How bad is Wander? Can I get $5 enjoyment out of it?
This is all I know about it. The official site mentions just one big update to fix issues back in September 2015 and they have this timeline of things they're supposedly working on. Here are the Steam reviews. As long as you go in knowing it's probably going to be hilariously bad, you may get some enjoyment out of it.

The Rock Band account makes a good point that the Rock Band Blitz purchase would be good price to get it in Rock Band 4 if you want more cheap songs for that game:

I feel like there are a lot of vita games I want. I added the following to my cart:

Tales Of Hearts R, J-Stars Victory VS+, Hyperdimension Neptunia ReBirth 2, Monster Monpiece, MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies, Paranautical Activity, Lets Fish: Hooked On

Not gonna buy all of them cus that's a lot of money but any reccomendations from this list? Still have to check the PS4 sale again but didn't see anything that stood out to me there from my first pass through. Really wish Salt & Sanctuary was on sale but maybe next week.
buy tales of hearts r. its pretty fun though on the long side. Also note its jpn only with english sub.

ok..

Tales of Hearts R - Own it physical, tempted to double dip at this price

Hyperdimension Neptunia ReBirth2 - Same as above. (Own whole series on Vita physical)

Ar nosurge Plus - I'm hearing "don't buy" (in this thread)

Atelier Totori Plus - it's 2nd in series, so buy for backlog? or?..

Trillion - Hmm.. heard "bad" to "meh" reviews. Could get physical for a few $ more..

Volume - Heard it's a good game.

All/Some of the Tales games on PS3 - Do I really want to unbury the PS3?.. (Hearts R only Tales i've played)

Omega Quintet - it's $4..

Not buying anything until we know the July PS+ stuff. (has not been reveled yet right?)

Tales of Hearts R is so-so...pretty typical Tales fare. But one of the weaker entries in my opinion. Atelier Totori was one of the worst RPGs in recent memory - can not recommend it at all.

Any thought on Lords of the Fallen? I honestly never got into the Dark Souls games so is it pointless to try this game?
i know this game got a lot of flack, but personal, I really enjoyed it. But I also enjoy the souls game. This one was much easier for me to get into because while the fighting mechanics are very similar to dark souls, its no where near as hard. So if the difficultly is what turned you off of Dark Souls, but you appreciated what it was trying to do, it might be worth giving LOTF a try.

Transformers was pretty good imo. It's very short though, and I only beat it twice, but I enjoyed it, and I paid $25 last Black Friday. It has one of the better soundtracks I've ever heard. There are parts that'll challenge you, like I believe the 2nd to last time you fight Megatron, that boss fight is insane, and I died alot.
As a big G1 fan, I bought Devastation at launch and was not disappointed. The campaign is just about the right length for an action game that's meant to be replayed. The loot system and the multiple difficulties kept me going for at least 25 hours and the music, like you said, is superb. Anybody that's a G1 fan and/or likes Bayonetta-style games really can't go wrong especially at this price.

I burned myself out on Tales games, but I remember all of the PS3 ones being fun, at least.
I really like Omega Quintet's battle system. The characters are ridiculous. The premise is silly. If you're into that sort of thing, it helps. If you enjoy turn based combat that's deeper than it first appears (without actually getting complicated), I'd say Omega Quintet is worth at least $4.

Is it wierd to be more interested in the indie titles than the big budget games out? I find myself playing the small developer games I buy in these sales more than AAA releases.

Aside from bloodborne I havent found any major game this gen that I look forward to.

It depends, on the Tales series... did you like Tales of Hearts R? I would say all of the PS3 ones are enjoyable, and Graces / Xillia / Xillia 2 are mostly voiced + voiced skits which add to the experience :) Graces is my favorite of the PS3 bunch. I wouldn't play them all back to back though unless you are a huge JRPG fan... I usually devote myself to a Tales game, then take a break with another series.

Not weird at all. I find my self doing the same thing. Example, I have the Mrs Pac Man plat. Lol. I know that's not an indie, but you get my point....

Well, "The Swindle" has lived up to its name. I bought it yesterday during the flash sale for $1.50 more.

Does anyone know if you can renew your free membership by using those 14-7 free days of PS+ vouchers? I'm considering signing up for the free trial (its the first time I would be joining) but I think I might have a 7-14 voucher for free PS+ back at home and kinda want to use it for another occasion. Has anyone attempted this?
As far as I know I do believe there are some "gold" vouchers for 2 free days for xbox users and I do think you can keep using them to renew your free trial. Is there an equivalent to this for PS+?

I'm looking to join the free trial to pay some sweet PS+ discounted prices. Thanks in advance!

Enjoying what I've played of Dreamals so far. It's a puzzle platformer featuring three animals that you can control independently and combine them to combine their abilities. One animal can move left, the other can move right, and the third can jump. You have to figure out how to best use them in each level to get a key and get to the exit, as you're often controlling two at once for those separate objectives. They've done a good job in the first set of levels in adding new wrinkles, but the level design isn't amazing so far in the way that games like Boxboy or The Swapper nailed its puzzle design. Good buy for $1 with PS+.

Submerged was hyped through the roof? That seems like an overstatement.
Well, I know I had heard a lot of chatter about it for an indie game. It was, after all, made by a group of developers who had worked on Bioshock.

Trails do give you full access to the ps+ discounts. I redeemed the 2 day free trail sony gives you on ps4 and was able to purchase a game on sale with the ps+ discount and get the free games for that month. Use the 14 day you get for join plus for the first time since its free and will be voided after you use any of those vouchers you have . Just double check those vouchers because to my knowledge they have expiration dates and the last game that i can remember that handed out a free 14 day trail was destiny TKK.

Is costume quest 2 any good for that price? I thought the first one was pretty good but never hear anything said about the sequal so I am gonna guess its not good.

It is pretty solid, actually. It's very similar to the first game but it really is quite a fun time in its own right. $3 is very good for it.

It's better than the original, though it's still more of the same. They made the battle system more uniform across the various costumes and made some abilities, like the roller shoes, available with any costume.

Pretty sure I'm getting

  • The BIT Trip
  • A Boy and His Blob
  • Grim Fandango Remastered
  • Thomas Was Alone
  • Shantae: Risky's Revenge
  • Super Startdust Ultra
  • Tales of Hearts R
  • Hyperdevotion Noire
I'm still on the fence about a couple of others.  I'll probably pick up J-STARS for PS4, and Broken Age.  I need to decide between getting The Fall on PS4 or Mac.  I was already planning on getting it on Steam (it's $1.99), and I really can't think of a reason to prefer the PS4 version (I honestly don't care as much for trophies as I do the experience, and either way I'm going to be paying it on a TV with a controller.  Probably stick with the Mac/PC, since I'll have that with me overseas.

What I really need to decide on is the "Tales of" games for PS3. I'm effectively new to the franchise (have only played Tales of Vesperia on the X360), and I already have a serious backlog.  I mean, I don't mind adding to a backlog (obviously), but if these games are often at this price point, I might as well just wait.  From what I can tell, they're at these particular prices a couple of times a year, so I'll probably hold off. At least for a few more days.   :D

EDIT: erm... nm.  Apparently I already made this decision at some point in the past.  :/

I noticed that The Fall is cheaper on Steam too, it's $2 there, and I can request a refund if I hate it. Steam wins!

agreed. playing xillia and graces back to back was major burn out for me. I did much better last year with months between hearts r eternia and zestiria. doesn't help that zestirias and xillias combats are on the too easy side while also lacking in experimentation (outside aerial combat for xillia which I'm no good at)

buuuh cant decide between getting tales of symphonia for pc or ps3
pc would be the bettter option in theory since fps mods are out to fix the battle speed among other things. And possibly down the road more mods to improve the game further. Plus you could get someone elses ng+ file possibly (don't know if files are locked to profiles like psn) and start with grade shop goodies exclusive to ng+ and ng+ is always better than a normal run since it covers the ex gems, save gems, title costumes and the like.

Its good and very short. 6 hours to do everything. The only issue I had was 2 story mission requires you to follow invisible foot print trails and they don't pace them evenly enough apart to follow them so you get easily lost on the trail. the latter you wouldn't even know without looking it up.

Don't you love that feeling of being excited to buy a particular game that's on sale only to find out you already own it somewhere?
I've only made that mistake once thankfully. dark cloud I somehow ended up with 2 copies. I think the reason is that the one copy I got at gamestop without the cover art so I forgot I had it when I found one with the cover art for 5$ new at walmart.

I have all my games in a backlog list now so I don't have to worry about making that mistake again.
