PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

Damn, I probably wouldn't have needed to cancel my NMS then. Too late though. Still secretly hoping for a delay on star ocean or technomancer. Since they come out on the same day, and i really want to play them both.
Seems like localizations rarely get delayed. Technomancer might, but I'd expect the plat for that to be relatively short compared to Star Ocean's. Unless you're going to not play any other games but SO5 for 4-5 months I'm not sure why a game that takes 20-40 hours to plat should be an issue.

Pretty disappointing to hear. Glad I didn't stop at best Buy last night. Guess I'll have to play that ooze game on PS3. Hopefully they can update at some point to fix some of the issues. Never expected this out of platinum though.
You might want to pass on "that ooze game"... it's got issues of its own. Very very generic metroidvania. The son and i had an ok time with it I suppose but I got pretty annoyed when the 100% trophy glitched on me. It's a known issue and what triggers it has never been figured out... pretty much a 50/50 chance of it affecting you.

New Ys trailer. In Japanese, but still pretty to look at. At one point there was a 4-way split screen...does this one have co-op?  :whistle2:k

On the HBO app I noticed they have the pilot for Outcast. It's some sort of demon/possession story that premieres on Cinemax on June 3. Robert Kirkman the creator of The Walking Dead executive produces it. I might watch it but I don't have Cinemax to continue watching if I like it.
It's based off the comic of same name. Kirkman writes it. I got the first few issues when it started (too bad I got 2nd print of first issue, first print should go way up if show is a hit) and it's pretty good.

Odd that first episode would be on HBO when show is Cinemax. Also shitty for show to be on Cinemax period.

The Vita version of DQH2 looks pretty damn solid. Unless they cut something out versus the PS4 edition I think this'll be the one to get. Hopefully it gets localized.

Is it really that hard to make a good ninja turtles game? It's mind boggling.
Gotta sympathize with Platinum a little. You know they were under pressure to get this out before the new movie next week. I mean it wasn't that long ago that info on the game first surfaced so I have to suspect a really short development time overall.

I thought I read about some of the PS2 TMNT games being good but I've never looked into it. As long as Activision has the rights and they are trying to synch it up with movie releases expectations should probably be low for Turtles games.

Best bands/albums I've heard so far this year that I can think of if you want to check them out:

Black Mountain-iv
Car seat headrest-teens of denial
Radiohead-moon shaped pool
Aesop rock-impossible kid
Good call on the Black Mountain. I'd never heard of them before, but listened to that album on the bus ride into work. It's a pretty awesome album and a perfect transition from all the Zeppelin I've been listening to the last couple days. Looking forward to checking out the others.

I dunno. If they were that rushed for time they could have just followed the Transformers model of arena, corridor, arena with fights mostly focused in the arena and running through the game one turtle at a time. I didn't like that at all, but a lot of people did and it gave the traditional score-based precision fighter feel that Platinum is known for. Instead they came up with a completely new fight system that just doesn't appear to work well and is completely different from their normal approach. Hard to feel sympathy for that.

Those both have relatively recent revivals, so that works. I'd rather see He-Man make a return but that's been dead for over 10 years now.
Wait what? I'm aware of the short-lived Cartoon Network reboot of ThunderCats (and the crap DS game that came with it), but what SilverHwaks revival?

As far as He-Man, there was a really cool licnesed mobile game that came out years ago that I'm surprised hasn't been ported to a console or real handheld. It was hard to play with touch controls, but the concept and feel of a good He-Man game was definitely there.

Less than I initially thought. I was checking the Silverhawks wiki and it's got a reference to the 2011 run of Thundercats. Apparently it was just a brief cameo rather than a fuller integration into the show. Still something, but not much.

Man I miss my castle grayskull and he man action figures.

There seem to be other versions and now I dont know which one I had, but pretty sure it looked like this one. Nevermind I def had this one as its apparently the original and then they made new versions later.

I've determined I suck pretty bad at Downwell.  I sure hope better upgrades/help comes eventually, or 2-1 will be my limit.  At least I got the 6 HP dude now.

I've been wanting the Division on sale but these new updates really don't sound good for it at all.
I really enjoyed doing the campaign co-op with friends. Even the Dark Zone was fun at times since it had stronger enemies and took a lot of strategy to extract stuff from certain zones if you could manage to avoid all the rogue bull shit. That was nothing but a pain in the ass. I know there are a lot of players that like that part, but I know there are a lot of people like me that plan not to play it anymore due to that.

That mobile heman game was cool when the controls didn't suck. I also liked the thundercats revival, too bad it got canned.

No Mans Sky delayed 1 or 2 months?  LOL.  Mighty Number 9 here we come!

At least Mighty Number 9 looks like it may have actual gameplay.  What little there is.

"Upgrades" isn't quite right. New characters have tradeoffs, likes 6HP guy getting only two choices between levels.

In short, get gud. (But I have only done a little better - I think I'll do better on PS4 on the big screen if and when they fix it).

I don't know how to learn spells or miracles or whatever.
If you join way of the white, you already met him, you can buy miracles from him early. Though your base faith is too low to cast anything of use. Being a WotW member will also decrease your chance of invasions (which is something new I didn't know).

If you take the elevator below firelink down and head to the right you can buy a few spells from a vendor now, though your base intelligence is too low. You need a minimum of 10 to cast anything.

Pyromancy will become an option a little later, in the entrance area of the Depths look closely for a character in distress. Roll to free him and he will make his way back to Firelink Shrine.

You buy spells/miracles/pyromancies from vendors or find them on corpses, then equip them on the atune menu of the bonfire, then equip a catalyst/talsman/pyro flame in a hand slot and then use it like a weapon by pressing R1 or L1.

uncharted 4 (spoilered for long and also spoilers):

I really hated this game for like the first half.  Other than the sweet madagascar chase scene from e3 I didn't find much that I liked and it did start really slow like a bunch of folks mentioned.  I think I started enjoying it more when Elena came back in to the picture.  She's a good character with a really good VA behind her and the relationship/banter with her and Drake was solid.  all of the acting was really impressive actually.

so yeah, probably around chapter 10 or so is when I started getting interested.  it just took forever to get there.  the story was fine.  I actually missed the ridiculous supernatural nonsense from the other uc games I played - I kept waiting for it and waiting for it and was vastly disappointed.  I think it really made the game feel like it was dragging since there was literally one enemy (shoreline) for the _entire_ game and they had like 4 visual variations.  I know that's par for the course, but some ghost pirates or something would've been a nice wacky change.  or anything.

It looks pretty enough, but when I sat there and stared at it as I was moving around I couldn't help but think 'assassins creed does this better' - whenever I'd see Drake's arm try to brush up against a wall or person or other solid object and he misses by a foot I'm just a bit more appreciative of that new AC engine.  For all their foibles, ubisoft has really honed the mechanics and interaction of that game.  it feels like the main character in an AC game is actually interacting with the world they're in unlike uncharted 4 which honestly felt like programmers were trying to create an illusion of interacting with the world.  the excessively weird partner AI didn't help this either - they could run directly in front of bad guys without alerting them (probably for fairness reasons, I get that) and at least on crushing they almost literally can't kill anything.  in avery's mansion I let elena sit there and shoot point blank at the last guy in the room for 5 minutes and he wouldn't fall down.  I think she actually put 100 bullets in him.

as far as the Crushing difficulty it wasn't that bad - I don't know what happened to simm/vig, but for some reason I breezed through chapter 20 with barely any deaths at all.  it was downright fun - I really got a kick out of the long underground cave after Avery's mansion with waves of dudes coming through.  the end boss fight with the quasi qte swordfight was absolutely fucking awful though - probably 100+ deaths and took me two hours.  too bad, because the actual visuals in that room are probably some of the best I've seen.  it was definitely a mistake to start on crushing though.  the repeat deaths really destroyed the flow of some of the levels and made the swordfight feel so bloody anticlimactic that I was just glad it was over.  everyone that played it on a lower difficulty first and then used bonuses for crushing were smart.

the ending is great.  I don't know if it's what fans of the series were hoping for (I wouldn't say that I'm a dyed in the wool uncharted fan) but I loved it.  it had just the right amount of wrap-up and happy ending to make it feel like they could close the series out.  and the transition to the epilogue surprised me.  also, the Drake house is rad.

So, good game.  I'm glad I played it.  The ending, the nutty firefight underground and the madagascar chase were the highlights for me.  I'll be curious to see what they pull together for tlou2.

I still have that exact one in my basement and my kid plays with it every once in a while.
It amazes me when I hear things like this. Why would you keep things like that for so long? I mean you didnt live in the same place all these years right? What makes a person want to take all this type of stuff with them when they move? I mean unless you know its a collectors item and worth thousands (which we never knew when we were kids). Its just amazing to me stuff like this even survives that long.

It just amazes me, not trying to say your stupid for keeping it...just a little crazy maybe.

Mega Man 5 is harder than I remembered - particularly the Dr. Wily levels. It took a few continues but I beat it (for the second time ever). I should replay it and 6 as I did for Mega Man 1-4 and try to be REALLY good at them.

That being said, videos for Mega Man 3 (aka the struggle begins) are up. I'll post three of them at a time every hour.

Auto-aim probably made your Ch. 20 easier, you dirty cheater. :boxing:

Also, the partner AI killed quite a few enemies for me on Crushing, saving me valuable bullets, but they weren't good at getting the more armored guys. I really enjoyed the final boss fight despite the many, many checkpoint restarts.

Therm saves the day. I was worried about the plat time, but we're good since you confirmed 20-40 hours.

Star ocean would be my game of choice, and I know it's going to take a while. My issue would be the same as most people, Time and money. 20-40 hours for me right now is 2 weeks to a month, and I really don't want to spend $100 in one day on games.

Trophy deal isn't that big of an issue. I already bought it on sale a while back, and it's something I can talk the wife into playing with me for at least 15 minutes. Though, you just said one of my trigger words.

Okay guys lets guess what Derek's trigger word is...generic?!?
