Should I get Nex Machina or Return to Arkham? Beat the Arkham games last gen and loved them.

I preordered Nex Machina, love all the games by Housemarque and the 20% discount was a nice incentive. Alienation is one of my favorite games so preordering it was a no-brainer.

Housemarque games are fantastic, if you like old school type games with very flashy visuals. Nex Machina is a Robotron/Smash TV/Total Carnage type game made with the help of the guy that made those games - Eugene Jarvis. So the question is, do you like twin stick shooters?

Return to Arkham is great as well, particularly after they patched it to clean up the framerate which made a world of difference. The graphics are improved, but the games looked great anyways. You pretty much know what you are getting here, just a bit better looking (not as good as Arkham Knight though).

Given the choice in your situation, I'd go with the game I hadn't played if I had to pick.

Nex Machina is a top-down dual-stick shooter, so you're mainly trying to take out every enemy in an area along with finding secrets while saving all of the humans before moving on to the next area. If you die, you restart that specific area, but they only take a minute or two each to beat. Housemarque partnered with Eugene Jarvis (Robotron, Defender, and more), so it very much feels like a great Housemarque shooter with the trappings of Robotron.

I made a video from the beta that shows the first world and some of the challenge stuff if you want to see it in action. It was a lot of fun to play in the same ways that made Resogun such a great game.

EDIT: Also, now that I see it, I actually like this theme a lot. I like the color cycling, and whereas icons tend to blend into the colors of a lot of themes, they stay pretty distinct in this one, which I like. Pretty happy with this and Symbols in the Sky.

I found it a highly engaging experience if not much of a game. It all depends on your level of interest in the dialogue mechanics. To me, it was gaming's single most authentic representation of interpersonal communication. But if you're looking for a game in the traditional sense, this doesn't even have the barest of point-and-click adventure mechanics.

I've dropped far more than that into Robotron 2084 over the years, and if we include Smash TV into the mix it gets ridiculous. Convert for inflation and we're realllly talking $$$.

If we still did arcades and Nex Machina was new coinop I'd probably drop that much within a week with nothing to show for it but my inits on the leaderboard.

So... owning this upfront for $15 or so is a no brainer.

We are blessed to see Jarvis and Housemarque unite. I hope it's a massive success and there is more to come.

I bought the ultimate edition. It includes everything. Maps, game modes, the deluxe edition content. I like it the game, and will probably result in me buying battlefront 2 when it goes on sale later on after its launch

It says Unavailable on the PSN+ free games page so I can't add it to my cart to purchase it. When I search for Neon Chrome, it only shows the demo/trial version available. The full version does not show up in my search. Whenever I download it, it's always the trial version.

$10 for the Arkham Knight DLC worth it?

From what I've heard, the Story modes are really short - I think the longest was one hour. The challenge maps are the equivalent of chopping off one section of the game, playing it, and getting a grade on it. Not my cup of tea, but those who obsess over perfection and have golds on every GTAV mission will love it. As for the skins, they're just about all of Batman and the Batmobile. The best ones, in my opinion, are available for free, and chances are, you'll find a favorite and stick with it, rendering the rest useless. Unless that favorite is a Riddler-themed Batmobile, you can probably skip them.

They haven't bundled them with the core game in a Game of the Year or Ultimate Edition yet, but when they do, if you wait for a sale, you'll likely be able to get both Arkham Knight and the DLC together for the same price either costs by itself right now.

In the same boat. I figure I'll try and master Resogun in the meantime until the next sale.

Matterfall is still on sale for preorder though. Have a bit of time to decide on that one.

Really wish they would put Spider-Man up for preorder now. I think I would easily preorder that and God of War anyway but getting a $15 credit would be nice.

There should be another promotion like this before those two games are out next year.
