PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

When you guys are contemplating which disgusting Taco Bell menu item you're eating for lunch today, I'll be sitting in my reserved seat watching Deadpool with some buddies while a server brings me a burger, fries, beer and an ice cream sundae.

Presidents' Day rules.

Had a mini-freak out when I couldn't get my PS4 out of rest mode this morning. I pushed the PS button in the DS4 and the light bar came on, but orange rest mode light continued. Tried holding down the power button on the machine but still nothing. Finally had to unplug it and it started back up.

I was only downloading some games and updates when I originally put it in rest mode. Decided to just to a full power off while I'm at work today.

Where's the game report? Don't be a slacker!
Nobody cares about fighting games. It's fun though. Pretty loose with combos (meaning you can chain together most anything it feels like) and some fun/weird characters. Pretty standard issue japanese fighting game with a super dumb name. Trophies are pretty easy except the survival one but I happened to get in a good rhythm using the cheater method today (spam qcf+box w/ Hilda). It's definitely worth a few bucks if you like fighting games and definitely a lot better than dengeki bunko (in my opinion).

Yeah, I started off by looking at that and then got enthralled with the gamefaqs thread on the subject. My problem is that I'm missing more of the basics - some people say that you should avoid fighting almost entirely and only level up with loot and some say you should maintain a ranged ds and just plug away at everything from a distance. My problem is I'd get to floor 6 or so and those dragons that can shoot fire in a 4x4 grid will just start lighting me up. That and of course getting the right drops. Then when I get to 10 I think the unlock condition is to defeat 10 enemies which just pummels away at my remaining hp - I don't have enough healing items to sustain or if I manage to get white mage by that point I don't have enough mp/ether to keep healing going.

Like I said, I think I just don't get it.

Rest mode used to have some issues, It will still hang on occasion for me but not very often.

Welcome to the club! It really seems like there's always a few kinks with rest mode in the beginning and then it works itself out. Don't sweat it.

Thanks for the calming words on rest mode.

I tried remote play for a piece this morning and it was pretty laggy off and on. What was the preferred set-up for that?

Also wasn't Pinball Arcade and all the table packs cross-buy with PS4?

remote play works better for me going the non direct route. On the ps4 make sure you dont have direct connect selected and just do it over your wifi.

If you have a pstv, make sure you do it wired if at all possible, when wired its damn near lag free for me.

Hope y'all had a good weekend. Deadpool was fun, felt like more of how comic book movies used to be. Lots of fun with less unnecessary drama and time wasting call to actions. Best buy was even nice enough to put all the lego dimensions level and team packs on sale, so I got my vday gifts on the cheap.

Got my Steins;Gate plat yesterday, had to replay half of it because I missed a single scene and couldn't figure out which one it was. That kind of sucked. Thankfully the game doesn't take to long if you're using all the skips.

Yeah that was my setup. Wifi for PS4. No direct connect. I was on a different floor from my PS4 so that may have had something to do with it.

Yea, only takes an hour or so to plat it from start to finish.

Oh, you're gonna want to wire the ps4 if you can.

If not, then you might wanna direct connect to the ps4 and see if that works better.

I can probably take the wired connection for my PS3 and use that. Otherwise I'm sure a long ass cord wouldn't cost too much.

My favorite moment in Watch Dogs so far has definitely been the first online hack I did. I hacked the guy and then got in a car and hid. I could see him running around like crazy trying to find me while I was slouched down in the seat. fuck him. I won.
The hacking and tracing modes were pretty dope. No idea why they made it so that you can play those with a friend though. Doesn't make sense.

No Vita mention. Not a surprise since BL, Minecraft, and GoT were all missing on that system.
They are still listed a lot of places as coming to vita, but who knows if will happen or not.

I liked playing the ones that were on vita on it better than on a console.

I never played one of them on the Vita but after seeing the bizarre framerate issues even on PS4 I'd expect the Vita versions to be pretty rough.

Some slowdown for sure at times, mostly when auto saving which is the same as consoles, but i liked using the touch controls vs having to use the right stick to move the thing around the screen.

Assuming you are still planning to play the PS3, I would spend a few bucks for an ethernet switch and keep them both plugged in. I have an extra I would let you have, but the shipping would likely be more than the $8 I paid for it to begin with.

Play as Yuna and dig four times a level. Keep stockpiling stuff. It also sounds like you need to go back to the start and replay some levels until you're strong enough to tackle level 10. You don't have to go straight through. It's like an old-school Rogue or Wizardry kind of game where you get your ass kicked at the start and have to play cautious, but soon enough you breeze through everything.

At least when I played, the hacking didn't let you play with friends. Did they change that? I think the tracing allowed it at the time, but I do not even remember how the tracing stuff worked.

He really doesn't have a need for a gigabit one. Looking at monoprice which is where I got my 10/100 ones for $8, they do not even seem to carry anything but gigabit ones now and they are all close to $20.

Looks like Amazon has a few options for around $10 though.

Do I need one of those switches if I can just spool an ethernet cord through my ceiling from my router to my PS4?  That's what I'm doing for my PS3 right now.  Shouldn't be a big effort to do another one and I imagine a long cord would be cheaper.

I agree he doesn't need gigabit. I just find some of the really cheap junk is a bit buggy. Have had good results with Netgear and Dlink for inexpensive switches like this.

Maybe split the difference? 10/100 Netgear 5 port $20

Under $10 if you bother with the rebate and actually get it.

Nope, will work same as ps3.

Nope that will work too. I am just lazy.

This, with the caveat that you will need to have a spare port on your router of course.

Also though, many times store charges boat loads for pre-made ethernet cables of any significant length. So a $10 cheap switch and a couple of short cables in an Amazon order might actually be less and will definitely be less of a cable mess.

Welp, can't get the store to load for me so I can make some last-minute flash sale decisions. Oh well, guess it's a sign I shouldn't buy anything else.

Just took a last look. Only thing I was tempted by was Jurassic World Vita at $8. The physical prices get down around that price pretty quickly, though, so no reason to jump in. Ended up not buying anything--wasn't feeling the love with this flash sale (tee hee.)

Also make sure it has snag free ends. Fishing it through the wall or ceiling it is easy to break off the little plastic tab thing. I hate crimping those little damn RJ-45 ends and try to avoid doing.

Not something like this http://www.amazon.com/GadKo-Cat5e-Orange-Ethernet-Bootless/dp/B00DRQNPWE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1455548716&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=25+foot+ethernet&psc=1

Get a cable like this. The ends are a PIA sometimes but tend not to break as easy.

Grabbed Payday 2 from the flash sale. Hit me up when you guys want to play, I'm home all day. Decided to pass on Divinity. I figure by the time I get around to it a physical copy will be a similar price.

I can stream a little later if anybodys stuck at work too.

You're off all day and the first thing you decide to play is Taco Master?

Good thing I read the thread before I took off this morning. Forgot to grab payday 2 on my way out. Grabbed payday, jackbox 2, and tmnt from the sale. No Godzilla when I got to gamestop this morning, so I settled for sunset overdrive.

This may be the most liked post in PSNOT history--30 as of this post. I didn't think we even had that many people in here.

Other than Owl is anybody else still stuck in the dark ages?
Me, if I count.

I honestly don't turn on my PS3 more than twice a month anyway. I'm strictly handheld. I keep telling myself I'll get back to playing on the console, but I don't see it happening.

So my only purchases ended up being the two heavy fire games.

Those that played them, are they as bad as reviews say? I'm not expecting much from an on-rails shooter but some mindless fun and they seem to fit the bill.

Yeah they patched it later because trophy whiners complained you couldnt boost the trophies and because the drinking game was too hard.
