PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

on paper it's easy, but currently I'm juggling three guides just to find the right combination of things to do. it's definitely easier than vanquish, but there's absolutely nothing that's straightforward about it and so far pretty much every guide sucks. at one point the ign guide just stops. it's like someone was typing up the guide and passed out dead mid-sentence.
How does a 15 year old adventure game not have a good guide available? That doesn't seem possible in this day and age.

PSNP's trophy guide looked simple enough to me: http://psnprofiles.com/guide/2715-Grim-Fandango-Remastered-Trophy-Guide

I've never been particularly interested in the game but had considered a run through it before finding out about this. I knew the Vita version was the wrong version to play because of a shitty trophy thing there. Losing a trophy because you accidentally touched the touchscreen at some point would be absolutely infuriating.

yeah, at some point in chapter two I hit the touchscreen and hadn't saved in a long time so I'm just going with it and hoping for the best. there's some people that claim that they used the touchscreen all the time and it had no impact so I guess we'll see.

Assuming we like how this one tastes, this will be the main one we are drinking tonight.

My friend and I decided if we both survived the layoff and if it was around that we would spring for a growler of it since it costs $43.  That sounds super expensive until you realize that it is essentially the same as 3-22oz bottles and we regularly pay in the $20 range for those.

Ornstein & Smough are finally dead, thanks to some help from Solaire and a few Humanities to power up my Furysword. I'm glad that's over with.

I know this is crazy talk, but maybe the problem is that you're using a guide with an adventure game. If you take away the one thing what makes it a game it's just going to be a chore isn't it?

This is actually a good example: http://psnprofiles.com/trophy/3304-Grim-Fandango-Remastered/31-Oh-Rusty-Anchor

The psnp guide says 'give him this piece of paper' but you have to basically circumnavigate the globe 10 times to get the paper and you need a separate guide to get through all the adventure game logic on what items are used where to lead to the coat. BUT the guides for the game will tell you to give the vip pass to glottis right away which makes the trophy unobtainable. So you can't follow a guide for the game completely, you have to jump around to try and figure out the pieces you need without accidentally triggering something that janks the trophies.

I've been playing on normal the whole time. It's not bad at all. Yeah, Esther was shit at the beginning, but I'd just let her die, because fuck her. She survives more now that Swaine the hobo is on board, but since she uses all her MP in the first 3 seconds of battle anyway, I just let her stay dead when she dies lol. Got easier to just try and keep a familiar with heals on Oli or Swaine during the dungeons.
Maybe I put too much unnecessary effort into keeping her alive then. I just try to keep everyone alive so I don't get caught with my pants down and get hit with something that kills the remaining party members and have to do the fight all over again. The grind is long enough without all that shit. I'm already at 58.5 hours and I'm pretty certain I have at least 25 more hours, probably more til plat.

I'm pretty sure using the guide isn't what makes him walk slower than the slowest thing that has ever slowed but I'll check tonight. Other than that I'm rather enjoying the game/story.

Helldivers pros:

Did they change the requirements for the "complete a level 7+ mission" without taking damage? I did a level 10 using the mech and I never took any damage outside of the mech but the trophy still didn't pop.
They might have, or you might have accidentally stepped on yourself when getting out of mech at the end. I could never get it to work with the mech so I did it at the same time I did my stealth run. You also have to be with the mission at the start for it to count.

Which guides are you using besides IGN's? Now I'm considering playing through this between both Dark Souls...es.

That sounds awesome. I really need to get back to the package store soon. I found another in close proximity that seems to have a bigger selection of Dogfish head stuff, will probably make it my next stop.

Maybe? I guess I'll run it again at some point. I dont even know how I would do the stealth run yet either since I don't have the distract beacon. Gotta get that unlocked.

http://www.grimfandango.net/game-info/walkthrough (short and to the point but has some errors)

http://www.ign.com/wikis/grim-fandango/Walkthrough (until it abruptly ends)

http://psnprofiles.com/guide/2715-Grim-Fandango-Remastered-Trophy-Guide (for trophy order - pst.org has a good checklist for the rusty anchor trophy)

there's also a gamefaqs guide that I started looking at last night but I don't have the link handy

I love the Clown Shoes brand and most of the beers I've had from them. I always see those big 22oz bottles and get tempted, but haven't pulled the trigger on one yet. Maybe this weekend...

Uh, no. Classic adventure games are obtuse as fuck with the most bizarre, ridiculous requirements to advance possible. Without a guide you just get stuck not knowing what to do.

Which is why I never finished an adventure game as a kid. I am still unsure how anyone finished those games. It is in fact impossible without insider knowledge/guides of the puzzles.

I always have multiple saves on rpgs. You never know when you'll be trapped in a location(without a guide anyway), sell a crucial item, miss a crucial item(like how I missed Barret's ultimate weapon in 7), ect, ect.

Don't know if anyone was paying that much attention in my stream, but I had 6-7 saves for ff7.

I try to keep my main 2 saves an hour apart or so, with one being in a town. Then make a new one every few hours.

Don't know if you guys remember Moon Hunters. It's a pixeltastic 1-4 player co-op RPG. There was a blog post back in 2014 saying it was coming to PS4/PSV last year. Well now they're saying this year. We'll see.

Looks great. Glad to see it still exists.

I think I finished one of the King's Quest games on my own back in the day.  Like V maybe?  or IV?  One of those two.  And maybe that Black Cauldron one too.

it didn't click with me what it was when tyler mentioned ironcast. stumbled on it this morning, and i really want to buy it. 20% plus discount atm too. vita version would have been an instant buy.
Everything seems great except the permadeath part for me. I need to play a lot more and still get better, but the permadeath kinda sucks in this one. My mind may change over the weekend tho.

Hey Gator - have you ever had Flying Dog's "The Truth" imperial IPA? I like it a lot.
Nope. I do not know why it happened but instead of expanding distribution like most breweries have recently, Flying Dog actually contracted. If you look at seekabrew, they have GA listed for them. That was true at one point, but they haven't been here in a long time. Looking at the Flying Dog site it looks like now the closest they make it to us is North Carolina.

Also Shadow of Mordor is pretty damn fun.  I'm only 3 main missions in, but enjoying the combat and how damn pretty it looks.  All this mega orc leveling showcase showdown stuff they show after you die is a little confusing, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it pretty quick.  I keep forgetting I have a bow & arrow too.

Can't wait to dive more into it this weekend.

Opened a new tab and I'm stuck on the front page! Help!
Hey guys! Therm figured out how to post in here from the front page! And now he's going to share that knowledge with the rest of us!

Go ahead Therm! The floor is yours! Excitement!

edit: yeah, ok... front page =/= home page... i get it...time to go to bed.... fuck all of you

It's possible to do it without the distractor beacon, but it's really fuck ing hard apparently, it's hard enough with the beacon. I wouldn't even try it until you have stratagem priority perk (or cardio) and have maxed out distract beacon. The UAV helps a great deal too if you have that DLC.

It's a reward for a low level mission so perhaps you went to high level missions too fast or leveled up quick on double XP missions (which don't have unlocks as rewards) and missed it. If it's not available on the lower level planets as a reward on your galactic map in the cyborg region, try changing your filter to only show easy cyborg missions in multiplayer and then look for this on the reward screen.

If you can't find it there go offline and you should have some different mission options.

I have fond memories of going grocery shopping with my mother and then sneaking away to go to the bookstore next door to read hints for king's quest 4.

I finished the plat last night. I only had two trophies left (use a warchief's fear and get a level 25 rune). I figured it would take some time to get a warchief up to level 20, but luckily there already was one. He had already killed me before, plus he was afraid of fire, so I nailed him with a fire arrow and killed him. He dropped the 25 rune and all 3 trophies popped. The whole thing took maybe 5 minutes, which wasn't the grind I was expecting.

Yeah I'll take a look for it tonight. I haven't done a lot of the actual planet missions as I usually just play during events. I have the stratagem perk already though so that will be useful.
