That's the reason I haven't jumped into Saints Row or Just Cause that are sitting in my backlog. If I start now, I may have it beaten by fall

Would anyone recommend snagging the ME trilogy right now for $15 if I'm not going to play it any time soon. Plus and Gold have created a huge backlog for me, and I'm lucky if I complete a game every 2 or 3 months. I'm leaning towards no, but $5 per game is hard to pass up.
I don't recommend it. It sounds like the next gen trilogy (assuming it really does exist) will be $15 by the time you get around to it. That being said, I rarely take my own advice...

Also, thanks to PS Plus, I own last gen versions of stuff like Tomb Raider and Metro which have next gen versions, so perhaps this means we'll get the PS3 trilogy for free at some point in the future. This seems doubtful, though.

I really don't understand the double size requirement for installing. It's such a bad approach. Didn't they do that on the PS4 as well?
Think of patches like you might zip files.

You need to download the zip file, but you still need room to unzip the actual uncompressed files to while integrating them with the actual build.

Depending on how it's implemented, you might be able to get away with directly copying over the original pre-patch files (saving space) but there are drawbacks to this method as well (ie, if something goes wrong or it's cancelled, everything is corrupted where as with a workspace you can roll back changes if necessary.

As for the PS4, that thing installs and patches so fast it's never once got in the way of me playing a game. Their new partial install magic is magic.

You can find disk copies of 2 and 3 dirt cheap, so if you're unsure I'd say it wouldn't hurt too much to wait.

Well I need to step up my game, number 4 is right there for the taking.

I'd be scared to see what that looks like if you combined it with AWD and XBL threads. Where did you get that data anyway?
On the main page, find this thread and click the post count. Or any thread. You got alot of adding to do. I ran into a bug on GoW for sure, if you let your Vita go in sleep mode while the game is suspended, it won't register any trophies until you restart the game. Got me good.

Yeah, I don't think it would be wise for me to throw away money on a game I won't play for months.

I dont waste hours upon hours in GTA either. I havent played any GTA online. I play each GTA to see the story and upgrade whatever I can along the way. Then I might explore a bit for some collectables and thats it. Just seeing all the different easter eggs they hide in these game and seeing all the landscapes is fun to me. And I try all the mini games and side missions at least once. More fore the fun games like parachuting and flying through hoops etc.
I haven't been able to do it in 5 nearly as much as past games (backlog, adult life, blah..), but wasting time exploring IS GTA for me. Complaints about the story/characters always seem silly to me since a very small portion of my game time is actually spent doing story stuff or side missions.

Rockstar has definitely gotten better at making stories in these games, but I think they are always going to be kind of subpar in the open world genre because of you being able to do story missions in a different order or with varying amounts of time between missions ("Oh something really important just happened in the story, but I'm going to play golf for a few hours before doing something about it).

But back to the point, the real appeal of GTA for me has always been the stories I make myself just cruising around (man that sounds corny). Like I climbed to the top of the one mountain in 5 and there was some guy standing there with a bike. So I knocked him off a ledge and started riding his bike down it. Accidentally fell off the side so I parachuted to the ground and stole some guy's car then went on a rampage with the cops. I dunno. It's just mindless fun in a ridiculously detailed and fully featured game world. It is the total opposite of boring for me.

Exactly. Ridiculously detailed is right.

Nice bundle. No pack in? Too bad I already own a Vita and PS4. I think I just like the picture.

Dark Souls 2 DLC

(Presumed) FROST GIANTS!!! :D/

So more exploration of the previous age of the gutter area, the Iron Keep area, and a new frozen area?

Oh no...episodes, that means 3 different paid DLC instead of one like in DS1. Hopefully they are all Artorias of the Abyss length. I wonder if they will be nice and give the first episode discounted for those who have the black armor edition DLC.

Three episodes at $9.99 each. From Polygon The Lost Crowns DLC will arrive in three parts. Episode 1: Crown of the Sunken King is slated for a July 22 release, Episode 2: Crown of the Old Iron King will arrive on August 26 and Episode 3: Crown of the Ivory King is set for September 24.

If you never played any ME games then I definitely recommend. ME2 might be my favorite game this generation. I knew nothing about it going in, played the demo, didn't like it, but bought it based on reviews. When I played it I was floored. I haven't played ME1 yet as I have been waiting for a sale on it but 2 and 3 are terrific. Grab all 3 for $15 if you never played any of them.

As for the GTA V conversation, I just started it and I feel like it's the best GTA by leaps and bounds. I typically play for the story missions, some side, and a little exploring. When I played saints row 3 I felt that they got the open world formula right by starting with a crazy mission (bank robbery and swat teams) instead of the usual GTA drive someone here, pick up this package stuff. Just a few missions in, GTA V seems to correct the slow starts of the past and every mission so far has felt like a video game/action movie, which in my opinion, is exactly how it should be. The story is much more fun when you feel like you're playing a video game or a movie rather than running errands.

i think $500 for a ps4/vita/year of ps+ would be great
Is there some basis for this statement or are you just coming up with dream bundles? I doubt you'll see this kind of pricing any time soon.

I think the older ME1 gets, the more disappointing it will be for someone who started on 2 like I did. I played 2, 1, and then 3. Since you know the story your choices don't matter as much and you'll be confused by whatever choices you made or the game made in 2 and 3. Also, the gameplay is kind of poor in 1. The basic story of 1 is, however, pretty good. Just make sure your expectations are tempered if you ever do get around to 1. I'd love to see the next gen version of 1 have a lot of improvements, but that doesn't seem likely.

Appreciate the heads up. I was thinking about getting the trilogy just to play 1 but I'm likely holding off hoping they go on sale separately in the near future.

Just saw the new change on PS+ page on PSN. Lame now you only have access to vita PS+ on vita when you log into PSN via vita. I was hoping to get SLy Cooper since it's a cross buy.

Also, there's a rumor going around that the "free gift" for attending the Sony E3 theater presentations is a Battlefield: Hardline beta code. Much Disappoint.
I don't know how people got stuck on the idea that the gift would be anything more than something like this. They sure as hell were not going to be giving out thousands of PS4s or Vitas or even full games. If it was anything more substantial than a PS+ trial code I would have been shocked.

Yeah, but that kind of price would easily move units. It's not like they'd lose more money on the PS4. What's so bad about including a Vita and a PS+ year for $100, if it moves PS4s at MSRP? The sale of PS4s has slowed to a crawl because people have realized the current library is lacking/the hype's finally died down, they need a promo to start pushing them again.

This way, they can boost sorely needed Vita hardware/software sales and they build the PS4 install base. I don't see anything unrealistic about that scenario aside from it probably being a Black Friday kind of thing.

Wasn't that a press release for the UK a few months back?

As for those wanting to play ME 1 before 2 and 3, I'm afraid you'll be more inclined to stop playing ME after the first one. I would start with 2 and then go to 3. 2 has a digital novel that covers the events in 1 well enough.

Other than story, the other 2 are much better. You're more likely to not want to play ME1 if you've already played 2 and 3. The combat in the first one is terrible compared to ME2 and 3.

I may be in the minority, but I played the original after 2 and still loved it. Of course the gunplay isn't as refined, but there are more actual rpg elements in the first.

I'm guessing they are not very profitable right now with the PS4 at MSRP. According to them it is profitable, but it can't be by very much. That would mean they would be losing a ton of money at $500 for this bundle since the Vita is almost certainly losing a good bit of money at $100 or less by your logic. Not to mention free PS Plus and whatever profit margin they may or may not have on it.

Confirmed I am waiting for an Ultimate Edition of this game now.

ME1 is absolutely worth playing. Best story of all three. Also has the best final boss battle. It's just encumbered with a confusing inventory system and clunky combat. I wouldn't recommend going backward..

Cracking the top ten, huh. Considering I have sit out the Tyler controversy and Plus adopting a 2x2x2, I'm surprised at my ranking. That said, time to step it up and go all Stotch!

Now that I think about it, half of Stotch's posts were him bragging and pointing out how handsomepete sucks at FF X HD. That has to be readjusted.

ME1 suffered from doing too much with their systems without polishing them up first.  Combat was okay, RPG upgrades were good, but inventory management, ground based exploration side missions, UI and level loading were terrible.  If they do port to PS4/XB1, I hope they can take the better PC version and make it even more refined.  Scrap the cookie-cutter side mission planets in favor or pre-designed outposts and clean up the landscape so you don't feel like you are playing an early 90's fractal based sim.

Include all of the DLC and I'll buy a copy the next time I go to replay it.

I don't like grand theft auto games too much. Should I play the copy of watch dogs I got or bail out while there's still time?
Everything that's been said by others here is spot-on so I won't reiterate. I'm one of the resident "story" guys so I can at least offer that perspective. Overall... it's mediocre. But act 2, man... act 2 is gold. They really could have just run with that and had something solid. Unfortunately it's only a fraction (albeit the largest) of the campaign so I'm not sure it's enough to redeem it. Whether you should bail depends largely on what you're looking to get out of the game. The online is better than GTAV's. The combat is also better. It probably beats GTA's side missions as well. But, again, the story/campaign just isn't good, especially when compared to GTA. The driving is iffy, but manageable.

The PS4 has arrived.

I like the DualShock 3 better.
 Crazytalk. DS4 shits on every iteration of dualshock. Has literally breathed new life into playing games for me. Hell, I even think dualshock 2 is better than DS3. Opinions and all but I have no idea where you're coming from with this.

Considering that the DS, DS2 and DS3 were pretty much of identical except for cabling, I don't see how you developed a preference. DS4 is the only meaningful change since they foolishly omitted rumble from the SixAxis.

I have to admit that I didn't expect the trend of "remasters" that have cropped up, but I do prefer it being of games that are good or great, instead of shovelware.

Agreed, and even though 1/4-to-1/3 of handsomepete's posts were Octodad-related, his stats shouldn't be changed at all because Octodad.

Dat DS4 though... No comparison. :speaktothehand:
