I actually returned my physical copy of shovel knight back to Walmart that I got for $7. I went ahead and bought the digital version instead since you get free DLCs.

You should have kept it, the cover artwork is great and it comes with a nice manual as well. A really nice physical release.

heard you have to beat the story 3 times before they give you the option to purchase the trophies with in-game currency... even then it'll be a grind for currency.

the only benefit from that is saving your currency and paying for the difficult one, like beating a boss without taking a single damage.

That's where I already have it and are mainly considering buying it because I have a problem. My kid also enjoys playing it when we go somewhere with a Vita display and it's digital on my 3DS so I can't just be like here you can play my copy on your 3DS.

I realize now that I may want to buy it on ps4, so I have it on vita. Then, when my child wants to play it on 3ds (down the road, he's only 4) I can still play it.

I will never understand this either. It's a bunch of grown men chasing a ball around for hours. I'm sorry, I haven't chased a ball around since I was preschool; I can't imagine anything more boring.

Although, I will agree that I don't understand the point of watching others play games either. Games are supposed to be an interactive, personal experience. You lose both those things watching someone else play. For me, though, I find the people who record themselves playing games mostly annoying. You've got the person who's never played the game before wandering aimlessly for a half hour because they don't know what to do next; the very unfunny running commentary full of goofy sounds and over exaggerated emotions; the guys who play horror games and freak out, and shriek like sissies when they see a breeze move a curtain in a game; the girls who'll sit there emotionlessly and as stiff as board, at an 45 degree angle just to accentuate their breasts...

I watch a lot of youtubers and twitch streamers play Hearthstone. I watch because it is a competitive game that I play and I want to get better at it. The best way to get better at something is to learn it, and watching the best play it, helps you learn. I also watch the NBA and NFL but I don't play those games in real life. So if anything, it makes more sense for me to watch something I play, than something I don't play.

plus most games have countless written and video reviews, if a game like Horizon has tons of 9's doesn't that give a good indication it's pretty good?

It's true that sometimes watching and playing are 2 totally different experiences, but at least for me, watching someone play a game kinda gives me an idea if it's something I wanna buy and try for myself. Especially if the person playing has a similar play style to me.

how do you know how a game feels while watching it? assassin's creed looks like a good game to me, but i hate the controls therefore i don't have fun playing it
