Sorry for quality.. I took the image with my tablet.
You might not know but Edison invented the light bub a little way back. I hear it helps.

I imagine the game doesn't actually work? At least it was only a rental and not a purchase.

I may have to grab the Taken King add-on for $29.59 before 10% discount. Tempted by The Order as well

Edit: just realized I'm in the wrong PSN thread

Alright... Before I start making my purchases...

1.) I can create a cart through the store on my PS4?
2.) I have two different 20% discount codes from PS4 bundles... Can I use one now and then the other the next time there is a sale?
3.) Can I stack the 20% percent off with the 10% off coupon?

The lights were on, I literally got out of bed, took the picture with my tablet, and hopped back in bed.

Here are the pictures I took with my actual camera, my tablet doesn't have an SD card reader.

Those are the 20% off coupons that come with a new PS4 (at least my Uncharted bundle had one). You can only ever use 1 on your PSN account, so don't get one if you've used them before. You must use them from your PS4 console, not the web store. Otherwise, they are legit, you save 20% off your whole PSN purchase. I just used mine today to save $21.
Is this true? I have the one that came with my PS4 and it expires at the end of the year. I was about to use it to knock a whopping $4 off the Bloodborne DLC because I hardly buy things at full price.

I actually fully agree with your sentiments on Afro Samurai 2. They should have given a choice if we people wanted to keep the game or not, but I respect the fact they were open and forward with the public about what they were doing and why.
I mentioned this before, but choices cost money.

For a refund, Sony simply needs to query their database, find all purchasers, and then deal with refunding them and removing the item from existence. It's work, but it's minimal.

If they offered a choice, they'd need to create webpages dedicated to it. They'd need to advertise the issue, they'd need to support these pages for some number of weeks or months, and then, since not everyone would use it, they couldn't simply delist the item but would need to potentially alter their database so they could track a new relationship between buyer and product ('refunded'). It's a LOT more work, all for some broken game that relatively few people bought.

And honestly? It's better for us that they don't have this infrastructure in place. As it is, it's clearly an extremely rare [one of kind, hopefully] worst case scenario for a truly broken game.

The problem is that while most people think of the free and cheap games on mobile, I play a good amount of more "hardcore" games (RPGs, rogue likes, PC ports, shmups, etc.) on mobile that are not always cheap. And there have been some scares lately with content removed from the App Store and no longer available for download. Most of those situations were resolved after public outcry, but there's not much to prevent it from occurring in the future. And someday it certainly could affect console gaming as well.
I not only won't buy games on Itunes anymore, we sold our ipad due to various issues, culminating in our relatively recent purchase being 'left behind' after a OS upgrade that meant app after app stopped working on our device.

That said, I'm not at all worried about how Sony is dealing with their digital library. Unlike our experience with IOS, Sony has been quite consistent, reliable, and consumer friendly in their policies. Given that there seems to be inherently far more 'value' in the backcatalog of Sony games (ps1, ps2 games are still treasured) verses IOS games, I don't think they're easily compared.

I read somewhere that said the only ps2 games that would work are the ones from the store which sucks
Nobody really knows, conjecture all around.

Or Sony could, you know, just refund everyone and let them keep the game.

Everyone's getting their money back anyways. What's the harm in letting them keep the scrapped game?

PS Plus games for December

PS4: Gauntlet Slayer Edition, King's Quest Chapter 1: A Knight to Remember

PS3: SSX, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon

Vita: Rocketbirds Hardboilded, Freedom Wars

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2015/11/25/new-on-playstation-plus-in-december-gauntlet-kings-quest-more/?emcid=social_20151125_55664976&adbid=669553508413104128&adbpl=tw&adbpr=36969785
Gauntlet's a solid choice, but KQ Chapter 1 is a real dick move, there's a reason Xbox never went the Raven bullshit route again. SSX is meh, not to mention GWG beat them to that one over a year ago. Blood Dragon is a good choice but I imagine 90% of us own it on one of the three platforms (I have it on 360 and PC already) because it's been out for years, and pretty cheap to boot.

Don't really care for Rocketbirds and it's been dirt cheap on Steam, Freedom Wars is cool though. Was going to buy it on BF for $5 but I guess this saves me the trouble.

Real lackluster month overall, in my opinion, only salvaged by Gauntlet and Freedom Wars. Lack of crossbuy really hurts here. Here's hoping January has at least two good games for Vita again instead of just one like November and December.

Two possibilities:

1) It's an gray area for IP -- it's not Sony's IP, so once it's all refunded, it's was likely the publishers decision. Sony probably could have said 'if you want us to do the refund, fine, but buyers should get to keep the game!'... but really, my guess is everyone just wanted the issue behind them and a straight refund was the easy answer.

2) Completely scrubbing it from their systems is likely far easier than creating a new 'state' in their accounting system for games that 'don't exist' but are 'owned'.

It's most likely #1. #2 already exists for delisted games.

Or #3, Sony doesn't want to host download traffic for a game they made no money on.

So I only have $10 in my PSN account. I don't play my PS3 often so I'm only interested in exclusives. I was hoping for a $5 sale on The Last of Us DLC Left Behind. I don't really want to pay the full $10 for it as I've heard it's pretty short. Are there any other exclusives I should be looking at for this price? Is Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One good? I'd be playing it single player

All 4 One is fun, but no where near the quality of the other games.

I did quite love the humor however, and a few weapons are way OP.

Is there a respectable place to get a decent price for a digital copy of The Last of Us? I want to get it as a gift for an internet friend.

I'd go with #1 too. The download traffic on 1200 purchases of some digital game is absolutely negligible given the infrastructure they already have in place for the rest of PSN. I agree they could do #2, sort of, if they just did a standard 'delist' but it's pretty clear the company really wanted the game scrubbed from existence, which is why they went to those lengths to refund everyone. I mean, if they just wanted to delist it, they wouldn't have needed to refund anyone. Clearly they were more serious than that. Which is actually a good thing, really -- it shows true penance -- even if it means people that bought it lost it.

Remember, this is happening on all platforms and not just PSN so it's clearly the publisher's wishes.  There could also be some caveat in the licensing contract for the IP that required it.

In other news my PS4 doesn't seem to be turning itself on to upload trophies and junk overnight any longer.  Not sure why.

What game? Maybe I have it. Oh, n/m it's Afro Samurai 2. I don't have it.

The first google result is fine. It's not like they fell off the back of the truck. For these sorts of "console insert" codes they make truckloads of them, far more than will ever get stuck in consoles. The extras find their way to the market. They send out 200 something codes to be loaded into 100 consoles and don't care a whit about the remaining 100. Nobody got robbed for these.

Doesn't it have to be in rest mode? I just got my PS4 so I'm not certain. Cause I've left mine off and it doesn't update anything, but when it's in rest mode it keeps its internet connection active for uploads and downloads.

There's a thread here from earlier today that had a link to NewEgg. It was my first time shopping with them and I got the code for $20. My only issue is that it took hours to verify payment and stuff, so I didn't get the code immediately. It took a few hours, but I'm downloading it now because the code finally came in my email.

Always is. I've just been noticing lately now that I'm playing it more that it hasn't been doing it on its own.

I'm on the fence for several games and could use advice.

For reference, I have around $120 in spacebux but like to hoard it... and have an insane backlog on all ps consoles/handhelds so technically don't need anything.

Games i'm on the fence about:

Witcher 3 --- everybody says it's a goty contender, but i'm not quite sold on it.  $22.50 isn't bad for it, though.  But I have Lords of the Fallen, Diablo 3, Dark Souls 2, etc to scratch that rpg itch...

Nova 111 --- interesting mix of turnbased tactical + action shmup... but nobody ever talks about it. 7.50 is $2.50 more than i want for taking a chance on it, but it's possible i could love it.

Hotline Miami 2 --- loved the first.  bought it at full price i think, though, so would prefer this at $5 since some seem tepid on it.

Defense Grid 2 -- own on steam... anyone know how it plays on consoles?  would prefer trophies but not if it's far superior with a mouse.

PSP/PS1 === metal slug x, adventures to go, end of serenity, mystic chronicle

Witcher 3 is easily a GOTY contender. With GCU, it should be $20 at Best Buy though. And you can trade it in a lot easier if you didn't like it.

The controls a little wonky, even with the patched version. Roach (the horse) stops when it hits a blade of grass. The combat is repetitive. None of it is a deal breaker, but it's subpar.

The story though. It's definitely up there. Easily one of the best and most engaging stories. There are a lot of minor decisions that change minor things, and a few major decisions that change major points. As in entire cities can change because of your choices. That is probably the best part of the game. You literally decide the fate of a dozen or so more major characters. Geralt has 3 possible endings, Ciri 3 possible endings, and most other major characters 2 endings. And it's not like you're compelled to get all the endings; it mostly ends up how you would want things to end up, because of your choices.

You would benefit from reading up on a bit of history before you start though. About parts from the books referenced in the game, to the first two Witchers. I don't know how much less enjoyment you'd get if you didn't have some of the background info, but I felt like it helped my enjoyment immensely.

It's been a great controller game since the first on PC, so mouse has little affect on how well it plays since it's not a twitch game.

thanks! played the first and all dlc, but couldn't remember if being able to quickly mouse between towers/etc made it mouse-friendly. then again, i'm on a touchpad so i'd probably prefer controller more anymore lol.

If I had GCU i'd do that. Though i just bought Until Dawn for $20 from them.

And toy chest, godzilla, dark souls 2, zombie army trilogy, and wasteland 2 from gamefly. and will be grabbing battlefield 4 for $18 digitally.

which is why i'm feeling gunshy on my purchases... spending too much, too quickly. and worst yet, haven't grabbed any of my 'top 3 wishlist' items.

EDIT -- actually, you just solved my issue. I'd rather grab it for $25 physical via bestbuy... but I don't need more physical games. And if i can talk myself out of that, then i don't need to buy it digitally either.

Yeah mine doesn't seem to upload trophies at night either, but I've gotten into this habit of instinctively mashing the home button to sync a trophy whenever I earn it. This issue has been occurring for so long that I've been engaging in this silly habit for several months now.

Can't be any worse than AC. Last night I had to chase this guy and it started me on this series of platforms above him and at the end of the last platform there's a barrel or something on one side of the platform. I don't make any course adjustment because it's not really even in front of me and the character should go over or around it or something. Nope, it blocked like half their leg and they just couldn't figure out how to deal with it and just stood there. Couldn't even get them to go back or off the side and desynchronized. Good ol' AC.

Is it wrong I feel obligated to buy something with two sales and 10% off? Nothing in the sales are even grabbing me, but I feel like if I keep looking at the discounts one I want will magically show up. :p

affa... Come on now.
I don't buy many games from BB. I tend to get most of my physical games during gamefly used sales, and when i do get a game new i usually preorder it on amazon (uncharted 4, various vita drpgs, etc). Doesn't GCU cost money?

I did used to buy tons of new games during the great Kmart coupon train several years ago... but that train sadly ended.
