PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

I didn't have any big problems with slow down but the load times were garbage. I've seen PS2 games load faster than that! Sounds like they made it even worse somehow.
Especially the initial startup from the title screen--nearly 1-2 minutes every time.

I got over the load times pretty quickly. I think Wren explained it pretty well sometime around launch: The initial load time is absolute shit, but afterwards you never really saw any load screens. You could go across the entire map without running into one. Only times the game ever really had to load was going into challenges, most of which loaded fine, and if you died. There was definitely some hang up going into certain wingsuit challenges, and if you died during challenges, but otherwise the loads weren't bad.

My perception of them may be skewed though, I'm sure it's more annoying if you're only playing the game, but I play right next to my computer all the time, so in whatever game I'm playing I'm on the internet any time it loads.

You must have gotten lucky then as it seemed like any time I died or restarted a challenge it took forever to load.

Don't get me wrong it's still in my backlog and I'm sure I'll get back to it but even at $30 (got it in the BB glitch) it's still hard to justify that price point.

This isnt a valid complaint since there are many games that do this at startup and all GTA games do it. Of course Rockstar works hard to keep load times to near 0 once the game starts and thats where Just Cause wasnt up to snuff. But overall most load times were quick. It was just those one or two that everyone got hung up on.

It just boils down to the type of game you want and like to play. I can deal with some slow down and load times on a game that has lots of action, but fuck games like Sam and Max that have no excuse for any of that.

I don't think Jesse is a good actor, nor can I stand him. I'm most concerned about the stupid
doomsday
shit shoehorned in, but I guess I'll find out this weekend.
I wasn't always the biggest fan of his, but his quirks work well in this roll.

And for what it's worth, the thing you mention didn't feel shoehorned in to me.

Yeah, wren and sage are of course right. even with the brand new unbelievable lag the game is still fun as hell. the load times don't seem any better, but just don't die and don't do challenges and you'll never see them. problem solved!

Anyway, I've been the Arkham Knight DLC the past few days and $16 for everything wasn't too bad but no way is it worth anywhere near full price? A lot of the extra missions are way too damn short.

That's disappointing. It was fun when I played it, felt like most of the people doing a lot of the complaining hadn't even spent more than an hour with the game. Guess people should have been happy with their long load times and occasional crashes instead of asking them to "fix" it lmao.
I played the main story to completion but found the load times pretty horrible. I will probably pick it up again for cheap if they ever get it straightened out. Doesn't sound like they will. I don't remember JC2 being that slow to load on PS3. Fun game but it has issues apparently even now. Makes me wonder if they will ever fix it.

fuck that game looks pretty. And looks fun to play too. Like a spiritual successor to Actraiser, but without all the stupid Simcity shit.

#teamPixels
I actually liked both parts of Actraiser. I never did play the second since they took the sim aspect out--how was it? I'd assume you liked that one more.

Actually I don't think I ever played the second one.

It was fine in spurts, but I thought the side-scrolling action was waaaaaaaaay more fun. I just wanted those Simcity levels to get over with so I could get back to swording monsters. Should have been way less frequent simming.

And Im pretty sure more people care about the great Just Cause debate than the random EU links and games that Therm posts 20 times a day.

Look for other 3rd party sellers selling the item new on amazon, but that are still fulfilled by amazon (so you can get free shipping with $X dollars / prime). Often times they are within a few cents of amazon's price and if they aren't located in your state they won't charge you sales tax.
That explains why I wasn't charged tax on my Vita Slim. I will be sure to report it on my taxes next year though. I actually calculated what it would have cost with tax and it was still about $20 savings over GameStop. Plus I would have to drive like 20 mins out of my way to go to one that supposedly had low stock on the Black one. Or order it from Gamestop online. Figured might as well save $20 and order it on Amazon. Ended up saving $31.

The Slim is much lighter and thinner. Does seem slightly less sturdy but the weight is much nicer. Haven't really played anything on it yet but have it all setup. I even charged it up last night using my cell phone charger. It sort of fits in the case I have. Probably make due with it for a while. If I don't put it under the straps it doesn't get wedged in the case. If I push it firmly in the case it is a bit of a PIA to get out of the case.

No AI cards in the box.

Brought it to work added it to the Wifi. Also registered on our work account so I can use Optimum/Comcast hotspots in the area if I need to. Although I usually just hot spot off my phone when I need to do that.

You're probably right. But the debate goes the same way every time. We have apologists for the load times, and people who think they're inexcusable. Same exact convo each and every time it's brought up.

But I'm sick and in an extra bad mood and everything is bothering me right now so don't mind me.

I ended up surfing on my phone and reading forums. Not very immersive. Like you said it is mostly around dying. Not a big fan of most challenges. No way in hell am I going to even try if every time I die it is 1 or 2 mins before it lets me play again. I did a few challenges but really just stayed away from them mostly.

JC2 loaded better and played better from what I remember. Sure not nearly as pretty but just was fun and ran well from what I remember.

I get it. If other people in here would try to be the least bit entertaining I wouldnt bore everyone with the same shit all the time.

Im like a child, I need to be entertained.

And yeah JC 2 ran great which was even more of a reason to be down on Just Cause 3.

I will say this if only to extend the debate and piss sick frontlog off even more - you guys have some rose colored glasses with JC2. I really wish I'd played it before JC3 because in comparison it plays like sluggish frustrating garbage. not to mention how much less forgiving it is with deaths (and it also has a really long load screen after dying, but not quite as long as JC3). The main thing JC2 has that 3 doesn't is environment variety - JC3 looks very same-ish for a lot of the game it seems.

Is there any reason to go back to JC2 after playing JC3? I was an impatient ass and bought/played JC3 right away even though I had JC2 in the backlog.

totally burned out on layer 21 again this morning but I was definitely more on point and inspired after mpaullin and sage's achievements.  I think my score was nearly double what it normally is.

I also had three delicious rage quits in SF5 this morning so I must be getting better.  But I still suck.  Where's my March udpate???

I liked JC2, but it wasn't nearly as good as I was expecting based on conversations here. Maybe the PSNOT hype had my expectations too high or something, I don't know.

Well'p looks like there's my answer. Should have refreshed the page lol.

If its any consolation, my being able to get past level 25 in infinity mode has not translated well to getting S+ on the regular levels. I think I'm stuck on 2-3 or something lol.

I'd bet wren, gator and vig would all say yes. they would be wrong though.
I have not played JC3 yet, but from watching streams of others I would say no. I loved JC2 when I played it. However, it was easy to tell with watching 3 that is a much faster paced game. I actually hated JC2 at first because of the slow plodding nature of the game and I was dying a ton until I finally got used to the tether and parachute controls. If you are already used to the newer faster JC3, I could see it being jarring trying to go back to JC2.

Launch trailer for that awesomely-animated game Slain:

Weird that it's coming out today and he doesn't list which platforms other than steam (maybe that's the only one that is ready). Kickstarter page says it's supposed to be for PS4 and vita too at some point.

I spent a good chunk of yesterday trying to S+ the stage 4 boss. Shit is annoying as it seems like you have to time use of your secondary weapon perfectly in order to beat some of the phases fast enough. Even then it feels like you need to get lucky with your power ups. I keep telling myself I'm gonna take a break from the game but it's just not happening.

You guys have me so wrong on this one.  JC2 hasnt aged well.  A lot of action games dont.  Look at Stotch and Uncharted.  I tried playing JC2 a bit before JC3 came out and it wasnt nearly as nice to look at as I remembered and was slow like Mild said.

I played JC2 when it released and at the time there was nothing like it and based on PS3 hardware it ran fine.  Yeah it had load times but not in game.  And the frame rate might have been lower than 30fps I guess but it was consistent.

Once I played JC3 I knew JC2 would be terrible by comparison, even with the framerate and load issues.  Its much prettier and faster.

TLDR:  I always tell you guys to play game series in order and JC2 is another prime example why.
