PSP as home console with dualshock 3

CAGiversary!
Can you hook up a PSP 3000 to a TV via the AV cables and plug in a Dualshock 3 via a cable with mini-usb on both ends and turn it into a home console? Is it that simple?

What you need to turn the PSP into a home console

A,)PSP GO

B.)DS3

C.)PSP GO component cables

D.)PSP GO cradle

E,)PSP standard (not GO) AC adapter

The PSP GO component cables plug into where the PSP GO AC adapter plugs in, so if you do TV output straight from the PSP then you will be running it on batteries. With the cradle it has the PSP GO AC port and a standard PSP port, so you can connect the component cables to the PSP GO port and the Standard PSP AC adapter to power it.

Don't get too excited, even with a PSP Go hooked up to your TV and using a DS3, games look like ass on an HDTV; they weren't meant for HD graphics.  PSP runs at 480x272 resolution, half that of the Vita and far below any modern console.

This is not an issue, and I'm not saying you are intentionally, but most of the other threads about this have been threadcrapped by trolls pushing their own assinine and patronizing views about it instead of being helpful. I've played gameboy games on a large screen TV with no issue. Hell, the whole 8-bit genre of indie games is based off of blocky graphics. The PSP has a few exclusive games I want to play, and no I am not going to get neck and finger cramps and get even more near-sighted to play them when there's a couch and a big TV in my living room.

Well my statement is not "threadcrapping" or trolling; I own like 7 PSPs (across all models, 1000, 2000, and 3000) and 4 PSP Go's, and am a huge fan of the system. I bought the cradle and tried to play games on the TV, and it sucked. Everything plays in a tiny window on the TV screen, and looks blurry/crappy. I don't think you'll understand until you see it yourself, if you buy the Go, cradle, and component cable and set it all up.

But by all means, try it out for yourself. And please, come back to this thread and give us your honest opinion, once you do set it up. I'll be interested to see if you feel its worth it.

There is also an optional F.)Track down one of those Playstation branded, 24" LCD 3D TVs, they apparently have a PSP mode to make it full screen.

What might be a better option is to wait and hope Vita TV is released in North America as it pairs with a DS3, streams from your PS4, Streams video, plays (some) vita games (physical and digital) and most PSP games and retails for the equivalent of $99. That will likely be cheaper than tracking down all those individual PSP GO components.

It's a shame one can't import it, but it's region locked, it only works with Japanese PSN accounts.
