PSP Battery Issues

I bought one of those blue NFL PSPs from a friend a while back. Worked ok except the battery would be dead if you left it alone for a week without use. The other day I charged it a few hours to play something but the PSP wouldn't turn on. I figured the battery was finally shot and ordered a 2200 mAh battery kit, the official one. I got it today and I've been charging it for horus and still my PSP won't turn on.

As for the charger I'm using, it's a used Gamestop USB cable going from the USB to the AC adapter port. The charging light comes on and everything, but my system won't turn on.

Anyone encountered this before?

The only way to charge a PSP with a USB cable is to first turn the PSP on and have it set either manually or automaticly to USB mode with the USB cable inserted. If the PSP is off or won't turn on it can't charge. Go get a real PSP charging cable and the PSP should charge just fine.

After a few hours of charging, the system works now and the battery is at 26%. I think I'll buy an actual charging cable though, it's gotta be faster than this USB charger cable.
