i've heard nothing but positive things from gaming sites that have previewed it for hours, unlike RE 6 where the writing was on the wall it wasn't going to be anything special

Dark Souls didn't have any season pass since it was just one piece of DLC. The base game was released in October of 2011 and the DLC came out a year later, October of 2012 for $15. 4 Months later it went on sale for $7.49 and then eventually price dropped to $9.99 and I think was on sale for $5 at some point last year.

Initially we didn't even get the season pass for Dark Souls 2, they had it for PC from the start but consoles didn't get the bundle (for $5 cheaper than buying them piecemeal) until all 3 pieces had been released. The DLC bundle by itself has never gone on sale, but the PS3 SotFS bundle which is the vanilla game + the 3 DLC has been on sale several times for less than the normal price of the DLC bundle ($25), the game + DLC bundle was as low as $12.

Bloodborne DLC 2 packs were combined into one during development to become the Old Hunters and that DLC came out in November of 2015 for $20. It didn't go on sale until nearly a year later, Nov 2016 (though it is a different publisher than the Dark Souls games).

Dark Souls 3 hasn't released both pieces of DLC so I wouldn't expect a deal on the season pass for quite a long time, if ever, since they have a game + season pass bundle which is more likely to be the one they eventually put on sale. That's why I picked it up to get me over the top during the last buy $100 get $15 back promotions on PSN.

So the basic gist is that due to all of the content coming to the game throughout the rest of the year, they're raising the base price for the whole package for all new purchasers and offering standalone versions of the expansion campaigns for those that might just want those campaigns. PS4, PS3, and Vita owners of the game are still going to get all of the updates, so nothing really changes if you already own the game. It seems like there probably won't be any sale opportunities until the price increase for those of you that have yet to buy it, but I'll make sure to point that out in the future if they do put it on sale before that happens.

 
Definitely buying Yakuza 0.  You guys do know that pre-orders come with a business card holder emblazoned with an oni and a dragon, right?  RIGHT?

This sale might be bad but you might need that extra money for Hatsune Miku:  Future Tone anyways.  Did you buy it?  Buy it.

 
I wish they would work on a proper sequel rather than giving every boss their own campaign..  I didn't care for Plague Knights campaign at all because of how he controlled plus only a couple trophies for having to do all those hard milestones in the game again.. no thanks!

its pretty good. just a shame it may not be 100% accurate to how the game actually is. since going by zestiria and the content of the demo itself it leads me to believe eleanor one of the playable characters in the demo is not actually playable during that section since she cannot change her weapon.

I thought the holiday sale was all right, and I've been following since 2009.  However, the last two weeks strike me as the worst ever.  I gave last week a pass considering it was in the wake of the holiday sales, but this week too?

Yeah, I'm thinking I will concentrate on RE7 first then alternate between Yakuza 0 and ToB since they will probably both be long Plats. RE7's trophy list isn't out yet though so hopefully there won't be anything too difficult or time consuming.

FYI: the Rock Band DLC that's on sale was originally released for RB3, and is compatible with Rock Band 3 and Rock Band Blitz on PS3 (but not with any previous Rock Band games).

 
Winter session and work will keep me from playing much for the remainder of the month. REally looking forward to RE7 but will have to wait a bit after launch before playing. 

Also, if Sony releases a Persona 5 PS4 Pro system, I'm absolutely in.

Thanks for posting this. I got a PS4 over the holidays and planned to wait for a sale on Shovel Knight but with this, went ahead at full price. Hoping it doesn't now immediately go on sale!
 
Has anyone else seen their digital receipts (the ones that say thank you for your purchase) dissapear? I'm trying to download Far Cry 3 blood dragon that was free on dec 2015 but its charging me full price. Went trough my email and noticed that Im missing a bunch of these digital "receipts". There is no way I forgot to grab the games when they were free, specially being a Far Cry fan.

I'm pretty sure Sony can't delete your e-mails. So it's more likely that you just didn't download it then.

Also, I believe that was free with PS+, so do you still have Plus now? If you don't, then you lose access to all the "free" games that you downloaded.

I kept putting it in my cart every week, and if I had weekly sales purchases to make, I'd take it out and wait for a lean week of sales, or hold off altogether if I ended up buying games every week. I ended up purchasing it during week 4 when it was mostly newer releases at around 30% off and I had nothing else to buy. Long story short, I don't know when the game itself went on sale, but I remember it being half off from week 1 of the holiday sale, so at least a month. It is odd that they would do such a lengthy sale as unadvertised as that, because you have to comb through all sales games to find the odds and ends that are on sale but not part of advertised sales weeks. It was very easy to miss how long Axiom Verge, Caladrius Blaze, N++ and more were on sale for if you don't go outside of the sales banner. It would have been better for them to have Axiom Verge on sale now, because people would have bought it out of desperation for lack of other options.

It was hard to miss them if you frequent Axiom Verge if you frequent this thread. I mentioned the deal first back on 12/6 11:46am in Post#5498 (page 110 for me) and how it was on sale through 1/4. Many others joined in wanting it and it was very well discussed.

I mainly skipped talking much about N++ because while I want it (I loved the DS version of N+) it is the only game remaining from the PSN PLAY lineup that hasn't been Free on PS+ from 2013 through 2015. So I'm fully expecting it to be free on PS+ this year along with the majority of the 2016 lineup. If anything the sale for N++ made it seem like they might be itching to sell some copies before throwing it to free. That's what a lot of these games end up doing right before they go PS+.

I think for anyone that missed any of the deals and they are upset about it, at minimum just check the OP at the same time every weekend. All the sales for the week that start Tuesday will be there as well as any flash sales and special sales.

I mainly skipped talking much about N++ because while I want it (I loved the DS version of N+) it is the only game remaining from the PSN PLAY lineup that hasn't been Free on PS+ from 2013 through 2015. So I'm fully expecting it to be free on PS+ this year along with the majority of the 2016 lineup. If anything the sale for N++ made it seem like they might be itching to sell some copies before throwing it to free. That's what a lot of these games end up doing right before they go PS+.

I think for anyone that missed any of the deals and they are upset about it, at minimum just check the OP at the same time every weekend. All the sales for the week that start Tuesday will be there as well as any flash sales and special sales.

No I meant it's easy to miss in the store. They tend to bury any games that aren't under a weekly sales banner. That's always been odd to me because you would think the publishers are putting it on sale for exposure, and it just gets stuck in some rolling list with 5000 themes and avatars that I'm sure some people don't even know to venture into. Obviously anyone in this thread should have known about the sale price. The only thing I can think of is getting your wires crossed since there's that other Axiom game that is always on sale, and was on sale at the same time as Axiom Verge.

Another weird thing....I REMEMBER getting Beyond Good and Evil HD when it was free on Nov 2015, but when I use the Pstore trough my phone it says "Download Demo" or "Add to Cart" for $9.99!!! Thats insane lol.

When I get home Ill open the PStore trough my Ps4 and hopefully that gives me the option do download it. Weird. Ill check the download list too.

The thread of full of Axiom Verge discussion that it almost swayed me to buy it, but I exerted self control and held off, waiting for a lower price or potentially PS+.

Don't know how you missed it.

I've had that happen to a few PS+ games (Metal Slug XX and A Space Shooter for 2 Bucks come to mind) but you should still be able to grab the full game via your download list.

Just so you know, I had a similar issue not long ago, but with games I knew I had bought and paid for. I had to contact Sony and they did something over the phone where they basically re-booted my account and then, voila!, the games showed that I owned them.

Just another one of the many reasons why I prefer physical over digital. But obviously, sometimes digital is the only option.

Yacht Club has laid out the future plans for Shovel Knight that changes up how you can access it based on all of the content they're adding to the game in the next year or so.

So the basic gist is that due to all of the content coming to the game throughout the rest of the year, they're raising the base price for the whole package for all new purchasers and offering standalone versions of the expansion campaigns for those that might just want those campaigns. PS4, PS3, and Vita owners of the game are still going to get all of the updates, so nothing really changes if you already own the game. It seems like there probably won't be any sale opportunities until the price increase for those of you that have yet to buy it, but I'll make sure to point that out in the future if they do put it on sale before that happens.

Ok, I', a little confused? So, if you already own the base game all of this stuff will be released as updates for free? Or is it paid DLC? What if you own a physical copy, say for PS4?

Edit: Never mind. I see I missed the part that current owners will get the updates for free, which is pretty damn awesome. I'm still not sure how physical copies would work with that though? I guess they're kind of left out.

Bonus Edit: I just checked and apparently I bought the game a while back during a PSN sale. Sweet!

Steamworld Heist is fantastic. Have it on mobile and tempted to double dip. Enjoyed it a lot more than Dig (although they have pretty much nothing in common other than name).

If they had made that a steelbook instead of a business card holder it would have been so much win. Could have been one of the best steelbook designs ever.

That's nuts! This game cries out for a digital version, can anyone realistically see swapping discs on the PS4 to play this more than a few times? Pricing also seems extraordinary for a puzzle game. I guess Sega's taking a page out of Nintendo's manufactured scarcity book and targeting this at collectors rather than players. Will be interesting to see how it works out for them, but I'm out (on a game I'd buy in a second if it were digital and reasonably priced at $5 or $10).
