If you enjoy the Tales series then you will enjoy R. R has one of the better stories in the series imo, however, you should know it is in Japanese with English subtitles. No english dub unless its been added since I played it.

I have. its got good gameplay and feels more like a tales of game than xillia1 did. Only major issues are its translation and being sub only. Oh and it has random encounters. Took about 60-70 hours to beat it. Basically if you have played other tales of titles you'll most likely enjoy this one.

Nope not dubbed nor will it ever be since they didn't do one to cheap out on the localization. Only reason it even was localized was due to the poll on twitter or whatever from sony. Its a shame they didn't do a ps3/4 port as it would of sold considerably better and justified a dub.

The first Disgaea is generally regarded as having the best overall 'story' / characters / etc. Though nostalgia goggles may be at work to some degree.

I think it's generally believed that all of them also improve on the mechanics in various ways. There's no real 'wrong' choice. I'd say play the first one, then skip to whatever the next one is you own, or just get the newest.

If you haven't played any of Namco's Tales Of series before, they're basically JRPGs with an Action-style battle system. At its core, you have the usual RPG fare, like leveling, random encounters that may or may not be represented by sprites (in this case, not), plot about humanity & friendship yadayada, etc., but the battles work more like a fighting game: you control a single character out of your entire party (the rest are AI) and move around the battlefield in real time, blocking or dodging attacks while trying to land your own. Each character has their own individual pool of special attacks, called "artes," that you collect as they level up or through certain sidequests. You can only equip up to four artes for use at once (at first), but each character's pool gets pretty big towards the end, so there's a lot of potential for customizing to your own play style depending on who you want to use. There are other mechanics added on to that, but those vary from game to game.

Hearts R is one of the better entries of recent years, despite the lack of English dub, and easily the best of the ones that are in the flash sale. For $7.50, it's at least worth a try.

Anyone have thoughts on Legasista?  The main thing I'm wondering is how cutscene-heavy it is; I like the idea of a NISA roguelike, but I remember that The Guided Fate Paradox drove me crazy with how every three minutes of gameplay were interrupted with ten minutes of dialogue.

edit: that or the Disgaea 5 season pass, hmm.. I was thinking about continuing Disgaea 5 soon, are the extra characters worth it?

Help! I pre-ordered South Park: The Fractured but Whole months ago. It had a countdown on my PS4, and I got Stick of Truth free on PS4.

Now, Stick of Truth is still on my PS4, but it has a big LOCK beside it. I see no evidence of Fractured but Whole anywhere, and it says "payment failed," which is total BS. I bought, and paid for it, months ago!

i only got to play for like an hour [one of my psnow test games during the psnow beta, but I enjoyed it. didn't play long enough to know about cutscene issues but I was left with the feeling i wanted to play more. sorry that's not much of an answer.

I certainly hope I don't have to call Sony. I don't think renewing my licenses will work. It says on the PSN that "payment failed", even though I paid for it months ago. I hope renewing my licenses works and that I don't have sit on hold and on the phone with them. I thought maybe other South Park: The Fractured but Whole pre-purchasers might be having this issue.

They typically send out emails when games up for pre-order on PSN are delayed to let you cancel or stay on that you probably need to reply to or else they refund your money.

here is your issue, when the game got delayed, psn sent out an email giving you the option to keep or cancel the preorder. if you didnt respond it defaulted to cancellation. the email was titled: action required, new release date for south park the fractured but whole. if you didnt respond by october 7th the preorder was cancelled and your money refunded (eventually)

EDIT: didnt see frisky's response, but he is spot on, just got my refund sometime tonight apparently

on the bright side, you can now re-preorder the game and it will qualify for the $15 back this month

Thanks guys for helping me figure it out. I never got that e-mail, and I can't find it anywhere. I certainly have not gotten a refund, either. I will keep searching, but it doesn't seem to be in my archived e-mail, my spam, or my trash.

Edit: It is nowhere to be found. How the heck do I even get to the "contact options" for Sony? It says something about calling or live chat, but I can find neither anywhere. I hate this new trend of outright avoiding being contacted by customers.

i can tell you that i cancelled on the 3rd(that is the day they sent me the email), and just got the money back today, so if it is a set number of days between cancellation and refund, you might not get it til the 18th

to contact them go to support, then you have to select an option (my account, refund) then you have to click on requesting a refund and it sends you to a FAQ and at the bottom of the FAQ is the link to chat. there might be an easier way but that worked for me.

Yup. I got an email from them saying that if I didn't respond with in 7 days if I wanted to keep my pre order or not, they would automatically cancel it and refund my money. I decided to just get the refund and pick up Rise of the Tomb Raider instead.
 
I asked this over in the flash sale thread but never got a response.  The lack of response might mean that I should stay away from the game but I figured I will give it one more try.

Has any one played Overlord: Fellowship of Evil?  I have read reviews any where from terrible to mediocre but fun.  I am really wanting a Diablo type game and for this price mediocre but fun is enough for me.  Most of the reviews I have been reading are for the PC (and old), I am hoping that things are a little better on the PS4 and things have been improved.

Has any one played Overlord: Fellowship of Evil? I have read reviews any where from terrible to mediocre but fun. I am really wanting a Diablo type game and for this price mediocre but fun is enough for me. Most of the reviews I have been reading are for the PC (and old), I am hoping that things are a little better on the PS4 and things have been improved.

Fat Princess Adventures is a solid Diablo-style RPG that is probably better.

 
So I just got an email from Sony congratulating me on 5 years of being on psn service. It was a 15% off code included in it. I had no idea they did this.

I would like to try out the new COD, but I didn't get a code. I am more interested in MW Remaster, but I don't want to buy both.

Thanks for the info. Fat Princess is also in my cart. When I started looking into this game the other day I realized that I also have gauntlet legends. I will just use those as fillers hoping another full fledged game comes out down the road.
 
Still hoping to see a BloodBorne sale.

With this weekend's flash sale, do you think they'll do their traditional Halloween one as well?

Odd question, with the Digital version, can you still play the hugely unbalanced and over the top original released, or does it automatically patch on download?

Or, does it just download the original release, then patch when you go to start it?

Man, that $100 price point is going to be hard to hit.. only interested in a few titles on the flash sale. Anyways, I also have 4 spare CoD beta codes, message me if you want one. (North America PSN codes)

Yeah I don't think I will hit it, only at about $30 now and with Vue I could get to close to $70, so hopefully some good deals the next 2 weeks.

I'm not sure if it's because I stick to Hardcore modes in Black Ops 3, or if this game just behaves that much differently, but players are annoyingly jumpy in this beta. I'm guessing in Hardcore mode they wouldn't be able to get away with these strategies. I'm not feeling it this far, but I just tell myself I'm really paying $60 for MW Remastered, and I'm paying $20 for whatever this turns out to be. It's easier to stomach that way.

Really hoping that Modern Warefare will eventually be available on its own. From what I'm hearing about infinite warfare, it's not looking to hot. But I is just a beta so I guess we'll see. I tried for about 15 min to get into a game on the beta, but got nowhere.
 
COD IW is actually decent, but seems more like a reskinned BO3.  But who am I kidding....idgaf.  I bought the Deluxe for Modern Warfare Remastered MP

Which is rough since I'm really considering getting a good bit between NISA and flash. Then again these sales have been really repeat heavy and not so hot for prices so I may get off easy.

If you haven't played any of Namco's Tales Of series before, they're basically JRPGs with an Action-style battle system. At its core, you have the usual RPG fare, like leveling, random encounters that may or may not be represented by sprites (in this case, not), plot about humanity & friendship yadayada, etc., but the battles work more like a fighting game: you control a single character out of your entire party (the rest are AI) and move around the battlefield in real time, blocking or dodging attacks while trying to land your own. Each character has their own individual pool of special attacks, called "artes," that you collect as they level up or through certain sidequests. You can only equip up to four artes for use at once (at first), but each character's pool gets pretty big towards the end, so there's a lot of potential for customizing to your own play style depending on who you want to use. There are other mechanics added on to that, but those vary from game to game.

Hearts R is one of the better entries of recent years, despite the lack of English dub, and easily the best of the ones that are in the flash sale. For $7.50, it's at least worth a try.

Some notes. you can always equip more than 4 artes except in zestiria because that games a fricken mess. There are 4 short cut slots as default in tales of hearts r and you get more slots via accessories and such. Short cut slots have been a common feature in the series to allow you to use either your own artes or let you order a party member to use their artes/spells.

Hearts r and legendia are the last two games to use random encounters in the past decade. Ever since symphonia its been on screen encounters.

Mages prior to abyss don't have artes they only have spells and only a few mages are viable as melee of the ones that do have melee options.

While hearts r doesn't include multiplayer options the majority of tales of games do.
