Thats enough to say, I will mute myself in this thread, most all comments I make are torn apart. Your right to call out my contradiction, it was wrong. Thanks for the thread Frisky and everyone, I visit it most every day. Cheers for the deals mates.

:newbie:
I'm not sure what to say.

Recently got a PS4. Are the games really installing this fast? It almost does not seem possible.  Is there some installation going on after it says ready?  I am trying to install several disks and I just want to be sure they are complete.

Side note: I wish I would have turned on my PS3 more often because I missed out a free $10 on PSN back in OCT.

it installs enough to play really quickly. the full install takes longer, but not forever long. if you're only waiting for the first, quick install (like 10 seconds) you're not installing the first game, just enough to start playing. It is magic fast, though.

FYI, noticed the following cross-buy on the "all deals" page yesterday ...

:ps4: :vita: "The Bit Trip" ... $9.99 ... THE BIT.TRIP is the ultimate way to play all six games in the award-winning BIT.TRIP series, including BIT.TRIP RUNNER, the first auto-running rhythm platformer on Earth! Purchasing this content entitles you to both the PS4™ system and “PS Vita” system versions!
Even without "Runner2" (which many folks got as a PS+ freebie), it still works out to a great price/package, if you compare it to the $9.99 that Gaigin Games thinks each individual title is worth.

How is grim fandango remastered? Uses bars on the sides of the screen and looks just how I played it to completion on PC. Hardware Rivals was empty and basic, felt like a ps2 game. Man I didn't expect to shit on the plus games already this month but this was bad.

it is pretty much the exact same game you played years ago. the new visuals are cool and help bridge the gap between game models and the pre-rendered background, plus the option of playing without tank controls is greatly appreciated. i've heard some people have had BIG glitchy problems with the game, but i never encountered any with my time with it

Ps+ getting worst & terrible. No free ps4 or vita game instead all indie games & most of us already own. After 2016 my ps+ will die in peace. Not worth $35 per year.

I don't see what the deal is there. That's MSRP for that game.

I guess value is subjective as I prefer free downloadable titles to 3 year old retail games.. I can rent or buy retail games for cheap, whereas downloadables you are at the mercy of the online store and random sales. That said, retail titles are likely going to be more frequent as the generation moves along, there just isn't the backlog of games available to warrant giving them away monthly just yet.

I agree, I haven't ever tried PS NOW because Sony hasn't given me any reason to. There are no incentives except a very decent catoulog and for those who sold their PS3 for a PS4 (shame on you). I know there is a 7 day trial, but honestly life is so chaotic right now I couldn't accurately judge it in 7 days. If Sony would discount (not free at all) PS NOW for plus subscribers or a free weekend trial I might see the value. However this is CAG and we tend to like ownership of our games and at a good price, lol.

I just got the game in today!! Snagged it for about $6 on Amazon in like new condition. Can't wait to play it. Now if I could find a reasonably priced copy of folklore and 3D dot game hero my PS3 library is complete. Well I may get yakuza 5.... Somebody help me I have a sickness, lol.
When did Folklore become expensive? I remember when they couldn't give away copies of that game.

This is why I think we are not seeing that many AAA PS4 titles being free on PS4. As their library grows you will start seeing more AAA titles.

And then even if you stop caring about PS Plus, you'll have to keep paying for it if you want access to all the games you got with it. One of the reasons I don't care for the service.

I never tried PS Now because my kids activated the trial and used it. So I didn't get to see how good/bad it was at all. Kind of like you activating it and then being too busy that week to actually take any meaningful advantage of it. Having another go at trying it out would be cool... especially as the service gets a larger library and is refined to work better.

That's right, give me my free day!
I'm more hopeful for a coupon like last year. I just hope I remember to go back in and turn back off AutoRenew on PS+ since when they do extend us a day it will turn that "feature" back on.

Of course, you'll be seeing more triple A titles. But they will still be a few years old. Sony has no incentives to give out AAA titles on Plus anymore since the Playstation 4 has won the next-gen console war. The PS4 is so dominating right now new owners are snatching up games with a tiny bit of a percentage discount, selling them out everywhere.

Agreed that is another factor as well. Last gen was more even between the two main consoles. This gen is different.

Does gamestop sell a $5 PSN card online? I can't find one, but was wondering if there's a $5 DLC I can buy that just adds funds or something.

It's got to be Gamestop because I'm trying to get my order over $25 for the SAVER promo code.

As for getting AAA PS4 games, has anyone that expects these on PS+ actually looked at the physical PS4 library?  I mean, it's not much bigger than the Vita's physical game library.  Seriously.  No really, look at the numbers, I'm not joking.   The PS4 currently has about 176 physical retail games (not sure how many are just vouchers)... Vita has 146 retail games (2 are vouchers).   PS3?  Over 1000 physical retail games.    So yeah, it was a lot easier to get some decent PS3 games in PS+... especially as much of that was later in the PS3's life and those games weren't selling as much or had already easily made a profit.  The library just isn't there to be giving away the AAA games for PS4 yet.

As noted too, PS3 vs XB360 was pretty heated for getting better titles to make one service stand out over the other.  That competition helped us get some of those retail games.

It's much easier for me to just wait for a good $20 or less sale price on physical games I actually want (or sub $10 for digital).  So I buy what I mainly want to play and I get free all the randomness that just may not be worth my time or money though I'm willing to check out because there are sometimes some pretty excellent games.  If I wait for PS+ to give me the few games I actually wanted for the PS4, Vita or heck even the PS3, I would have missed a large majority of the great games those platforms have to offer.

Yeah, bummer. Does anyone know if I buy, say, this DLC for $5, am I going to actually get the DLC or is it like Xbox where I just get $4.99 in funds added to my account?

Gamestop still ships PSN cards? I thought everyone went to delivering them via email.
Probably just email. I was hoping that having the total over $25 would still trigger the free shipping, regardless of delivery method.

Rocket League is the best $20 that I've never spent. If there's a chance at one game of that quality for the whole year... Its totally worth the remaining $15-20 to play online.

But don't forget the large quantity of decent to good quality games you can try for free either.

That's just assuming you only have a PS4. Vita and PS3 owners really make out here if you have all 3.

PS+ is hit and miss usually. This month only Grim Fandango is alright and I own that one on PC. Will likely play it on Vita though. There has been great games in the past such as Rocket League, Freedom Wars...etc... You can pretend it's like a humble bundle since usually about 4 of the games are indie games and sometimes are great quality. I enjoy the free games, and sometimes they're amazing. I played Binding of Isaac Rebirth on PS4/Vita cause it was free and only bought the PC version since every other version is slow on getting expansions.

I think I'm stuck then as my total is $22.67 and can't find a good filler for $3-$5. Maybe I'll just bite the bullet on a $10 card. I'm hoping Super Empire Strikes Back or RotJ gets detailed soon. I only need $5 for Force Awakens pinball.

So is the Idea Factory sale not happening at all? I was contemplating finally picking up Monster Monpiece if the price is right.

Pick an item as filler, return to store.

I'd assume that you could use an alternate account to get another trial if you want to try it out. Obviously, it's not going to unlock trophies for you nor will your saves carry over, but that's about it.

The thing I still don't get is, you lower the console price to $299, big holiday sales. Why not front load good plus content to gain buy-in? Both consoles should do positive post holiday brand management to create lifelong customers. Not the junk that's been given.

So is the Idea Factory sale not happening at all? I was contemplating finally picking up Monster Monpiece if the price is right.
The sale was delayed due to technical issues, as posted earlier:

Eh, it's just a matter of perspective. My $30-40 a year sub now gives me:

a) at least 72 games, with some gems like Rocket League that easily save me over $40 a year

b) superior discounts during sales, which saves me over $40 a year

c) access to all the games i never 'bought' over the course of a multi-year ps+ library

d) online play, which i use all the time on ps4

I mean, it's a profitable investment for me based on just A or B alone, let alone together. Add in the other stuff and it's an amazing, wonderful service.

Nothing is for everyone, of course, but just because it's not for you don't assume it's not a great package for many others.

I don't follow ps news much as I don't currently have a ps4, but has there been any talk of a hardware refresh? I'm wanting to pick up a system soon but would like a 1tb model, and think the cod one they made is ugly as sin.

Post-Uncharted Collection or thereabouts all the new PS4s had a refresh. Face buttons on the console were changed to mechanical buttons (old design led to disc ejecting issues), the HDD cover should be matte instead of glossy, and there were some internal changes that supposedly make the system less prone to overheating issues.

If you want a bigger HD you'll have to swap it out yourself, but at least you'll be able to make the jump to 2 TB that way.

If anyone is looking for a PS4 2TB upgrade drive, this external USB drive is on sale for $70.  You do have to pop open the case to remove the drive, which will void the warranty on the drive.  It contains this internal drive which costs about $30 more if purchased as an internal.  So you can decide whether the warranty is worth the $30 or not.
