PSP 2000 or 3000

Hello, I'm new here and I was wondering if there were any deals on either of these two as I'm very interested in getting a PSP to play some games in particular like MGS: PW, VC2, GoW, and others. I don't have much to spend and $100 is probably my limit at the moment. I've checked around here and most of those deals are finished. Ebay isn't that great and I don't really like craigslist. Anyways, thanks for anything you may come upon.

if you want to find a cheap psp the 1000 would be your best bet. i've had one since launch and it still works fine and the size really isn't that bad. i know they had a few deals on refurb 3000's with a game $99 but i'm not sure what happend to thte threads or the deal for that matter. sorry that i couldn't help much, i'll try and find a few threads when i have a bit more time tonight.

edit: michae was right about the price, sorry for my wrong info.

Dell tends to have the 3000 on sale from time to time, but that's only for $20 or $30 off the $169 retail. Cowboon had the Gran Turismo, Rock Band and Ratchet & Clank PSP bundles for $99 used a month or so ago (reference thread here), but now it only looks like they have a used 3000 by itself at $101.95.

Yeah, I checked that place before I even posted the thread. I believe the guy doesn't have anything for me to charge it with which is why I didn't go for it. As for the 1000, I've heard that the 3000's screen is better when it comes to contrast and color.

I think you should consider giving Craigslist a try. You can try out the system yourself and at worst, the battery may not be as optimal as it once was but that would be the case with any refurb unit. It's not like the unit would work one day and all of a sudden become inoperable the next.

I would get the 1000, but I really want to know something, how do the games on the PSP 2000 or 3000 look like when on a full size TV? Is it stretched and fugly? The real reason I want a PSP is to play games on it. Not really interested in anything else. I don't care about custom firmware, emulators, skype/microphone, or movies. Is the screen really that big of a difference? I also don't think I'll be taking it with me anywhere except for maybe over a friends house for Peace Walker if even that. I just want it to be another source of portable gaming goodness and if the other quirks from the 3000 aren't really that big of a deal from the 1000 then I'll go for it instead.

im not sure what is different about the 1000 and the 2000/3000 but the screen is fine for the 1000 as long as your not playing in direct sunlight then it gets a bit hard to see, when i play mine in my house it looks fine.

The kmart guy listed some upcoming inventory clearance sales on PSP bundles.

I prefer the 3000 because if you use a standard PSP battery, you get much longer battery life than the PSP 1000. You'll have a battery bulge on the back of the PSP Slim, but overall it's not too bad.
Does the screen on the 3000 still "ghost" or did they fix that?
I don't have much experience with the PSP, but I've been playing Outrun 2006 and MGS Portable Ops with my Peace Walker PSP 3000, and the screen is fantastic. I remember seeing PSP 1000s with horrible ghosting so bad that I refused to buy it, and now the 3000 makes me so happy.

I'm not saying that it's amazing, but it more than satisfies me.
