PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

New Gamefly sale: https://www.gamefly.com/#!/store/preplayedsale?cid=sn0516lvl0&adtrackingid=cmju029

I don't see any particularly good deals. AC: Syndicate for $20 isn't bad, but it'll go lower eventually.
Once again I managed to line this up perfectly with my lunch hour. Especially impressive when you consider that both my lunch times and the gamefly sales don't have set start times.

Probably would have grabbed Wasteland 2 for $9, although people in the other thread said it's pretty glitchy.

Ejecting discs is serious business.

Never knew there was this much confusing/controversy surrounding them.  I just figured it worked like any other eject system that existed throughout time.  And I still figure that.

The other dumb thing with the eject button is that putting a disc in via that before logging in doesn't seem to work right. I put in Ratchet that way the first time and it never showed up on screen and didn't start installing. I had to eject it (with the button) and then put it back in, then it showed up. There are definitely some dumb things about the PS4.

EDIT: I mean I ejected the disc already in there, which also powers on the PS4, then put the new disc in, then logged in.
I think that is an issue with ratchet and clank because I had the same issue but have never had that issue with any other disc.

You can manually eject a disc from the PS4:

https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/get-help/help-library/system---hardware/disc-drive---ports/manually-eject-a-stuck-disc-from-your-playstation-4/

Doesn't require power. Shouldn't be powered when you do this.

You'll probably never need it, but if that was your worry then this has you covered. Leave the disc in and save yourself some trouble!
My PS4 and games are literally 1-2 steps away from each other on either side of the TV. Thanks, but I think I'm fine.

Does anybody actually watch this?

Edit: That's way taller than I thought it was.
It was a little shaky going in the beginning, but the later part of the season improved things. It was also much more violent than I expected.

Pretty much, and I wouldn't be surprised if a GotY edition was announced at E3 to bundle all of the DLC together.
But doesn't the DLC suck?

I added it to my cart, but I think I'll hold off for now since I have plenty of other disc games I can play first to see if it gets a deeper sale. Isn't there a big Batman anniversary coming up too?

Yo Harry, this "Braves fired their manager today" thing reeks of Major League (the movie) level shenanigans.

What say you?
I've been calling for it for a couple years now. I hate that fucker and the only reason he was still around is because he had Bobby Cox's support. He can't manage a bullpen or fill out a lineup that makes any sort of sense. I don't think anybody could win much with the current roster, but he really blew it when the roster was pretty stacked.

That seems extremely unlikely. It's a game disc like any other. Plus I've had it happen before, though admittedly I can't remember for sure if it was the same setup. But the game not jumping to the front or not showing up at all has definitely happened to me with other discs.

Ahh ok. The article I read about the firing on Deadspin had a different take:

"The Braves clearly had no plan to compete this season, but González, who’s consistently won when he’s had talent to manage, got the hook for his team’s 9-28 record anyway, even though the roster was stripped of real major leaguers. Perhaps the issue is that gifted players like Freddie Freeman, Matt Wisler, Julio Teheran, and Arodys Vizcaíno have actually played well."

I didn't know enough about him so I thought I'd see your take.

I don't know that it's worth $20 to a casual fan of fighters, which is what the majority of the people in here are. OTOH, Amazon is giving $22.54 TIV and it's definitely worth breaking even (after taxes) for a play-and-flip.
and don't they usually do a super-spiffy edition with all the DLC later? Weren't there something like 3 editions of SF IV?

Should I buy Tony Hawk 5?
I've posted about it before, but you could do worse for $10. I mean it's the worst Tony Hawk game (outside of those ones that came with the board controller, I assume..never tried it), but it's not like there are a bunch of other skateboarding games vying for your attention. They patched it a few times and I think a lot of the really bad bugs mentioned in the reviews are gone. The slam move they added to grinds makes it control kind of wonky, and level design is pretty lame, but all of that aside I still got some enjoyment out of it. Each level is strewn with collectibles to find (skate letters, hidden dvd, etc.) and there are a bunch of little challenges to do, some of which are interesting.

Been casually save scumming Digimon while working to try and get an item that boosts exp gain. Going on an hour+ of resetting the damn game, either the RNG gods hate me, or this is really dumb.

I always take my disc out of the system, put it back in the case, and put the case back on the shelf in my basement, even if I know it's the next thing I'm going to play (I'll leave it out if I know I'l play again in a few hours, but that's rare). Then I turn the light off and on 3 times so that I won't die.

I always leave my discs in the system as well.  Have ever since...well ever since discs were invented?  Never had a problem.

Now that I said it out loud I am probably fucked though.

THANKS VIG!

On a side note I really hate playing disc based games now if only because the damn disc gets so loud when playing games like Doom. The system sounds like its gonna fly across the room!

I don't get why this happens. Isn't the entire game installed to the hard drive? After insuring the license, can't the disc stop spinning?

we'll see if they hold to it, but they're swearing up and down that there will be precisely one version of SF5 (i.e. no super/ultra/etc editions). they'll probably do digital bundles with dlc, but they may or may not bother doing another disc run. they're following the killer instinct x1 model with 'seasons' of characters and one annual balance patch that affects gameplay (along with regular bug fixes) making it very tied to being online. I wouldn't be surprised to see the core game eventually $5-10 or even f2p digitally.

why are you asking me? I dont fucking know why! all i know is its loud!

Seriously its only every now and then but damn Doom makes it spin a LOT and FAST.

Yeah I just leave my disc in. It's really really weird to me that people take it out every time. But to each their own.
If I had younger siblings who used the system I would probably take the disc out every time in case they ever tried to jam a disc in there when there was already one in there. Also to make sure they wouldn't take the game out to put another one in and then not put it away properly or in the wrong case.

I have known the buttons are there but never remember which is which.
I've always assumed everyone turns on their PS4 using the controller, which would essentially mean only people inserting discs would need to know which is the eject button. If this Ben guy mainly plays digital then wtf is he complaining about? He should join the CAGcast.

I've wondered this too - I think there's been one or two games I've played that keep accessing the disk while playing but I thought it worked like you said.

I take the disc out when I want to sell it or put another disc in. But yeah if the wife were putting blu-rays in I'd absolutely put mine back in the case because she can't be trusted.

Mine is silent. :whistle2:k

Im replaying checkpoints over and over to master my weapon mods in Doom. Is that as bad as save scumming Tyler?

I was playing Doom nearly all day yesterday so it may have just been the fan making all that noise I guess, but I dont remember Ratchet doing that when I played it all day a few weeks ago.  So I thought it was the disc.  Who knows, all I know is it gets loud!

I have played many digital games a long time too like Bully recently and no noise.  Or a lot less from the fan.

I think it's the fan making that noise, not the disc. ???
I thought this at first too but I had my ps4 on this shitty metal ikea shelf and when the disc drive spins it shakes the whole shelf and when the fans rev up (like in rocket league menus) it doesn't. that was my very scientific way of telling the difference.
