Without Ueda working on it, I wouldn't want any new Colossi or anything like that added to the game. The game is near perfect as is and doesn't need unnecessary padding to it. They're just remaking the assets to make it look and run amazingly well and it shows.

Crash Bandicoot Trilogy is pretty much rebuilt from the ground up since they didn't have the original source code, just level data. They had to do a lot of work trying to replicate the controls, mechanics, and all that to make everything work as close to the originals as possible. Being a PS1 game, they also did some work modernizing certain aspects of the game and making it a friendlier game to play 20 years later.

 
So far I'm considering batman vr, firewatch, and rez for the sale. That still leaves me 60 short on the promo offer, but unless we see a flash deal this weekend which I don't have high hopes for, I dunno what else to get. I guess maybe we will see some good weekly sales Tuesday that I could sneak in. I've also considered grabbing HZD but I'm not in a rush for new content and figured it might hit 20$ by black friday
 
Should be a $7 for $10 PSN from PCgamesupply this week based on their track record. Well, that's what I'm hoping.

Same. I was hoping for at least some cut content added in, just like I'm hoping for cut levels (c'mon Stormy Ascent!) to be added to the Crash trilogy. Coco is still a pretty big addition at the very least.

There's way too much cut content from the original game (with a substantial amount of it already done but axed due to PS2 space limitations) for this to just be a matter of "We don't trust anyone besides Ueda to add content to the game". Make the additional content optional/post-game then. It just seems very lazy otherwise.

I bought it at launch and have loved it and played it quite a bit. It's matchmaking has been much improved. There are some glitches and bugs still in game but they are working to fix them with future patches. Still really fun. It is one of the most fun games I've played online in quite a while. Better if you play with a mic or with friends for even more fun. There is a single player coming in the summer and they have future content plans for the game. All future maps added to game they said will be free. It only has 3 maps right now though. But I love the game. It is much better as a game than dead by daylight and would easily recommend it over that game by a mile.

As for playing as Jason, you will be playing as a counselor much more often as Jason. I actually have more fun playing as a counselor trying to survive with others than playing as Jason but that is preference. I think it is really good overall.

You have to be a fan of playing online and chatting in matches to survive to get the most out of the game though so if that is not for you, then don't buy it.You could always wait for a sale or wait a little longer for it to be patched a little more. Personally, I thought it was well worth the 40.
 
Pre-orders work towards the "spend $100 get $15" promotion, right? My understanding is, as long as the total purchases before 6/20 amount to 100+, it doesnt matter what I spend it on. Am I right in my assumption? Just making sure I get it right, since its been a long time I participated in this promotion.

Except from what Ueda has said,they were cut due to repetition of mechanics or not being good enough for the final game. Though some of them were combined with another into a better Colossus, so not all of the cut Colossi were gone.

Were there always 16 Colossi?
Ueda: Actually, at first there were 48. That was the number I had in the back of my head when I was planning the game. Putting in that many would have been impossible, however, so I cut it down to 24, half the original number. That’s when I began actually modeling them and coming up with ways to defeat them. We might’ve been able to get 24 done within the development period, but it would have been difficult to implement them while maintaining their quality, so we settled on the present 16.

What basis was used to decide which ones to keep and which to reject?

Ueda: When deciding which Colossi to keep and which to reject, we evaluated their level of completion at the time and ensure that the way they were defeated didn’t overlap with the method for another Colossus. We tried to have it so that you could beat the Colossi that appeared in the beginning without using the terrain. Eventually, you make use of the surrounding environment and the Colossi themselves become trickier. Working within these bounds, we removed the Colossi that had were defeated by similar means.

Kaido: We would condense the individual elements of two Colossi down into one. That way we weren’t just throwing them away, but rather combining them together to make trying to figure out how to defeat them even more interesting.

Ueda: During development, we also came up with the idea of having optional Colossi you wouldn’t need to defeat. That meant they wouldn’t be connected to anything, story or otherwise. While it would have been interesting, I gave serious consideration as to whether the game actually needed something like that. The epic battles between Wander and the Colossi are fun, but having optional Colossi just didn’t suit the game.

What sort of Colossi were there, in particular?

Ueda: At first public debut of Shadow of the Colossus, several Colossi were displayed in material distributed to the press. The bird-type Colossus and spider-type Colossus were nearly completed. Spider was meant to be defeated by slashing it with your sword while riding Agro, but that would have required us to put in a special motion just to battle that Colossus, so I didn’t think it was very elegant. However, the idea for defeating that one was resurrected in Turtle (the 9th Colossus). I have the tendency to ask myself whether or not something makes sense and whether or not it’s elegant in terms of game design. Like pruning tree branches, It’s necessary to cut things out in order to improve the quality of a game.

Kaido: I think that the number and the mere existence of Colossi shape the game’s design. That means that when the number of Colossi increases, material gets reused, and it’s better to leave players a little unsatisfied than to thin out the game.

I could maybe see a separate mode of the half-finished Colossi to fight or whatever, but I wouldn't want it near the actual game because that's just ruining a great, well-designed game. When I say I'd want Ueda involved, it's because I'd want him having a hand in whatever's added, which the interview suggests he thinks it's perfect as is. A museum mode of concept art and such would be cool, which the PS3 collection had some of that in there.

 
No ability to pre order the games i want really kills the spend $100 for me.

I want to order yakuza 6, kiwami, ishin, gundam versus, ace combat 7, etc and none are in the store wtf?!

At least in Feb s $100 promo i was able to snag tekken 7 deluxe edition.

It's a very fun online only game.
it gets a bit buggy sometimes but improving.
you have to use stealth & find items to survive against Jason.
there are multiple objectives to achieve to escape the camp grounds, so teamwork is encouraged.
hardcore fans will be happy, regular fans should pick it up on the first sale.
but it's worth playing, like a violent game of manhunt.
 
I came in to ask about Friday the 13th. Looked at the comments here, The reviews online & the official forums. Ill pass for now. Apparently there will be a physical version later & the game should be fixed by then & have the single player content.

Yes I have played it, and yes it is fun at times, to me it gets incredibly boring unless playing as Jason, which is roughly only like a 15 percent chance per match(you can play for 5-6 hours and never get to play as him since its totally random who you get to play as even if your in a group with others), I guess its your preference thought because I do know some people who really like playing as the victims. I will admit that the first week or so the game was out when I couldnt even play it because I was locked out and with the matchmaking mess and stuff that it turned me off the game a bit. I love horror games and the Friday the 13th series in general but even with that said, with the amount of issues that are still in the game at this point and so few maps as well its basically impossible for me to recommend it at 39.99.

I backed the game on Kickstarter and have been playing it off and on since it came out, so I have a little input.

Is the game worth $39.99? Yes and no. If you have friends to play with and can look past the bugs and what not, yes. If you are looking for a solo experience, then it would be best to wait for the single player campaign to be released later this Summer. The game is fun for what it is. Think Dead By Daylight with the Friday the 13th license. But as a solo player, the game is not as fun. Communication is key in order to win, and 90% of the people I played with don't say shit. I have had a lot of fun with it when people work together.

Think Dead By Daylight with the Friday the 13th license. But as a solo player, the game is not as fun. Communication is key in order to win, and 90% of the people I played with don't say shit. I have had a lot of fun with it when people work together.

Games are nowhere near the same. Can't compare the two.

Thing is I think F13 is a much better experience than dead by daylight. Can't fight back, mainly just repair generators, fight with hooks, and run. But I guess it has its big player base the same as Friday 13th will. But I am a huge movie fan and love the extra options you have in matches. With free single player and free maps in the future. It'll be a much better value at 40 then.
 
Considering buying Horizon and it's dlc myself. I've already gotten South Park (won a copy), life is strange before the storm, and destiny 2, trying to see of there is anything else I want atm.

I will admit that the first week or so the game was out when I couldnt even play it because I was locked out and with the matchmaking mess and stuff that it turned me off the game a bit. I love horror games and the Friday the 13th series in general but even with that said, with the amount of issues that are still in the game at this point and so few maps as well its basically impossible for me to recommend it at 39.99.

There's a setting to change your spawn preference between Jason, the campers, or both. Not sure exactly how much it affects your chances (have only played with it set to campers or both), but you might have a better chance of getting tossed into matches as Jason with that toggle switched.

 
Correct me if I'm mistaken but didn't Sony say we would be getting a different deal each day on the PlayStation Store? Some kind of big discount too? I could have sworn I read something like that on here actually...

A significant chunk of my experiences have involved getting tossed in with players that just spend their time making fun of other players, acting like morons, making random noise, etc. Pretty much like the COD experience. My MO is usually to just not bother plugging in my own mic and just mute the other players (or sometimes go on a private party channel if I'm playing with friends). Then again, I think the last match I played, we got booted, I'm guessing because Jason rage quit after I repaired the phone and called the police. I guess like anything else, the quality of the players you get matched with definitely impacts the enjoyment of the game one way or the other.

No. The article is titled "9 days of deals," but they're just saying the sale lasts 9 days.

Ya was confused at first if it was like a spiritual sequel or a reboot or completely unrelated.

It's unrelated it seems... The Xbox one in 2005 was based on The Shadow over Innsmouth story whereas this new game seems to be based on the actual Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game...

Wish there were more survival horror games tho lol.
