Some tips for the early portion of No Man's Sky from my time with the game:

• It's probably best to not go over a full stack of any one element to save on inventory space. Sell off or use the rest for recharge whatever needs recharged.
• Definitely explore all of the ? areas on each planet for some easy ways to get blueprints and other items/elements. There should also be some sort of habitat that'll refill your radiation/heat/cold bars for planets that have some harsh conditions to them.
• When refilling or recharging something on your ship, multi-tool, or exosuit, the % listed for each possible item you can use says how much of a charge it can provide. So, if your life support is at 25%, an item that with 75% on it will fill up the whole thing.
• When you do get your ship up and running, press O for a boost to go faster and when in space, hold down R1+L1 to go into a warp drive mode for even faster travel.
• Shoot the asteroids and such in space for easy elements.
• Name and upload planet/area names for some easy money.
• Look for a nearby space station when you get into space for a guaranteed way to be able to sell/buy some stuff. You can also interact with ships in the dock to potentially buy/sell stuff or buy their ships outright if you have the cash for it.
• Don't mine new stashes when your inventory is full, as it'll just disappear into the ether.
• You can get some free Carbon from potted plants in habitats or space stations.

Word, Capcom never really had a great reputation with dlc and how they priced stuff. This gen tho, they're really hitting it out of the park. RE4, RE5, & RE6, and now the three DR games. As someone who primarily plays on ps4.... I friggen loved sunset overdrive. I thought that game was fantastic. I'll still pick ps4 if it's cross platform pretty much every time but still. Xbone has a few gems and they're well worth playing.

On another note I've been playing NMS... Not typically the kind of game I play but so far I'm loving it. Not sure how long I'll be able to go before I get bored and move on but so far it's a blast.

I never played any crafting or mining games so I'm probably in the best situation possible considering I think the fundamental design of those types of games is poor. I like NMS so far but see the arch of hype post release dropping quickly as everyone realizes there's not much to actually say about it. It's a beautiful but pretty empty game.

You're missing out on an absolutely fantastic game, Terraria. When I first played it, I died several times and just didn't get it. But I went back to play a few more times, and it really hooked me. Getting used to the controls took a little while, but eventually it clicked. Also, it plays fantastically on the Vita, due to touch screen inventory controls and zooming the view. The only downside to the Vita version, vs. the PS4 version, is that the world size is smaller.

Looks like people are trying to crucify the No Mans Sky guy. He said running across other players are unlikely since the universe is so large and then after release he tweeted that it is not a multiplayer game.

I will wait and see what happens and if multi is in an update or if it is a server issue, but no way I am giving this guy any money.

I havent played it much so I cant tell how deep the crafting or mining stuff goes. My gut tells me its pretty shallow though. Maybe it can be updated to the kind of depth minecraft has eventually?

But for me its much more about the exploring. It boggles my mind how large even 1 planet is! Then you take off and see 3-4 more planets you can go explore. After that you take off into different systems which have their own planets to explore as well. At that point you can zoom out and see the absolute ENDLESS stars and systems you can go to.

It can be overwhelming.

The limited gameplay is a problem though. Thats why I say be careful before buying. If you're not into the exploring aspect its not going to be that fun for you.

Agree with you on that. Was only going to play for 2 hours yesterday, and ended up playing for 6. The crafting aspect of the game is a bit confusing so it might throw some people off, and you may be bored after a while if you are not n to this sort of game. I died a lot yesterday trying to blindly fire at enemy spaceships while trying to run away. I personally think it's pretty awesome for someone who likes that sort of game.

They never said that it was multiplayer. They said they liked unique styles of multiplayer games. They never said, "Come explore the universe with your friends." People are being WAY too critical of this game because they made their own assumptions that were based on little to no information.

I have to say it's just so pretty that I think I'll enjoy the experience of the grind just due to that serene feeling of being on an empty alien planet looking for crap to burn with my laser. I've been a bit disappointed with the variation of the 8-10 planets I've visited but it's been impressive regardless.

At this point I think the poor guy is just an engineer that was stuck doing PR in order to maintain enthusiasm for the Pandora's box opened by initial reveal subsequently grand descriptions of an "entire universe in a game!". It doesn't excuse his laziness or possibly disingenuous answers but in his numerous responses he never outright discussed how MP would work or that it would be a meaningful component even if he wrongly insinuated it existed.

That guy in the video is not some no name guy on the development team. That is Sean Murray, the founder of Hello Games who made No Man's Sky.

What do you mean by "depth?" I don't think it's ever going to be a Minecraft or Terraria in terms of offering a huge variety of items that can allow for a near infinite possibilities for things to build for whatever way you want to play it, though maybe the base building stuff will offer that. No Man's Sky treat the items you can craft as more like traditional loot like Diablo or whatever where there can be a variety of mod blueprints for the exosuit/ship/multi-tool that can fit into various archetypes with some of the "duplicates" offer certain differences that could be better or just different. It seems like that game is aiming to offer its own take on the genre with a scope and style that nobody else really seems to offer.
