PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

Am I wrong in thinking that any NBA player who took 50 shots should score at least 60 points? I am not seeing how big of an accomplishment this is other than his old ass actually being able to play enough minutes to hoist up 50 shots.
So I decided to look up some actual numbers. For the league year there have been an average of 22.1% of shots being 3 pointers (24.1 per game for 3 versus 84.6 per game for 2). Applying those numbers to 50 shots would mean the average of the NBA for 50 shots would be 11.05 3 pointers and 38.95 2 pointers. Averages for those are respectively 45.2% and 35.4% for the year. So that would be an average of 11.7 points from 3 pointers and 35.2 points from 2 pointers. So the league average points per 50 shots based on league wide shot distribution would be 46.9 points. That does not factor in for any free throws which kilik already pointed out he made 10 of. Add that to the average and you would get 56.9 points.

So maybe I should change my stance to any NBA player who is decent at free throws should get 60 points if they shot 50 times.

I curse a lot here and in real life, but there's something about that p word that felt insanely vulgar when I wrote it.  definitely not a word in my day to day vocabulary.

I thought it was great to see Kobe go out like, well like, Kobe fucking Bryant. Perfect send off for dude. Don't hate.
The point is he didnt go out like Kobe Bryant. He went out like an old man who was allowed to take as many shots as he wanted without much defense.

Dont get me wrong, Kobe was still great and it was still nice to hear he had a "good" game. but lets get real here. He didnt really score 60 points because he "went off". He did it cause no one tried stopping him.

Kobe has ALWAYS taken tons of shots though, that's the point lol. He went out like I imagined he would, scoring a ton of points on a high volume of shots. Personally I'm not a huge fan of his but it was awesome to see him go out like that, it was an awesome end to his career. I don't give a fuck about the fact that the Jazz weren't trying their best, I liked that Kobe was in his last fucking NBA game we'll ever see with him! Sorry but it was downright special last night to me.

I do not hate Kobe. I just put him in the same boat as Carmello Anthony. I do not understand how volume shooters who essentially make the league average in FG percentages are celebrated as much as they are. Yeah they score points, but the math shows if you spread out those shots around all the players you would likely get just as many.

I sent in my unused PSTV bundle to Amazon (kept the DS3 of course) and it got accepted at $40. Since I paid $50 for the bundle it works out to a $10 DS3!

How can Kobe be in the same boat as Carmelo other than taking a lot of shots? Kobe is a 5x champ and was a great defender. Carmelo isn't in the same realm as Kobe in any capacity.

Yea I don't know why everyone is dumbing Kobe down so much. He's one of the greats from every aspect of the game, and had a great send off. But, how about the Warriors and breaking the Bulls win record? That also makes me feel old as i sure remember watching that Bulls season.

Seeing as to how that was the only comparison of the two I made, none. I am not saying they are the same player, but the main part of their game is the same: Volume shooting.

I do not disagree with this. Carmelo has never had the surrounding cast advantages that Kobe had during any of those title runs. With that said, it would not have likely made any difference since Kobe has an incredible drive that Carmelo does not possess. His only drive has seemed to be maximizing his salary, NTTIAWWT.

Check out this completely asinine way that the NBA playoff seeds are set up:

East:

1 vs 8

2 vs 7

3 vs 6

4 vs 5

West:

1 vs 8

2 vs 7

3 vs 6

4 vs 5

Ridiculous! It's like all they care about is which team played better this season! They don't even care about what place a team finished in their division or anything!

It's ok to admit you don't like Kobe. I don't like him and don't think he's nearly as good as others do. fuck Kobe Bryant and the Lakers.
I've NEVER liked Kobe but he's damn sure one of the greatest players to ever dribble and shoot a basketball in the history of the world, anybody who says otherwise doesn't know the game in any way, shape, or form! I hated his guts for many years but when you love the game you have to respect what that man has meant to it!
