PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

The layoffs (at least this round and I hope it is the only one) is done and I still have a job.  I will not be working for the same boss or doing the same thing as I was, but I do at least still have a job.

It has been a pretty shitty day even though I am very happy to still have a job.  Six people I know well as well as a couple others from this building that I do not know that well were affected.  One of them I referred to the job and she referred another mutual friend and they both got laid off.

Glad you survived this round and hope you survive all the rounds. Good luck with your new job responsibilities. I went thought this many years ago at a job I didn't care about and survived. Till they were in the process of moving and I was like I need to GTO.

Seems like you have some real skills though so I am sure you will end up ok no matter what. Looking for work sucks either way though.

glad to hear you still have a job but I'm sure it sucks. living in the home of Sprint I have a few friends (and a wife) that have gone through rounds and rounds of that russian roulette and it ain't fun.

Glad to hear you survived. Those mass layoff days are no fun at all for anyone though. Such a pall of sadness over everything. Here's to better days ahead.

Have any of you heard of Bit Brigade? They played at MAGFest and it was awesome. They play music while one of them speed runs a game. In this case it was Ninja Gaiden. They play to the game, so scene changes resulted in music changes, and of course boss battles. The crowd was awesome and cheered and yelled. Fun stuff.

Website is out of date, though. Doesn't show anything past 2/1/16.

Finished the normal mode of Flying Hamster HD and grabbed pretty much all the trophies I think I am going to be able to get without considerable effort. Decided to see what hard mode is like and got 3/5ths of the way through before I ran out of credits and got a game over. It seems like they tripled the boss HP to turn that part into a horrible slog so fuck hard mode. Decent enough side-scrolling shooter but I didn't really like the weapon system.

You can press a button for semi-auto fire, or hold that button down to fire a charge shot. Then there is another button which you can hold down for auto-fire. So far so good. Rather than just switch your weapon type when you grab a pick-up, it changes your weapon type BUT only gives you limited ammo. Once that ammo runs out fairly quickly you are back to using your pea shooter. There's also no way to use your peashooters instead of your pick-up weapon to conserve ammo for latter use. Some of the findable weapon charge shots are useless or don't do more damage then just holding auto fire.

One pretty big annoyance is when hit while holding down the charge shot button, you lose your current charge. That in itself wouldn't be that bad, but rather than depleting it back to zero and then immediately beginning to recharge it, if you are already holding down the button, you have to release the charge up button and press it down again. When the time frame to power up and fire off a charged shot has a pretty small window in later bosses, that's precious seconds lost each time you are hit.

The trophy list is really tough, beat hard mode without dying (3 hits kill you). It cost me $0.49 which is fair for an afternoon diversion, I definitely wouldn't pay more than $1 for it though.

I saw Cainiac's trophy card once, you guys would be surprised at all his platinums. He has over 200 but doesn't care to share it publicly.

I'm not caught up on the thread, but in case anyone in wondering, I went to target and was able to price match Far Cry 4 Complete to best buy's $30 price.  Then I got it and AC Chronicles and some sweet cartwheel discounted easter candy for $35 total.

Who is cainiac hiding from? Is there some super secret service video game nerd forum gangster mafia corporate organization that I don't know about that he used to be a part of and now is running from? Are they trying to kill him? Or just give him likes for all his tropheez?

Regarding NPR, I sometimes listen to 90.7 WFUV out of Fordham University as they play some good adult alternative music and expose me to music I'd likely never hear of otherwise.  They're a NPR affiliate but they don't do the usual NPR format.  http://www.wfuv.org/on-air

Yikes, you're not oil industry, are you? I forget. Sending good thoughts your way.

We had the whole layoff thing in my company from about 2009-2011. It was brutal. That's about the time I decided I was going to stash every extra cent and try to be financially independent ASAP. I don't ever want to have to put up with a work environment like that again.

I'm looking at the start of igns 90 best 90s animated characters. I never knew Steven colbert and steve Carell did the voices for the ambiguously gay duo.

fuck it. They'll probably produce more than enough copies of that Far Cry Primal Steelbook edition that I can get it way later for cheap anyway.

Looks like we're going to successfully defeat this region and move onto the bug homeworld after in Helldivers. Anyone down to play?

Is that one of the ones that gives you trophies? So many events!

I can maybe hop in in 10-15.
Once we capture this zone we'll move into the bug homeworld. I believe completing a planet there during a successful campaign gets you a trophy.

Yo Cleaner,

I'm hopping on Helldivers now if you wanna party up
K join my hub. Gonna grab a drink then I'll be ready again.

3 event trophies.

1.)Complete a planet during a war that succeeds.

That means complete all the missions on a planet that you get a reward. Then if all 3 enemy homeworlds are defeated then the war is won, and you get a trophy.

2.)Complete a mission on an enemy home planet in a assault that is successful.

Once all the sectors are conquered vs a certain race, a 48 hour assault on that race's homeworld will begin, fill up the bar faster than the enemy to defeat them. If you did a mission during that assault you get a trophy.

3.)Complete a mission in planetary defense event

2 ways to get this.

A.)If an assault on an enemy homeworld fails then you fall back to the previous sector and they attack the homeworld of that sector. You have 3 hours to fight them off, if you fail they move on to the next sector and the 3 hour countdown begins again.

B.)If the enemy drives you back all the way to Super Earth a 48 hour defend event begins.

Complete a capitol city defense mission during a successful defense event to get a trophy.

If the Super Earth defense fails, then the war is lost.

So basically any time you see a countdown when in your ship / you see a double XP mission, that is tied to an event which gets you a trophy.
