PSP GO price drop to $149.99

If you want to play PSN games for the next 6+ months I don't think it's a bad idea. It's not like it is a complete $150 sunk cost considering there will probably be decent TIV deals right before the NGP comes out (just like there is for the 3DS right now).

Well, not really. The lack of a true gaming interface (buttons, analog sticks, triggers) cripples these touchpad-only systems. No way in the world will an Ipad ever approach the gaming pleasure of a true handheld like the PSP, or a true console like the PS3/X360. What really is the Ipad, nothing more than a slim LCD touchpad, no keyboard, no buttons, nothing. Like a small laptop without the keyboard. Its a joke for games, regardless of the touchpad and motion controls. It has a big screen, yes; but that's about it. As for games, no way it comes even close to the PSP or the big consoles.

Oh, and the Iphone and Ipod touch are a waste as well; ripoff proprietary systems, overpriced and underwhelming. Easy pass on those. I've never cared for ANY Apple products, and never suckered for their sheep appeal.

Plug an Ipad into your TV and you have a better (or even somewhat desirable) gaming system than the PS3 or X360? Never going to happen . . . so, I don't think so.

I'm sorry, but no matter how good ONE GAME is for a platform, it isn't going to be enough to have that platform considered better than tried-and-tested REAL gaming consoles (portable or home-based). I'd rather have a game system developed FOR GAMES, than a gimmicky touchscreen widget that is trying to appeal to all different kinds of functions. Just no comparison at all. But I've passed on all Apple products for years, they're all overpriced and not worth it IMO, and I haven't missed anything. For true gaming, none of their stuff stacks up at all. Sorry.
 
The iPad is a different type of gaming device for playing a different type of games than you play on the PSP or NDS.

With the large touch-screen interface, you can play games on the iPad that would be unplayable on a button controlled handheld. And you can play games on the PSP/NDS that are unplayable on the iPad.

Some people only want to play certain types of games and if those games are designed for the PSP/NDS, then they shouldn't waste their money on the iPad.

However, other people want a device that can do a lot of different things AND play some games. The games designed for the iPad work fine on the iPad, and if you are satisfied playing those games then the iPad is a great device for those people. And the games on the iPad may fulfill all of the gaming desires of this group of people. After all, there are many different types of games because there are many different people that like different things.

Both Apple and Google have shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is a huge market for touch screen based games. But w/o buttons, there are a bunch of games you won't be playing on an iPad (or at least you won't enjoy playing if they ever released them for the iPad because of severe ergonomic problems).
