The Regular Physical edition of GK went down to $21 on Amazon recently and the CE went to like $48

I stupidly bought the CE and Regular edition and only played the intro. Loved it but just got sidetracked.

Just call Best Buy, I have done multiple preorders with them when they pricematched a price error by someone else.It is definetly Ymmv, They dont always do it, but you can keep calling back til u get someone who will.

This might not matter to you, but the GotY edition has a separate trophy list from the base game. Otherwise, I'm not 100% sure the DLC is worth $10.

The demo for Grand Kingdom is fantastic. I've heard a lot of positive word of mouth for it, too. You're the first person I've actually read that didn't like it. I'm not discounting your opinion, just mentioning I've seen a -lot- of love for it.

Then you missed my review, lol. I liked the single player part of the demo, but I don't think the game is fun. I thought it was strange to see so many people liking the game when other (in my opinion, better) NISA games get too much hate. To each their own!

Is the Dying Light Season Pass worth the price? I loved the game but have been waiting for The Following Enhanced Edition to drop in price.

I'm thinking of picking it up but only if I'm going to spend over $100 to get the $15 off.

Not Really. The Following is only thing really worth it. The Horde mode or whatever is really cool but only if you have people to play it with and seeing as how the game is fairly old at this point I doubt many are still playing it.

This might not matter to you, but the GotY edition has a separate trophy list from the base game. Otherwise, I'm not 100% sure the DLC is worth $10.

Also you cannot use your regular edition save with the GOTY edition. The game is fantastic and worth every penny @ 11.99 or whatever it is so I guess you just need to decide if you want to play through the entire game again since the GOTY edition will not allow you to use saves from a regular edition.

The demo for Grand Kingdom is fantastic. I've heard a lot of positive word of mouth for it, too. You're the first person I've actually read that didn't like it. I'm not discounting your opinion, just mentioning I've seen a -lot- of love for it.

For sure. And to each their own. I hope you dig it. I heard similar things which led me to check it out.

I snagged my copy (the one with the bonuses ... it was the launch edition I think) from Gamestop during some 50% bonus trade in promotion they did, but later traded it in at BB for like $27 during a similar promotion.

Between playing that and XCOM 2, XCOM 2 is a gajillion billion times better. Such a great game. I dig fantasy SRPGs more than future ones, but XCOM 2 is one of the best SRPGs I have ever played.

Natural Doctrine is extremely punishing if you don't understand the mechanics behind it or take the time to learn them. Based on your love of FE I think you might like it but it has a very steep initial learning curve.

I've always thought Natural Doctrine was way underrated.  I never got very far in it (not a fault of the game; I have trouble getting into most SRPGs), and it's been a while since I played it, but I remembering it being a completely serviceable SRPG.

On the topic of SRPGs, I'll be picking up Disgaea 5.  Any real reason to pick up the season pass, too?  I generally don't even use DLC (even if free) if it's sole purpose is to make the game easier, though this looks like extra maps and playable characters, though I'm not sure either of those sounds that awfully appealing.  Edit:  Guess I should read the page before the deals got posted.

Infinite is a visual novel. It's talking to people, moving between set rooms, and exploring the story line. You play it over and over to explore all the paths the story can take. I think it's a pretty good experience and you don't need to know anything about the series to enjoy it.

Natural Doctrine is my favorite srpg ever, and possibly Vita game. It's criminally underrated imo.

It's not so much 'hard', as it is 'different from anything else you've ever played'. Turns look like football plays because everything so much is taken into account, from elevation through flanking, etc.

It works differently than most games, and if you don't give yourself the time to understand it, it'll crush you. The main reason for this is the chain/link system.

Basically, if a unit ends with a move near another unit that can 'chain' that move, you can link them and the second unit can also move. Done right, this makes for killer strategy. Done wrong, you're dead, because the AI can and will maximize this.

Here's how it works.

WRONG WAY:

Unit A moves next to Unit B and C, attacks enemy, and then links Unit B and C to also attack enemy.

I've watched some reviews on Youtube, and this is how most people seem to approach it. They die hard and fast, because they're missing one vital rule -- if you link a unit that's already moved, it gets to move again, but if you link a unit that hasn't moved yet, it uses up their turn.

RIGHT WAY:

Unit A moves next to Unit B and C, attacks enemy. Ends turn.

Unit B then attacks enemy, links to Unit A above and has them attack enemy too. Ends turn.

Unity C then attacks enemy, links to Unit A and B. Unit A finally kills enemy, so Unit B uses their free second turn to set something else up.

Careful chaining in this example means A attacks 3 times, B attacks twice, and the last unit attacks once. You don't even need to do the same thing once linked, so technically, you could even have a unit do something else on it's 'free' turn. You often have more than 3 units, so planning your move to maximize attacks, while ensuring a strong defensive position is a work of art.

Careful planning and tactics is critical. If your forward unit goes to far ahead, 10 orcs might attack it. 10. They'll also properly chain/link, so that means a bazillion hits... you'll watch your unit get pummeled into the ground as some lowly orcs get a cumulative 100 hits in (10 + 9 + 8 + 7, etc, although by then they're dead).

Once all this clicks it just works. It's ridiculously good.

It's not even that complex once you get the hang of it -- it's just different from anything else, and ripe for misplay if you don't fully understand the systems.

The mp was also amazing, although I'm sure it's dead now. Each opponent got a set number of 'points' to build a team, from all units in the game [based on cards you unlock via play]. You could even field bosses on your team [though they'd take up most of your points, obviously].

If the praising review you read was from a CAG member, it was actually from affa, if you haven't guessed it yet from above. I played the game and enjoyed the first couple of chapters, and then it was all beyond me. I'm sure it's as good as he says it is, but I'm just not willing to take the time to learn the complex rules when there are tons of excellent strategy games that don't need training to play.

I definitely understand his frustration with underrated titles because mine would have to be Lost Dimension, a vastly underrated and very original title IMO. I want to someone to hit me in the head so I can experience it all over again.

Just call Best Buy, I have done multiple preorders with them when they pricematched a price error by someone else.It is definetly Ymmv, They dont always do it, but you can keep calling back til u get someone who will.

Turns out that Best Buy doesn't even have the item at all in their database. Guess it's best to wait and hope that the price doesn't change and try to price match Target when it comes out.

I don't remember anything about the story if that says anything lol. The graphics aren't that good and as you mentioned, the game isn't for casuals or people who get frustrated easily. With that said, I finished it and felt the game was quite enjoyable once you learned how the mechanics worked. But I would still suggest everyone to pass on it though if you're not a huge fan of strategy/tactical RPGs.

Remember when someone mentioned that in the Dragon Quest Builders demo there was no option to change which buttons do what, and we had a big argument over it, but in the end someone said in the full version of the game you'd be able to change key bindings?

Well, I don't see it anywhere in the final version either.  Life goes on, but life would totally be better if X was jump, square was attack, circle was menu, and triangle was to place stuff.

(Just in case anyone cares, you can change key bindings in the settings menu on the PS4 itself, but this will change it for everything, not just one game.)

PS  I was stupid and pre-ordered Skyrim, Dragon Quest Builders, and South Park.  I am going to miss out on getting the $15 back because I pre-purchased stuff.  I didn't think about it.  I just knew I wanted them right away and liked the pre-download feature.  Could have pre-purchased them a couple days ahead of release instead of weeks/months.

I don't play games for their 'story' but I'd say it was 'ok'. It was more mature themed than many and didn't feel saccharine sweet or anything like that. Some people take issue with a certain plot point where things go wrong for the characters, but you can fix this in ng+ because you unlock a new choice.

a popular character basically dies. you can only prevent this in ng+. for some reason some took this personally. didn't bother me, i prefer stories with more mature themes.

don't buy it for the story, though. buy it if you love combat mechanics and want to try something new.

I've been waiting over 15-20minutes and not found more than 2 other people for multiplayer, and no one for campaign...

Which is made even more sad since they're releasing the season pass content this week...

Agreed. The campaign was pretty lackluster after running through it once but the competitive side is absolutely stellar.

The humor was great, but hearing the same lines for the 50th time (even with the few variables) while farming for loot drops definitely wore thin. The balance and teamwork on the PvP side were where it shined for me.

lost dimension isn't underrated or at the very least I've seen nothing but praise for it in comparison to natural doctrine which was panned from the get go ignoring that its tagline was prepare to die or something like that over and over and over and over again.

eh your not missing out the games a mess. balance is crap, objects can block shots for no rhyme or reason and other times the enemy can shoot right through them and thats on top of shitty hit detection, mega death tank chapter, story writing seems like it was written by a 4 year old after reading about world war 2. My favorite thing was when I threw a grenade and it bounced under or through the enemy tank. or the lancers bazooka missing the giant rock slabs and most objects in general. Or all the times where I was point blank to an enemies face with a machine gun and they can miss/dodge it.

I'll give it points for the unique combat engine but man the game needed some quality control and tlc.

Yep, it is.. 2K Denies it, but I can see the denial as part of a way to get as much as they can before it goes F2P
Also, Evolve went F2P. but only on PC.. not console yet.

Perhaps not underrated, but probably under most people's radars, I think (at least in the West). Particularly for those that have a PS3, but not a Vita, like me. This looks totally like my type of game, and somehow I have either never heard of it or had forgotten all about it before it came out.
