PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

well I'm 4 levels away from 70 now on hardcore diablo. shout out to cro for joining in while my internet connection was fucked up and managing to live. I'm too squishy for expert or whatever difficulty I was on but it didn't seem to phase him of course.

We've almost caught you Mild. Velo and I just hit 60 and killed Diablo about 10 minutes ago. We're taking a 30-60 break and will be back to clean up Maltheal and hit 70. Crazy considering we were still in chapter 2 and level 33 when we started several hours ago.

I'm down to run rifts and bounties with you, looking to get the same gear on this guy as I have on my main in normal mode.

I need to actually go back and play Diablo again. I was only playing co-op with a friend but that worked about as well as expected because I haven't played in over a year.

some more thoughts

was kind of interesting seeing how different parts of the game looked after different things happened. one that really stands out. the scene at the end right before mike and sam find josh, all the bodies hanging. my first couple playthroughs i didn't understand why they were so grossed out/upset about the old man being dead. the i saw the scene on the all death run. a few more scenes where they didn't really tie the cause and effect together well.

something else that gave me a little chuckle. the table with the saws, where chris has to choose between shooting himself or ashley. my other times through, ashley was practically begging chris to shoot her instead. so, you shoot her, she gets pissed off, and then leaves chris outside to die.

No Plat for A Boy and His Blob? C'mon, that was a retail title on Wii!

Also sucks that Attractio didn't get one, looks like it might be a pretty decent first person puzzler.

It's a weird feeling when you sit down in the mindset to start a certain new game and then decide last minute to play something out of left field. I planned on starting Shadow of Mordor GOTY but ended up with God of War: Chains of Olympus. At least maybe it'll put the brakes on the open world game fatigue since I got a bunch of those on deck.

Anyways, I guess Chains of Olympus takes place before the first GoW. I had to go look up what happened in that one and GoW II. I'd forgotten a lot of the plot even though I just played them both in the past 8 months or so.

Those of us who do have to work do not have to be there before the sun is up like you. Is there anyone in the super early morning posting club besides Pete? We used to have Tiptop as well, but he disappeared for a while. At least he is doing some drive by likes, but it would be nice to have him posting more again.

Ugh today is going to suck. My back is stiff from golf and I have a sore throat and a cold I think. And I have to go to work because we have that issue to clean up, I have people out on vacation and I have tto give my people their "raises".

Celebrity deaths confuse the shit out of me. No one was talking about David Bowie even a few days before he died, and he just released a new album. Then he dies and you get people telling stories about how just a few days ago they waited outside in a record setting blizzard to be first in line to buy the album. It's super annoying to me how ridiculous people can get over this stuff.

When Alan Rickman died, there was a chick I work with who shared a hundred pictures and quotes of him on Facebook. And she'd post about how sad she was and how she was crying like she knew him personally.

You're being too specific here, I think. People are fucking idiots about celebrities all the time, not just at deaths. There's absolutely no reason for any thinking person to give a shit who Blake Shelton is married to or who Kim Kardashian is, but there's an entire industry around how idiots obsess about that stuff.

Why do you feel the need to look up plot points for games that take place chronologically after the prequel you're playing?

There's a difference in what he's talking about though. People regularly act like celebrities don't exist only to act like they can't live without them once they die.

No, it's the same thing, I think. A question of degree, perhaps, but even then it fits the norm of how people react to death whether it's a celebrity or not. Every funeral I've been to has been a collection of people who barely interacted with the deceased getting together and talking about what an impact they had and such. Even outside of  the funeral itself conversations that come up basically work the same way as what he was talking about no matter who it is. Celebrity deaths just pull in more people.

It isnt confusing at all. People love to say "look at me look at me!". No one knows Aunt Sally, but we all know who Alan Rickman or David Bowie are. So when they die people can use that to put out some nonsense and have others pay attention to them. We all know this already. Facebook, Twitter and all the other stupid social media sites are about one thing. Narcissism.

This is exactly my point. No one talks about these people, but then they die and we're having conversations about all the Academy Awards that Alan Rickman was screwed out of. Or how David Bowie was the greatest musician of all time.

I was thinking the same thing reading all the comments on youtube about David Bowie. Aren't all of our lives special? Am I less of a human for not writing hit songs or being famous? It only gets really annoying when people over do it. My brother died the same week Michael Jackson did so all the internet nonsense really got to me.
Sorry to hear about your brother.

I'm an idiot. I am ok with that since it got you to post.

In my defense there is a guy I know online that runs a beer website whose screen name is TipTop. He is the guy I have mentioned to Zimm that works at Surly.

I know that doesn't excuse the idiocy but maybe it drops me a couple spots on the leader board.

wow this looks pretty cool. I'm a sucker for that old b-movie aesthetic, now that I've seen it it's surprising more games haven't tried to nail that down. I hope I remember to add it to my wishlist when it posts as I'm sure it'll be too expensive for a day one buy.
Speaking of B-moive aesthetic, when's new next pinball tournament starting? You can use Creature from the Black Lagoon as the first table!

Destructoid thought it was pretty cool, though a bit short: http://www.destructoid.com/review-the-deadly-tower-of-monsters-334028.phtml

8/10

The Deadly Tower of Monsters is a fleeting experience, but one that no B-movie fan should go without. I have a few issues with the loot and upgrade systems (namely in that they feel superfluous), but as a straight action game, it mostly succeeds in what it sets out to do.

this guy gets it.

I will say though that I give a pass to dyed-in-the-wool music lovers when a legend dies. if bums wants to tell me about how David Bowie is the final word on music right now I would totally accept that, especially since he probably has a bunch of Bowie albums in his collection even if he's never mentioned it. But when Charlene who doesn't own a single CD/record but does own one Taylor Swift album on itunes posts a dozen David Bowie videos on facebook...

honestly probably not until I finish ffx-2. I leave my vita suspended in the middle of a long boss fight or something all the time so I wouldn't be in a position to run it. I also prefer to do it with a pinball arcade sale so people can pick up seasons they don't have and that probably won't be for a little while. pinball is terrific though.

Does NIS America usually wait until release day to send out pre-orders? I've got Atelier Escha & Logy Plus preordered. It ships today but their order status page is still showing Pending Verification. Not sure if this is normal for them or if they're having some issue with the order itself.

I fall in line with most of you on these celebrity deaths.

I'll be bummed to hear the news because I liked their work or it reminds me of a good memory listening to the music or watching whatever they did, but I'm not sad all day or distraught about it.

In the case of these musicians, if it's someone I really liked or respected I'll listen to their work all day, like last week when I listened to Bowie and today I'll listen to Eagles.

I empathize more when people get a little worked up about musicians because music can have such a lasting impact on someones life and help them through shit, so they feel a part of them is taken too, but at the end of the day, it's just a stranger.

Fair enough. I kinda wish they'd put seasons 3-5 on sale even though #notrophies because I wanna play more of those old tables I used to love at the bowling alley but can't justify $30 a pop for 10 tables, even if that is only $3 each.

I will never get why anyone would mourn someone they dont know for more than a minute.  It sucks when someone dies that you admired, but if they arent a friend of yours or a relative I will never get it.  They could be complete assholes that you would have hated had you known them.

Will you miss the music or movies that they might have made later?  Maybe.  But there are a shit ton of other talented people to take their place.
