I read in IGN.com that you could play custom soundtracks on any game from music that you download into your memory stick. I have not been able to find out how, does anyone know if this is true? If so, how does it work?

Sure do,............ play your PSP in the car, with the stereo on.
Or,.... by your computer, for the most customization possible.
:)

:O
Yeah,........ let me know too,..... as it'd be pretty neat.
:)

After two seconds on Google..

in fact, the psp doesn't even support custom soundtrack mp3 capabilities in games (other than putting MP3's on your DUO and playing them from the PSP integrated menu) Sorry guys, but it had to be said.

Well I think it's worth keeping in mind that these are still launch games and arnt likely to have every feature we'd like to have, if it's possible at all it'll probably show up later.

The whole 4 MP3s I can jam on my 32mb is just retarded!!!! The files are bloated, to waste resources,... I imagine to disallow for competitive strategies against future MP3 players, Sony may relese to combat iPod.

???

Who knows? I do want some custom tracks though. Bring the sheot!!!

Even though it'd take a bigger memory stick to do so with more than a couple of songs, I think custom soundtracks in PSP games would be pretty cool. Maybe it'll happen somewhere down the line.

Interesting questions on the recent GAP survey from Playstation.com

6. Would you be interested in being able to update a game soundtrack after you have already purchased the game?

7. Would you be willing to purchase additional music for the game after previewing it from the game menu?

8. Which scenario is more appealing to you as a gamer? Please choose one:
- Creating a personalized in-game soundtrack from music you already own
- Downloading updated exclusive music tracks selected by the game publisher

In light of the information about updates for Wipeout (vehicles, tracks and music) maybe they really are hoping to add the ability to create custom soundtracks... assuming they get the right answers from us.

i love finding old CAG threads on google :) do any current games support custom soundtracks? i heard the new wipeout was going to.

I believe TOCA 2006 allows custom tracks, but don't quote me on that.
um guys... the PSP can use custom soundtracks. From what I know:

Untold Legends II
Wipeout Pulse
I don't think you noticed this is a thread from early 2005, I didn't even realize until I read xplode's post.

Only a few PSP games let you do custom music...GTA LCS,GTA VCS,and that ATV game...I think thtas it

whoops...I didn't notice it was old either...lol

I tried the "Rockstar Custom Tracks" program to make a custom soundtrack for Liberty City Stories, but it took *forever* to rip a CD (and it had to be an actual CD, since it won't convert MP3s). However, in retrospect it might have been because the combo drive on my PC was getting close to death. I've since replaced it. Has anyone else had success with this program?

You do not need it, hacks for the PSP have become so sophisticated you can play files from the Music folder while playing a game without any problems. As an aside, almost any game with music formatted like the Burnout Series' and GTA have can be decompressed so that you can add your own converted music.
