I knew apartments in this area were kind of crazy and the prices from jimbo did not really shock me so I looked here.

ETA: I just realized all you cold weather location people probably hate me after clicking that link.
I haven't been to Atlanta other then the airport but have seen some of those house buying shows and got the impression some of the better burbs were about as pricey to buy in as Westchester (NYC burb). Makes sense their rent is pretty comparable. Too hot for me in Hotlanta though so I doubt I would ever want to move there (or down south). Seems like every time (like 6 times maybe) my flight is delayed in or out of there due to lighting.

Damn missed all the awd stuff, looks like some things popped up that were pretty good/cool.

Nothing I couldnt live without though so oh well.

Not sure exactly yet but new house will be in the neighborhood of 2600ish a month mortgage.

Makes my head spin just thinking about it.

Both Lords of the Fallen and DA:I are better to get the GOTY versions for anyway. DA:I especially. At ~$10 I would have recommended passing both up and waiting for the complete versions.

Considering those GOTY versions have the DLC on a code slip (ala Destiny: The Taken King's physical release), I'm fine with waiting for a digital sale on those add-ons.

Yikes. I barely bring home more than that each month. Of course the cost of living is much lower where I'm at, but still.

I finished Infamous 2 playthrough 1 with good karma last night. I'm hoping the 2nd one should be easier since I don't have to worry about doing everything and I can kill anything/everyone in my path as a mean dude.

Yeah it's crazy. The cost of living here is pretty damn cheap in comparison to most places. Of course we make a ton less due to that. The 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo I'm looking to move into would be less than $1000/month including utilities.

I'm buying into the hipster hype. The Witness really is a masterfully done puzzle game. Only a few hours in but the aha moments are frequent and awesome.

Even though I work from home, I think my ideal job would be one where I work a couple long days and then have a day or two off during the week. Like work 9-9 three days a week and then have a random day off.

Yeah, I would definitely prefer to work something like a cop or nurses hours where they work three 12 hour days and then have 4 days off or something like that.  I wouldnt want to do that kind of work, but those hours would be great.

I think four 10 hour days would be best though.  And have them broken up two at a time.  Wouldnt it be great to work Mon and Tues, take off Wed, work Thur and Friday and take off the weekend?  So fuck ing good.

Have the puzzles changed at all from "trace this line around the dots in this maze" or is it just all that?

Alpharetta is one of the more expensive burbs, but not the most expensive. For the most part, the areas north of the city along 400 start out super expensive and gradually get lower. Roswell is a bit of an exception and is cheaper than Alpharetta since it has been around a lot longer.

Dunwooody > Sandy Springs > Alpharetta > Roswell is pretty much how it goes. However, Alpharetta has quite a few subdivisions that are probably the most expensive of any of those areas. That is just due to there being land here where people could build large subdivsions for multi-million dollar houses. A lot of pro athletes live in the area. I do not know how many times I ran into John Smoltz when going to local Chinese place because it was right by the gym he goes to. A lot of professional wrestlers go to that same gym as well.

I used to do four 10 hour days when our son was first born to save on day care costs, but it was the Monday-Thursday variety. Still, it was nice having a three-day weekend every damn week.

Yeah Evil was really fast. Go ahead and do the player mission that grabs all the shards first thing and you'll be flying through the game.

Pretty sure Paul is right up there with Caniac as our two PSNOTs that are the closest to being hipsters.

My father in law is a firefighter and they work basically two 24 hour shifts a week. Obviously there's some down time in there, so it's not like they're on the job the whole time. But that means he gets most of the week off at home which is cool. I wouldn't want to do that job though, to stressful and physically demanding. I would much prefer paperwork and pushing pills.

You guys really cant compare mortgage payments though.  You have to compare home price and sq footage.  Kilik's $2600/month mortgage is for a pretty big house I would reckon.  But we also dont know the credit situation, rates, mortgage insurance, down payment etc.

Not that big, 2800 sqft, its a brand new subdivision though and its new so paying the new home tax with the price too. Literally the first house being built.

Vita battery update:

I plugged it in as soon as I got home to see the comforting glow of an orange home button.  Thought all was well when the button turned blue.  Left it plugged in overnight and woke up and it was dead again.  I re-plugged it back in while I was getting ready for work and it had enough power to show a red battery icon, but it was charging.

This may be because it couldn't hold a charge again even though plugged in, or my Vita charge cord (which is pretty ripped to shreds but still works mostly if you jiggle and place it right) stopped working causing the battery to drain back down.

tl;dr:  I think i'm fucked

Yeah, but point is, that same new 2800 foot house in NY would probably cost you double? And a LOT more if we are talking NYC.

And 2800 feet isnt small either. Supposedly the median size of an American home now is almost 2500 feet. So your house will be 12% bigger than more than half of American's homes.

But how is your charger cord "ripped to shreds"? Wtf happened?

I would get a new cord and/or charger before calling it fucked.

Apparently Insomniac's new game has a title (Song of the Deep), will release digitally on PS4/XB1/PC in Q2 of this year, and will be published by Gamestop (who will exclusively sell physical copies): http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/01/28/insomniac-and-gamestop-announce-publishing-partnership-with-song-of-the-deep

...WTF?

Also, tie-in merchandise:

Beyond just the physical disc, GameStop locations will sell tie-in toys, PopVinyls and other Song of the Deep merchandise. Additionally, Insomniac partnered with Sterling Publishing, whose parent company is Barnes & Noble, to create a chapter book that will be coming out at the same time as Song of the Deep and be targeted at children ages 8 to 12. The book will follow the story of Merryn's journey and elaborate on some of the game's [sic] to serve as a compliment to the title.

Zimm I have an extra vita 1000 ower brick/cable if you want em.
Yeah if you've got an extra I could certainly use it.

The current state of my cord:

I don't think the cord is necessarily the problem (I mean I know it sometimes doesn't charge but it's does still charge most of the time), but I'd rather try that fix before a declare the battery dead.

Thanks Pete! This will do in place of the pitcher of beer you owe me.

No, that's been it so far, but the method for solving those puzzles is constantly changing. Don't want to give many specific examples since it's really awesome when you first figure out a new puzzle "type", but sometimes you're controlling two lines, sometimes the path you create has to separate black and white squares, and sometimes you have to look at the environment behind/near the board to figure out the solution. I was worried the line-maze shtick would get old, but I don't see that being the case if they keep throwing curve balls like they have been so far. It's also really pretty. I've only found one little video so far hinting at what the story is supposed to be, but I'm intrigued.

I know it's not the same thing, but seem to be a several similarities between that and this.

I just don't get how it's getting all these perfect reviews if you're basically doing these mobile game puzzles in a pretty place for 40 hours. Even if the way you have to connect the lines changes. And I'm all for quirky indie games. Maybe it's one of those "you have to play it to get the praise" games, but right now I don't get the the praise.
