It's not contradictory at all. I'm simply saying:
1. Any statements about the relative quality of games are opinions, therefore the idea that the PSP has no good games is not based in fact.
I know I'm being a bit abstract here, so I appreciate your good will on this.
Now, I happen to agree that the "PSP has no good games" statement is not accurate. But, that said, if we accept that all such value judgements are subjective, then we can't argue that while "the PSP has no good games" is opinion, the opposite ("the PSP DOES have good games") is fact -- which is a mistake many make, even in this thread. Your own post, where you say the PSP-lacks-games view is simply a matter of opinion, ends on a 180, with "The PSP has some truly fun great games!" I'll say it again: you can't have it both ways.
2. Even if you agree with the commonly accepted idea that reviews are a good way of judging the quality of games, it's still not based in fact, since there are a lot of well-reviewed PSP games.
That's fairly true. I prefer to get my aggregate score from gamerankings, rather than a single site (per the OP), personally. Now, one could also argue that there are issues with the ratings games are getting for various reasons (for example, portable versions of already successful franchises scoring better than more hit-or-miss, built from the ground up games, even if just out of familiarity to the reviewer) but that's a whole ’nother can of worms.
So no matter how you look at it, there is no scenario that I can think of where "the PSP has no good games" is a true statement. Does that make sense?
Well, I'd argue that it's true in the same world where the Xbox had no good games beyond Halo, and Nintendo is for kids, etc, etc. They're no more "fact" than the point we're debating now, but it's a world the vasty majority of gamers are more than happy to live in. I respect and commend your desire to not accept the common wisdom at face value, as long at it's applied across the board.
