. Is that a bundle or can I download each game individually? I only want to install Peace Walker at the moment.

People play that Pinball game now? I remember when it came out for free everyone was trashin' it. A little community competition goes a long way.
Not many people here in this thread whined about it. Most the people here like pinball. Most the people here aren't whiny little runts either.

Pinball is awesome, but Zen Pinball is not. Not whining, rather, stating FACT. And you know it's true for everyone because that is uppercase.

I fuck ing hate Spelunky!

It's digital crack and I'm hooked like a homeless junkie. Just when you think you couldn't possibly make it from the mines to the end of the ice caverns bringing Mr. Tunnel man the frigging gold key you go on a tear shit up run and hand it over to him and he builds you another tunnel. As much as the Temple wants to make me rage quit I hit quick restart instead. I'm doomed.

It might be the best game ever.

I agree with everything you said, except the story is boring me too. I find myself just skimming what I can in the time between when the text shows up and when I hit the button to advance. Basically I'm only continuing to play to unlock all the features so I can write an informed review. Otherwise I'd have bailed a while ago.

While in theory you can get through the Temple by taking that shortcut, in practice it is very difficult because you have nothing except 4 (non-glue) bombs and 4 rope. The whole point of that key exercise is, I think, to get you to start playing from the beginning, which you'll now be capable of doing. You know you are because you just managed to carry the damn key all the way to it! The Temple shortcut isn't totally useless, though. I would recommend using it a bunch of time just to learn what you are in for. But start from the beginning once you are ready to get further.

pouring one out for my lost homie jay this morning

NHL 15 is coming to new-gen which is great, but no Vita which is not surprising.

Mike Emrick will be doing the commentary now which is awesome, he's definitely my favorite commentator in sports today.

I do realize it probably makes more sense to go at it from a full run but I actually have been making it to Olmec pretty regularly...even got him in the lava once but then I died after getting some chime music (like a door unlock sound) so I never got to see the result :(. I think I'm having fun in just trying it this way. I kind of just want to see the end, haven't thought about the Hell run or any of the other "secrets" yet. I think the only thing I really found was the Black Market...I know there is more. I'm just wondering if I "need" to look up this stuff or just aimlessly be surprised. Either way this game is insane.

Spelunky sucks

I've enjoyed my time with the Zen Pinball tables on 3DS, and now with the Star Wars tables, but I prefer Pinball Arcades real live tables better. Physics just feel more natural to me. Plus nostalgia.

A thing about Zen that really irks me is how goddamnmutherfucking long it takes to complete a table mission or task. Like in Tales of Arabian Nights, the Lamp stories consist of hitting a couple ramps or a few targets and you're done. Friggin Zen tables have you hit this one specific ramp and then this one and now these three targets and now these five specific ramps in order and you have 15 seconds good luck. And if you don't do all that, the mission doesn't count towards progress. At least with Arabian Knights and Star Trek and the like, you get credit for just starting it.

So there's my one rationed whiny rant for the day. Carry on (my wayward son).

You're better than me, then! I think maybe I made it to Olmec once by using that shortcut.

Does anyone else get bothered when you get hooked on pinball or some sports game where you just keeping doing the same thing over and over again? I mean of course I have but sometimes I feel like wow I'm really wasting my time I could be completing chapter 7 of game "X" and making it to the end instead! I realize we are all just entertaining ourselves but sometimes I prefer to feel like I'm making some sort of arbitrary "progress" in a game.

You've been around long enough to know the answer to this question.
I figured I've been around long enough to think I know the answer to that question, so that's why I asked.

I assume it works like other PSN purchases. It should be in your download list. Also you should be able to just go to the store listing and it should say Download instead of buy. Or something. I forget exactly what it says.
Thanks, I'll take a look when I get the chance.

I experience this much. Totally get the "need to feel like you're making progress" thing. At least with Road to the Show, it feels more progressy.

Then again, pinball is titsapoppin so I don't feel too bad.
