PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

Cause everyone loves the weather around here, Tropical Storm Colin aint doing shit to us yet.  And we probably wont feel much of the effects of it since we are inland.  But the coastal areas and anyone living in low lying areas are in for a lot of flooding.

Also a buddy of mine who works for the bank in NYC sent me this and talking about the storm gives me good reason to post it.

I've never actually played XII but I've been looking forward to the HD release to give it a try. Hopefully it'll be almost as good as FFIV, which is the best in the series by far.
I never played 12 so I'm happy to get a chance to. My PS2 days were very short lived.
cool, ff12 is the only one I haven't played and I always thought it looked good. If it's anywhere near the quality of the ff10 port I'll be happy.
Seriously, I really liked FF12. I think I played it more than any other FF. I remember I played it well over 100 hours trying to level and just mess around. I never do that in games, let alone JRPGS. I really liked the gambits you could set up that auto battled all the low level shit. And anytime you wanted to step in you could quickly and easily. Even better were that all the enemies were out in the open so you didnt have to wait for battles to load. The load times for all the battles on the PS1 versions of the earlier FFs were terrible and why I never got to replay my favorite FF6.

If they really improved the load times along with the graphics I will be happy to replay it. I just hope they didnt go messing with the gameplay too much.

Which FF10 port, though? :wall:

I'm happy enough with the Vita version for the most part (though I wonder if the shitty loading screens are in the PS3/PS4 versions) but the slightly-later and slightly-improved PS4 version is still a bit annoying.

I do love accidental weather report wangs. Funny stuff.

Getting on a plane in about 6 hours and I'll be on my way out of this state for keeps. I'll be sure to keep you guys updated on the overall hotness of the flight attendants.

The vita version was the superior one. So that one.

Vig mentioned it earlier and gave a Gematsu link, but here's the blog post for Yooka-Laylee which hits Q1 of next year:

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016/06/06/yooka-laylee-soars-to-ps4-in-q1-2017/

Looks like some great 3d platforming fun with some weirdly-noticeable framerate dips. Hopefully they get that sorted out.
Awesome. Wasn't this originally set for an October 2016 release, or am I thinking of some other game?

EDIT: Looks like I was right: http://gematsu.com/2016/06/yooka-laylee-delayed-q1-2017-e3-2016-trailer

I played some rocket league with one of my kids and a friend of his who was visiting. I hadn't played for a long time. Why didn't anybody tell me about the rocket labs arenas? Fun! But later I went online to play those and most people aren't playing them online. You have to wait a while and even then you usually end up with some bots mixed in. I did have some all-human games though. Fun stuff, but I'm still pretty bad at it.

The most important part of that physical octodad release announcement is that they've sold one million copies so far.

Crazy how many trailers/announcements will come out this week. Publishers know that they can't keep anything a secret to E3 anymore, so better to release the info now and still be in control of the message.

Seriously though I'm so hyped for Horizon Zero Dawn despite it's crappy name and crappy box art.  And once again I'm fine with the delay till next year to make it better and bug free.

#H(Y*23)+(P*42)+(E*16)

There's not gonna be any trailers left for E3 at this point.  I hope they don't just show that Horizon trailer again.  But it'll be cool to see on the big screen I guess.

No gameplay = I don't care. That's my biggest E3 pet peeve, anymore.
Agreed. Gameplay will be shown later this month:

GN will have new previews of the game over the course of the next month, where they’ll reveal the game’s connection, “if any,” to the Saints Row universe, what players will actually be doing minute-to-minute, and what kind of people its characters are. Their coverage will also include first-ever gameplay footage and a hands-on preview.

Sounds like GAF is already coming around to the shortcomings of UC4.

Spoilers of course.
That guy is just an idiot complaining gamer anymore. He says all these things that he is disappointed in and acts like they are pretty bad but still says its an 8.5/10. Okay guy.

Seriously though I am glad I played all 4 games in a row to truly appreciate how good 4 is. Yeah it isnt perfect but the set pieces were just as good if not better than 2. The train was incredible for its time but no where near as great as we all try to remember it. It was just more Uncharted when playing all the other games at the same time.

Damn. I thought Yooka-Laylee was supposed to be full of collectibles. Guess it is just an early trailer since the game isn't out until next year.

Uncharted is just held to a higher standard. Of course UC4 is a good game, dude is just pointing out the reasons why it's not a great game. Which is what people expect from the Uncharted series, regardless of if that is fair or not.

Despite what that guy said, I enjoyed playing UC4 twice more for the rest of the trophies, though it was mostly cathartic after Crushing legit.

Yeah I get that but when he compared it to Uncharted 2 I realized that a lot of his disappointment has to do with rose colored glasses. I would probably feel the same way if I didnt go back through them all. But since I did I now think 4 is the best of the bunch.

UC4 is probably my favorite in the series, but mainly because I've really liked these characters since the beginning and both the writing and pacing felt perfect.

Back from my California trip.

The area around Tahoe Lake is really beautiful and pristine. Lots of fit, outdoorsy people there. I don't  think I'd like living in in area that's just for tourists and where the closet civilization (Target, chain grocery stores, etc) is 40 minutes away.

Bachelor party Super Bowl weekend hype! I cant wait.

Where are you seeings these framerate dips? I want to learn what to look for so I can be like all the cool kids with robot eyes.
Around 0:19-:20 when he rolls up the hill and then jumps. Around 0:42 when he's sliding down the ice and the camera is being moved around. Around 1:07 when he's rolling up the ice cramp. Around 1:12 when he's holding onto his little buddy's feet and the camera is moving to show the scenery below. There are others but those are all fairly easy to see.

In all those cases the animation seems to stutter a bit and as a result has some slight jumps where the intermediate movements are missing. It could be something on my system's end, but I'm able to rewind and see those problems in the same repeatedly so I think the issue is either a problem with the trailer's encode or the game itself.

Destructoid liked Mirror's Edge Catalyst: https://www.destructoid.com/review-mirror-s-edge-catalyst-365373.phtml

8.5/10

In my estimation, there's about 10-15 hours of story, 50 hours of collectible bullshit, and endless amounts of free-running to be had. Multiple times in the past few days I've popped it in just to mess around and find new routes, and I can foresee plenty of rainy evenings doing just that.
But it's been quite the journey, as Mirror's Edge Catalyst is one of the toughest reviews I've tackled in some time. It was so hard to acclimate to the changes and suffocating AAA mentality after the original was near perfect, but I think once people get over that initial shock, they'll come to adore it in spite of that.
IGN was disappointed by it: http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/06/06/mirrors-edge-catalyst-review

6.8/10

The staples of Mirror’s Edge remain refreshing and unique in the first-person genre in 2016, but Catalyst’s attempts to keep up with the open-world Joneses don’t always jive with its design strengths of movement and momentum. On top of that, muddy-looking console versions and a lame story filled with unlikable characters doom Mirror’s Edge’s return to fall short. I was so happy this game was being made, but in the end I’m just as disappointed in how it turned out.
Gamespot thought it was OK: http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/mirrors-edge-catalyst-review/1900-6416446/

7/10

Catalyst may not be the best looking game out there, but it runs well enough to keep you invested in the action.
And really, being able to focus on and enjoy the gameplay is what matters. Yes, certain portions of the game are deeply unimpressive, but I rarely (if ever) found them frustrating, painful, or unavoidable, which allowed me to overlook those elements and enjoy the unique pleasures Catalyst provides. I was consistently wowed by the movement and everything that comes with it, so while it's a disappointing action game, it works wonderfully as a platformer, puzzler, and racing game. And for that reason, I can't wait to keep playing.
