PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

Zimm and heavy metal team, what weird bands do you guys listen to?  I need some new stuff while playing Project Root.  I went through a lot of Metallica already.

You might like Refused (shape of punk to come) or Snapcase. They're a little harder than Metallica but still accessible.

Edit - both technically hardcore yadda yadda

That's the standard hipster line: "You've probably never heard of it."

yeah Metallica isnt hard at all. I just always go back to them. But I like some harderr stuff now and then.

It really depends on what style you're looking for. Try 3 Inches of Blood's Advance and Vanquish album. That's good stuff.
Ill try it out. I dont look for styles, just whatever I like I like. I try different things.

Like who knew I would ever like a song called Trap Queen from a guy called Fetty Wap. Who happens to have one eye...

yeah i was going to 100% Guns Gore and Chaos but just rage quit it trying to get one of the trophies to finish a level without killing any enemies. It just isnt worth worrying about it and even teh 2K kills one I would have needed for the 100%. Im sure im close but who cares really. Im happy playing games for fun and maybe go for some stupid trophies here and there but I aint no Mild thats for sure.

SUCK IT MILD!
Thyme weights four know mann.

If worse comes to worse, when you finish getting all the other trophies you can dupe a high level consumable soul item and level up to 150ish range (I think that's where I'm at, I'll have to check) and I can just drop you a +5 bladestoned weapon. I gave up trying to get it legitimately after awhile and I found someone to drop me a pure bladestone. Though you definitely want to get the friends and foe ring before leveling out of common multiplayer range just in case you need a little character tendency to get you over the top.
Thanks, I might take you up on that.

I only need the Friends Ring for that trophy. I did the Foes/Friends Ring backwards so I have to kill all the named Black Phantoms twice to get my character tendency back to Pure White. I still need to drop Selen, Scirvir, and Satsuki, and I'll get that ring. I know you can play online to improve character tendency, but I prefer playing the game offline for the most part.

Also, when I first played the game I didn't know about item duping. The only boss I have left on NG+ is the final boss, and I've already used the bosses souls for the miracles and weapons trophies. I need to play through NG++ for the souls I need for the magic trophy. Not a problem, though, since this is one of my favorite games.

Edit: I'm about level 140 right now after all the Pure Bladestone farming. About 130+ hours played, too.

Reached Level 20 in Destiny. Holy crap I'm actually getting somewhere in Vanguard and Crucible where I don't die in a matter of seconds. These multiplayer modes are better than any I've played in Call of Duty or Battlefield (or Star Wars Battlefront for that matter).

Depends on what you like about Metallica. Options that have obvious Metallica influence:

Iced Earth is an easy answer. Night of the Stormrider, Burnt Offerings, and Horror Show are good starting points. Start with Burnt Offerings and if you like that, go from there.

Testament is another option. Even more of a Metallica clone than Iced Earth, and their vocalist even sounds a lot like Hetfield, especially in early albums. The Gathering is probably their most in your face album (has Slayer's Dave Lombardo on drums), and First Strike Still Deadly has a number of their early songs rerecorded with better production.

Two modern albums from long time bands that fit the bill for vidya games:

Destruction's The Antichrist rocks, some of the choruses are insanely catchy and the energy displayed throughout the album is high. Curse the Gods sounds great rerecorded, and is a wonderful way to end the album.

Exodus' Tempo of the Damned is generally catchy, has some aggressive songs, and features a Brian Johnson clone on vocals.

I stayed away from super underground stuff, death metal and other forms of extreme metal, and stuck to albums with modern or decent production.

Iced Earth is good. Their Alive in Athens CD1 is fantastic, too. The original Something Wicked trilogy is just amazing and the Gettysburg trilogy is IMO better than everything they've done since.

Checked it this afternoon, I'm 152, so according to the soul level calculator we are already in range for co-op. I've got a friends ring and a Sharp +5 uchi on that character so I can always back-up the save, drop those two items so that you can keep them, and then revert my save in 24 hours to get them back. So if you get fed up of bladestone hunting and/or don't want to have to mess with world tendency anymore, let me know.

I did character tendency by handing out in 4-1 killing invaders until it was pure white, and then I invaded and killed people until it was pure black. Though with the player population being so much smaller now that's not as much of an option.

My dog finally had her check up to determine if they need to operate on her right side. The good news is nothing has grown and all but a few lumps shrunk. The bad news is they still want to remove the few lumps since they're still a significant size and surgery would be about $2500 not including if she has to stay at the overnight clinic again while he was about $250.

I know I can't afford another large bill while I pay off the first one so my friend suggested doing a GoFundMe. I think I'll explore that option because otherwise I can't do it.
If you do a GoFund Me page it'll be more legit than some of the shit people ask money for. I hope the best for your dog. Keep the PMA!

Wren don't know if you ever checked out SNOT, love this band and this album has the perfect name "Get Some".

How does one with no patience and lack of gaming skill get past the beginning of Demon Souls? I always wanted to at least experience it but I'm not really patient and all the guides read like tax code to me. It's all clicks and buzzes and it scares me away.

Iced Earth is pretty solid. The main member and guitarist, Jon Schaffer, is from a town about an hour from me. A friend of a friend told me he could let me meet Schaffer next time he comes around, which would be pretty awesome.

Matt Barlow, the lead singer for Iced Earth for a really long time, has also been involved in a couple other heavy projects that are good. Check these out:

Was it at the Spectrum? 2001, I think? I was at that show. Tool played an incredible set that night.

Sounds about right, would have put me in 10th grade which I believe is correct. They definitely did.

I wouldn't think Meshuggah would come off well in a live setting. Meshuggah's playbook, especially since 2002, is about repetition and subtle progression, which for obvious reasons is recipe for a snoozefest live.

I tried listening to them for a week before the show to try and familiarize myself with their music but it was a chore.

The speedrun trophy in Ninja Senki is no joke. You pretty much have to do a no-death run at the same time to barely make it under the 25-minute mark.

I removed all of Swaine's familiars and he's stealing like crazy--not always successfully but he tries a few times a battle. Should be easy to knock out that 50 steals trophy.

CAG actually has a really solid destiny group on PS4. Let me know if you want to join up.

I'd rather have some instrumental metal/math-rock recommendations

(Stuff like Pelican, Don Cabalero, etc.)

Melodic, pulsating hard metal but without all the screaming and cookie-monster vocalists. .

What modes do they have that neither of those franchises have?

Blotted Science

Spastic Ink's first album is also instrumental, and features the same guitarist/songwriter.

Does anyone want to do some co-op missions in assassin's creed unity?  I did a couple solo, but if someone else (avenged?) still needs to do them, might as well do the rest together.

Reached Level 20 in Destiny.
And it turns out I didn't go through my quests to see which ones I completed.

From those experience points, I made it to Level 23.

Yeah, sounds like fun. Plus I've been meaning to hook up my [unopened] headset.

Playable ones.

In CoD and Battlefield, I end up dying in seconds so I don't have time to enjoy the multiplayer map. In Destiny, I can actually last a while and kill enemies and if I'm lucky capture a flag and contribute more points. It's even more fun when I'm able to take down someone with a Level 40 rank.
