PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

I remember watching some Stephen King TV thing probably 10 years ago. It had Ron Perlman and Brian from Wings in it. It was pretty bad. I think it was called Desperation or Desolation or some shit.

So Groupon has this mystery box of electronics you can buy for $40.  It contains 6 to 7 different items with 1 in 300 getting a box with either a PS4, XBone, or Apple Watch.  Also every box is guaranteed to have a Cobra Airwave Mini portable Bluetooth speaker and a Tylt Power 5,200 mAh battery backup.

Don't worry, I'm not thinking about doing this, just thought it was interesting because mystery boxes are fun and tempting and usually not worth it. I did their watch mystery thing this summer and got a piece of shit that lost time after a day or two. But at least they gave me a full refund no questions asked.

Another good example of a book I really enjoyed that turned into a stinker of a show/movie.

Moral of the story is to just read. Looking at your illiterate ass Wren.

Desperation. I read the book. It wasn't bad at all, but pretty standard fare for him. The interesting thing about Desperation is that it was a dual-release with The Regulators, which he put out under his Richard Bachman pseudonym. The two books have mostly the same characters but the stories are written in the different styles for each "author."

If you're curious, he wrote Running Man and Thinner under the Bachman name as well.

I watched the first two seasons of Under the Dome, but it got more and more ridiculous with poor acting as it went on. Watched more out of habit than anything.

And while most of King's book to TV/movie translations are bad, surely you've heard of The Shining, Stand By Me, Shawshank Redemption, and the Green Mile.

And I thought the It and The Stand tv miniseries movies were well received. As well as Pet Semetary and Carrie (the original one).

Besides that though, the books are still good shit. Regardless how the adaptations turn out.
I guess I should've mentioned that I never saw shawshank or the green mile but yeah I know they're loved along with others from years ago. I just didn't think he was still making anything good, as always I could definitely be wrong. I'm sure the third iteration of Carrie and the sequel to The Children of the Corn were probably pretty good. At least as good as Under the Dome.

How funny would it be if you did it and then got stuck with a xbone.

Guess you could try and swap it somewhere though.

ugh, he puts out books under a different name with a different style? If I didn't hate stephen king before this morning, I definitely do now!

There's a new series starting on Hulu soon called 11/22/63 about the assassination of Kennedy that's adapted from his book of the same name. So he's still putting out stuff people think is good enough to be adapted.

He did nearly 40 years ago. Last one was in 82. It was because back then publishers did not want authors putting out more than 1 book a year. They agreed to let him put out others under a different name.

ETA: Now publishers would love it well known authors would crank out more books. Whoever publishes the Game of Thrones books would just like that lazy bastard to get one out somewhere near the time they plan.

I would find Zimm and kick him in the ass if he wasted $40 on this shit. That could go towards a PS4, or better yet his divorce!

He's put three since then under the Bachman name. Thinner (84), Regulators (96), and Blaze (07). The latter two books were supposedly discovered after Bachman's death.

The wiki entry for his pseudonym is interesting. Bachman "died" in 85 when somebody figured out they were the same person. He was working on Misery at the time and it was intended to be a Bachman release. The Dark Half book he put out was inspired by the pseudonym concept.

Yeah I was going to say that there have definitely been Bachman books released after 82.

11/22/63 was a good book. Revival was good. Doctor Sleep was good. It's not his fault the movies and shows made based on his books end up not that great.
normally I'd agree with this, but really as people are reading less and less his movies and tv shows will be the only way people know who he is. even before people stopped reading so much I don't expect many people would seek out a book that a mediocre movie is based on to see if the book is better. I wouldn't be surprised if in 20 years most people in their 30s and younger will have never read a stephen king book but will probably have seen a stephen king story in other media.

so yeah, it's not totally his fault (I'd hope he would have _some_ input though), but it certainly could have an impact on his legacy. I did read about Under The Dome and it sounds like the original story would've been way better with the dome only lasting a week and the source being entirely different. but I'd have no idea unless I'd had this conversation - I'd just think it was a shitty story by stephen king.

all that said, isn't The Dark Tower/Gunslinger series thing up next for the movie treatment? those will probably fare pretty well in translation and it seems to have a decent fan base.

if you have a target that's friendly to pricematch + cartwheel, there's a 50% off lego dimensions fun packs in cartwheel through 1/30.  if you pm bby ($7.50) then they should end up around $3.75.

going to figure out something to stream, but my internet may be cracking out today. unless it's just the servers on this game. thought i was going to have to spend the last 2 hours of this event on neverwinter, but i got the special companion character on my first battle this morning.

Hows flower? That a plus game?
By the Law of the PLAY promotion, it will be (via Journey CE), and apparently those assholes deleted that PLAY post I did which guessed when it was we'd see them be added to plus based on past PSN PLAY promotions.

another option: the bomb is supposed to go off on March 1st but the terrorists forgot it was a leap year. they should be paying us for this stuff.

speaking of giant stinkers, anyone ever watch this Under The Dome show? I can't remember the last time I kept watching something that I thought was so ridiculous.
I can't decide which was stupider that television season, Under the Dome or Helix. I slogged through Under the Dome S1, but I just couldn't bear anymore of Helix and stopped on like episode 10 which is pretty much unheard of for me to get that close and just stop. Both were renewed for S2, but I didn't watch either.

lol tiptop

and the morning wake up crew does seem to have dissolved. you early risers should make sure we're psn friends though. the only person I ever see online in the morning is pancakes's abandoned diablo sessions where I assume he fell asleep in his chair or something.

oh yeah I sent that ring to vig, cainiac and velo this morning. I couldn't remember anyone else that asked except stotch and I never know if he's being serious or snarky. I made a couple more just in case.
If you could send me one of those too, that'd be great, thanks!

Hey Cleaner are you done playing PvZ GW2 beta? I just read that it ends tuesday morning 2 am pacific time.
I can play today before the beta ends.

Send me a ring please.

Besides The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, I liked The Mist and its divisive ending. I'm not a fan of horror but it was worth watching for that.

I can stream something right now. Not sure what.

If not that then I can stream Sleeping Dogs. I don't remember how graphic that is. Or any other suggestions. I wanna play an action game.

Best Buy shipped my copy of RE Origins Collection.

HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPE
They shipped my copy today too. I had a $15 cert that expired in a few days so I ordered it last night. Not bad for $18.33 and love using that CAG math. Also love Elite Plus since those points rack up quick.

I don't think it's restricted.

With all the talk of Dante's Inferno I was thinking of starting that.
If you want a decent, fair challenge to keep you engaged then go with Zealot (normal) difficulty. That's what I've gone with so far and there are a few fights which I've squeaked through on, but mostly I've only had to restart 1 or 2 times, it's some of the jumps which I've had to restart the most on. There aren't any difficulty trophies though so if you just want to cruise through and let off some steam then go with Classic.
