PStwo - techie's special....defective console?

Liza

CAGiversary!
edit: nevermind. im going to just see what my options are, just as another forumer suggested. i just didn't want to wait months for a replacement. the pstwo is cool, but not that cool to hold out on months of gametime :{.
Why arent you just using that $30 warranty?
yeah, isn't that the point of getting the BB warranty??

/wonders that as well

You won't have to go through a "hassle." The worst that will happen is that BB is OOS and it takes a while to get the replacement.

Unless of course while fiddling with it you voided the waranty.

here is what was explained to me when i purchased the warranty...

i would only be able to use it on the exact same packaged pstwo system. which seemed fine and dandy since new ps2's are notorious for being defective and i figure these new slim ones would be as well. seeing as how there is a very high demand for them now (which i didn't think there would be), how long do you figure it would be before I received a replacement at BB? I called them up tonight and they said "not for a long long while." So I don't know what else to do...Couldn't they be able to just give me store credit even though I was told I could only get a replacement on the pstwo?

Maybe I had a CSR that I didn't understand too well.

I'd wait and actually get use out my $30 warranty (plus it's got an original 12 month warranty from Sony) before I let someone tinker with my system and instantly void any warranty it carries.

Yes. I'll do that tomorrow. Sorry for sounding like an idiot. I guess i jsut wanted to get rid of it since I didn't understand the warranty at all.

That's what stores like BB count on when they lure you into the PSP/PRP. Don't let them get away with it.
PSTwo's are going for $350 on eBay?
"cease fire" i think shes on our side
plus it's got an original 12 month warranty from Sony
Sony and MS warranties are 90 days. Nintendo is 12 months.

I was being serious. I can definitely see it happening if there was a shortage, being Christmastime and all.

Last time I checked it was around 170 shipped, it'll probably end up around 200 the closer to christmas it gets (assuming sony doesnt magically speed up production)

Read your warranty.

you call a 1800 number
tell them your ps2 is "freezing up" and/or whateevr the problem is.

they will take down your info and mail you a prepaid Stamp.

you pack up your ps2 and crap in a box place stamp on it. and go to the post office and get a tracking number (45cents for tracking number)

in 7-14days youll get a BB voucher for whateevr you paid for the ps2 +tax

you can use the voucher to buy anything in the store.

case closed.

have fun.

and repeat when u buy new systems. (ds,psp,ps3,xbx2,etcetc)

problem, BB is completely out of pstwo's so the OP would at best get a normal PS2 not the slim kind.

And when you do that, the PRP on it becomes null and void. One-time use only. It covers giving back the replacement cost plus tax of the item, and it's for anything in the store. Basically a gift card, as it's store credit. I'd only do that if it's beyond the 90 days of the warranty.

If it's less than 30 days, take it back to BB and have them ship one in for you. Deal direct with the store manager or operations manager. If they can't find one and it's still within the 30 day period, then just return it. If it's from 31-90 days, deal with Sony and escalate it to a supervisor.

the slim ps2s are the "normal" ps2s now.

i dont see the problem.

if he wants an old ps2 he can use ebay or gamestop/ebgames.com for used ones.

if he wants a new pstwo he will be able to buy it at bestbuy.

fun stuff

and yeah if its within 30 days he obviously can return it (receipt) and deal with em in store.

It isn't. She was looking to trade it, and she seems to have reconsidered.

Which is good, she'd loose a lot had she done that.

Incorrect. The PSTwo carries a year warrantry.
