PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

Seriously fuck this heavily armored dude and machine gun with his Hammer launcher buddy on the rocking cargo boat.

But fuck my Wifi even more for not letting me continue to stream my ineptitude.

Best way is to headshot the hammer guy, grab his gun and unload on the big dude.
That's what I'm doing. But I either can't get enough time to grab the Hammer or can't get enough shots to big dude to take him down before his buddy's gang bang me with bullets.

Or the the hammer fucker doesn't drop it to the lower level for me to grab.

Do any of you guys just refuse to get up and go pee out of sheer laziness and/or defiance of your body? sometimes I wait so long I get a sharp pain in my side/back.
I only hold my pee in when I am sleeping and dont want to get up. or the alarm goes off and i still dont want to get up.
I would assume guys can get Urinary Tract Infections. If so, y'all are playing a dangerous game. I've had one once and it was when I woke up an hour before my alarm and I had to pee but was too lazy to get up. I went back to sleep and when I woke up I could already feel something was wrong. UTIs are painful and uncomfortable. Avoid at all costs!

I managed to get a copy of UC4 premium today. First I wanna replay the first 3 games so I'm installing the Uncharted Collection. It said it'd take 3 hours to download the initial file but then it updated to 10 minutes. I was all excited and then a 2nd download of 42 GB started. That one will actually take about 3 hours.

Last week I did a wired connection for the Internet and I pay for 100 Mbps. The PS4 connection test said I was getting 93 or 97 Mbps download speeds. Pretty awesome!

Finishing up chapter 10 in uncharted and I have about 120 checkpoint restarts. I am not good at this game.
You are going to hate Chapter 20 on Crushing (assuming you went with that for your first run like me); that garbage is probably the most unfair segment in the entire series.

At least I don't have to worry about the 1000-kill trophy now.

Played a couple chapters of Doom. Pretty fun run and gun stuff. I am terrible at finding secrets. Only found one out of eight on the second chapter.

Upgrade your suit radar thing immediately. 3 points into that and you'll see every upgrade/item on the map right from the beginning. The only thing that won't show is the lever that triggers the classic level. Since most secret areas have an item in it, doing that upgrade will make it easy to find most of the secrets.

Just a heads-up; Doom chapter 9's challenges are glitchy, at least in Chapter Select mode. I only got 1/3 during the campaign run, then went back to do the other two in chapter select. Did the second one, exited out, and the second was no longer marked complete. Went back in, did the two remaining, exited out... 1 and 2 stayed complete, but 3 went to incomplete again.

Found a post on the Bethesda forum describing the same thing. That guy played through to the end of the chapter rather than exiting and it still didn't make a difference.

So; if you're trying for the challenge completion trophy, try doing all three during your initial run and maybe that will work better. I'm going to do all the other challenges in the game and then go back to chapter 9 and hopefully that trophy will trip mid-map once I meet the requirements, even if it doesn't save properly afterwards.

Therm has it right. I found nost of the secrets on my own once upgraded. I just look up the lever on a video before finishing the level.

Really fun but I still like wolfenstein and shadow warrior better. Killing Nazis is so satisfying and the story with it is pretty good. I actually paid attention to it. Shadow warrior adds the funny quips and sword which make it better.

Still this doom is well put together and I enjoy trying to find the secrets with a little help from the radar.

I also appreciate the devs for not making a stupid trophy for getting to level 50 or some shit in mp. It only took about a half hour and three or four matches before i was level 5 and won a match.

Thank God we won one though. My team got killed in the other matches.

Yes cro cause I suck.

Thinking about trophies for the
win!

I am really bored right now as I came into the office to meet an executive otherwise I wouldn't be hear right now. Just waiting for my appt with him at 9 and then I get to go back home to try and finish doom.

Took me about 5 games to hit level 5 and get a win in TDM.

Be aware that later maps have a number of one-way doors and such. You might want to watch the video first to figure out where the lever is in order to make sure you hit it before you can't go back.

I haven't played Wolfenstein, Old Blood, or Shadow Warrior. Doom is definitely getting me in the mood for those, though. I'll probably hit those fairly soonish as well.

It took like 5-10 minutes to get a match, but once I was in one it ran very well. Slight lag starting out but that disappeared quickly. Took me 4 games to hit level 5, but I was on the winning team for 3 of them, so that helped.

Doom's trophy list is very good IMO. Well-rounded, makes you do a lot of the game mechanics, but there's nothing I'd consider particularly grindy.

Destructoid didn't like Shadwen: http://www.destructoid.com/review-shadwen-361574.phtml

4/10

I’m really disappointed in Shadwen and certainly wouldn’t recommend it, but it’s still difficult for me to write it off completely. If you can get through the wonky controls, the pants AI, and the visual stylings that are just a blur of identical guards and barrels, and the endless escort mission featuring the most annoying little girl ever, there are small glimmers of a good game shining out from the cracks.

The few times the game opens up to let the player make use of their high level of mobility are incredibly memorable, and the world building makes it feel like we’re only scratching the surface of this world. That’s not enough to make me recommend it, of course, but they do make Shadwen’s shortcomings all the more painful.

Talk about wasted potential…

Finished up Uncharted 4 yesterday. I'm comfortable calling it the best in the series, or at least solidly tied with 2. It had the best story of all of them, wasn't mind blowing or anything. Random thoughts/complaints:

  • The whole Avery pirate sanctuary story was great. Liked all the twists involved with it and was probably my favorite MacGuffin of the series.
  • I liked that they played it all straight and there wasn't some supernatural enemies shoehorned in. I guess that made for less combat variety overall, but I found the combat to be one of the less enjoyable parts anyway.
  • I've had this complaint about similar treasure hunting stories in the past, but after all the clues and globe-trotting to find this treasure, it was sitting around in a pirate ship that looked to be pretty easily accessible to anyone who happened upon it (ther cave it was in opened out to the open ocean). It also seemed like there were a number of clues along the trail that anyone could have figured out without having to know anything (e.g., the statue of avery with a looking glass pointing at the island with the treasure on it).
  • There was one scene towards the end that came across as utterly ridiculous in the context of the game. Sam has that Nadine lady at gun point and the Rafe guy is like "He won't do it. They wouldn't just kill someone in cold blood." We murdered like several dozen mercenaries in just the last hour leading up to that scene. What?

BTW, Wren: One of the challenges in chapter 9 is a to perform an action that doesn't show up on your map at all and is easy to miss. It's called Time Well Spent. The challenge doesn't really give any indication of what you're supposed to do. Powerpyk has it in his video at 6:02.

I didn't bother doing all the challenges yet. May not go back to them.
Most of them are pretty easy. A lot of the weapon masteries are a piece of cake as well. If you haven't upgraded something completely yet, once you do you get a weapon challenge which is like "kill 10 demons with a headshot" or something along those lines, depending on the weapon. The rune masteries can take a while, though. I've got 1 or 2 runes left to master and I think 3-4 weapons.

Homefront getting pretty bad reviews so far. Enjoy your free game, Mild.
TB reported that even with his very high-end PC he can't maintain 60fps at 1080p, so that's not a surprise.

I'm not seeing a way to filter Metacritic by platform reviewed. Is that not something they let you do? With as wildly as performance and technical issues can very on PC vs console vs console it seems like a big mistake to just lump all the scores together. The blurbs that mention a platform all say PC, so I wonder how much of the poor score is because of the bad optimization they've got going there.

Hover your mouse over "Games" and pick "PS4". Also when looking at a game, at the top it lists other platforms it's on. Click Playstation 4 there.

Xbox Reddit poster said the performance/framerate was similar to the beta, so completely terrible, not unlike Perfect Dark on N64.

Gotcha. 58 for PS4 specifically. The reviews are all 50-71 rather than having a bunch down at 10 like the PC version. Sounds like the gameplay isn't very good at all. Shame.

One rather bad habit I have when playing and intense shooter like Doom...I tend not to blink enough.  My eyes get watery and hurt when I finally do close them.  Man I am a mess.

So after probably two, maybe two and half hours of trying to beat that big brute fucker and his giant ass gun on the rocking cargo ship in UC3, I finally defeated him and all his buddies.

When I signed off last night I was stuck in some ballroom bullshit right after that with snipers and grenade launchers and no fucking clue how I'm gonna get past it on Crushing.

I may just have to pop it down to Hard.  Hopefully the light of a new day will allow me to power through it, but jesus goddamn.

Dude, seriously, if even I can make it through on crushing, you can. Man up and get it done.

Yeah I know. I plan to give it another hour or two tonight. Just venting. An d yeah it's the scene Therm posted the video of right above your post. I'm past that first initial section where you stealth kill the dude on the table. My checkpoint loads me at the far end of the room by the stage where there's a weird cover thing going on and not much ammo. I'll watch the rest of the video later for tips, but I can already tell dude is an infinitely better aimer than me.
