Guess that's your only option, unless you plan on trying the Nyko Data Bank for a 3.5" drive (which seems to have slowdown and heating issues) or just put a SATA extender cable set and hang a bare 3.5" drive off of it.
Unfortunately the PS3 & PS4 cap at 2tb. It's a software limitation, but if you put in a HDD larger then 2tb, the system will have issues sleeping and consistency issues.

I saw that DS4/PS Now deal a little while ago and jumped on it. I imagine it's going under a lot of people's radars since the controller isn't in the product name. Between that and Amazon's $50 deal on the Sony Gold Wireless Headset, I'm all set in terms of PS4 accessories.

Yeah, it's a nice deal if you're getting controllers. Would have ordered it if I had seen it at the time.

Whoa.... sold out online but Until Dawn is only $20?!?!! Does anyone know of any other stores planning on selling UD for $20? I guess I should add - 'online' - since i'll be unable to venture to stores.

Doubt it but any word on the Jack the ripper dlc release?
Just realized I could use the 20% coupon on the AC Syndicate season pass. I don't want to pay 30 if it sucks though.

Man, because of being a GCU member, I basically pick up everything on release date. Took advantage of the early access sale on Monday to clean-up on some things. I'm really just waiting for the PSN sales. I already have Beyond, The Old Hunters, and Dying Light's Season Pass in my cart. It would be nice if Arkham Knight's pass went on sale, but it would seem I already missed out on that awesome deal.

Probably. I greatly prefer the ability to change the internal hard drive, which is why my Xbox One is stuck at 500 GB. :whistle2:(
I'm opposite. Have an external on my X1 so now almost all multiplatform games are going there. I'm too lazy to transfer all my games and install an internal on PS4 but I may be forced to if they don't add external support soon.

Don't cloud saves basically eliminate the need to store more than a few games on your hard drive?
How? You'd still have to redownload or re-install your games, so the saves are the least important part of the process. They don't disappear when you delete games either.

Retail hit hard this year (it's not even Black Friday), more unwanted plastic entering my house.

I'm with Frisky on this one, I hate having extra crap hanging off my console. I love my 2TB PS4, and both my 360s have 500GB modded drives inside them.

I think the point here is that some would prefer digital copies (instead of physical versions). I wholeheartedly agree, but unfortunately Sony has not brought the pain in terms of pricing so far this week.
I think I may always prefer physical because then I know I always own the copy and I am not dependent upon an internet server to randomly pick up and play the game.

The fact that games can be removed from your system/inventory or just stop being available one day bugs me.

I will admit, I do buy digital when I see them cheap, and the on XB1 there really isn't a point in physcial since everything is downloaded anyways. Least the PS4 feels like the discs have some use.

It's a problem we'll need to face soon enough.

Afro Samurai 2 was apparently a compele crap game.... but someone may have enjoyed it or thought it was a so bad it's good game.

Well Sony and the Creators decided that.. well we're going to remove it from the store, refund everyone who bought it, and uninstall it from people's systems.

P.T. was an amazing demo, and while free... it's now forever on my PS4 since if I uninstall it, I lose access to this great an amazing little game.

This is a reality we'll have to face if we go completely digital. We have to deal with the whims of the creators who can take down access to the game without giving notice, or one day find that the game is no longer available for download since it is no longer cost effective.

The consumer needs protection. Something like a garuenteed 20-30yrs or more of access to said game digitally after it has been released.

I mean for heck sake, I still own NES, SNES, & Genesis games I can pop in and play at anytime. What is the lifespan of a cartridge or optical media? I feel the digital version of any product should be the average lifespan of those for of media.

Don't disc games install on the PS4's hard drive the same way they do on XB1?
Yes and No

With the PS4, most of the time all the data is on the disc and installs a portion or all to HD
With the XB1, many games have a small initial install file and the rest downloads from the net (Rare Replay, Halo 5, Gears)

Rare Replay has less than 10gigs on the disc, and 50gigs required to download.

However, this is from my experience and I only use my XB1 for Exclusives.

It varies by game and how they handle assets but most install the majority of the stuff because it's much faster than trying to load it off the disc in real time with these streaming engines.

I just skimmed the thread so I might not be talking about what you guys are talking about but:

1. The PS4 installs even physical discs in their entirety just as Xbox does. There is no hard drive space saving benefit to buying physical over digital. PS4 is quicker to be able to start playing games though afaik.

2. If you're buying a hard drive for the PS4 get the 2TB drive

Aye, it does install to the HD but in different proportions.
The main point I was making was the XB1 still has you download a good portion of the game from XBlive instead of just off the disc.

Ah ok.

3. Buy a PS4. Xbox sucks =)
I have everything >=)

But yea, I prefer the PS4. I noticed the trend when I bougth Rare Replay physical, when I put the disc in it had to download 50GB of data to play all the games.
A Similar thing happen with Gears and Halo 5.

Which makes me feel the disc is worthless.

I can understanding a patch, but nothing that big.
I am glad I'm no longer on Comcast since that would have eaten up their caps.

Internal all day, every day. The less things hanging off other things, the better.

We're never, ever going to hear the end of this doomsayer stuff will we?

How about I spin it the other direction -- in the one, tangible case of a bought product being SO fucking absolutely terrible and broken that the CEO of the company issued a public apology for it being an unplayable mess.... they had to beg Sony to come up with a way [since none existed] to remove the game from existence. While doing so, they refunded all [insert number lower than 10] people that bought it, in full.

Oh fucking no, the sky is falling! We're all doomed! Sony is gonna steal all our digital games!

Now, you might ask -- why didn't they leave it on the servers and allow people to optionally get refunds? Here's why. We're talking about a small handful of people that bought this product, and it's a situation so rare that this is the first [and most likely last] time a publisher/dev had to ask this of Sony for a bought product. Do you think Sony is going to spend the time creating the store and web functionality to support such a rare case [opt in page, security, store infrastructure to support this odd case] -- and all the coding and QA that would entail? Or do you think, perhaps, the easiest way to deal with the situation in this one of a kind scenario was just to refund people? [hint: refund is the only sane answer if you have ever worked in tech].

As for P.T.... nobody paid for it. Yes, it sucks. But nobody paid for it, and most likely Konami essentially had Sony over a barrel on that one.

Even if Sony went bankrupt tomorrow, PSN is a thriving online store and someone would buy it and keep it running. Will our games be here in 50 years? Well, by then, perhaps storage costs will so low it'll be easy to double backup our digital collections [I already have 200+g of vita games on my PC]. Or you know, maybe I just won't care.

I'm not saying there aren't issues with digital ownership. Of course there are. But the doom and gloom and using P.T. and AS2 to predict nightmare scenarios is straight up goofy. IOS, on the other hand, has a history of problematic digital policy. Sony, really, does not. They let us take advantage of price glitches and other store mistakes [like buying DLC and getting a game free by accident] and don't ban people who take advantage, they keep stuff up for permanent download, they allow cross-buy in many cases, even some surprising ones [like many PS4 upgraded games such as Journey].... and the only cases where there where any sort of issue are extreme outliers where Konami and Afro Samurai both shit the bed and needed Sony to bleach it clean.
