After just playing the game a little bit it has become apparent that this game has been made to sell not because it is good but because it is a good concept and it looks good in motion.
The game itself looks great, the graphics are on par with burn out legends and jumping from car to car is pretty damn great.

However this game is plagued left and right by horrible game design and mediocre driving controls. There isn't even a handbrake and the brake button is pure BS since it practically stops your car if you tap on it. The inculsions of the throttle button seems to be pure useless and the game probably would have been more fun with just a slowdonw button and steering.

Even the 3rd part of the first mission will have people going WTF at the retarded ways you can die, I mean how exactly do you throw off the sniper sight from you? It seems like this game copied various elements from GTA without doing them well at all but instead making them tedious.

And the worst part is there are NO checkpoints in any of the parts of missions. So say in one mission you boringly follow or drive to the location which is a pure waste of time since the driving is not fun at all, then you get there and you complete some task there, then you have to chase the badguy by another vehicle and it has that annoying sniper mechanism. Well then if you don't get lucky you have to try that whole part over again. I find this lazy game design somewhat insulting to gamers. And to make matters worse it seems every level has that filler portion at the beginning where you just have to drive to the point which you have to REPLAY because of thier lack of care for game design. Just try this game for a bit and you will realize what i'm talking bout.

I guess it's most upsetting because they had a good concept and they threw it totally off and wrecked the fun out of it with crappy game design and oversights on control. I swear they didn't even gametest this product from the way it turned out.

And of course u'll have bugs where your car will magically run off the map into some oblivion which is very strange because the game will continue as you drive around clipping through random things.
I'd say the ratio of crap games to good games on all consoles overall is about 6:1.
That's probably pretty fair when looking at the grand scheme of things. Sometimes it can be hard to remember the good things when a never-ending stream of expensive craps comes out for a system though. Sorry to hear this one is trash.

Wow, and I was really looking forward to this game.

Oh well, this saves me more money to put towards 360 games. Thanks OP with the review.

Are we still talking about the PSP?

Because it's had about two months of decent releases so far, starting with Virtua Tennis and ending with GTA.

ok after playing this game a bit more I don't take back what I have said in the previous post. Yes it is insulting for the devs to have not put any variable in difficulty and they will probably see some problems with that. I have a decent level of skill with games (not superb but not horrid) yet I had problems beating even the first level and had to retry many of the levels, not because it was hard but because of certain circumstances or some car happened to run into me or (this will happen alot) I jumped onto a civilian car because there is so much going on around you. This game has a huge amount of game design flaws which really piss me off. Driving to a point at the beginning of a mission and then doing the next part which is not so hard only to hit a very hard 3rd part and failing and DOING it all over again is NOT HARD and is not REAL DIFFICULTY. It just wastes the player's time in my opinion and is a cheap way to extend gameplay and claim high difficulty. However after a few cracks some of the better elements of the game started to shine through. Jumping from car to car is pretty fun in certain circumstances and creators of some sandbox style GTA games should really look into implementing that feature. The graphics are pretty well polished and you get a variety of weapons to test out. The game does a decent job with immersion. So basically if you can look past many flaws you will have somewhat a decent game to play. However if anyone's played GTA San Andreas... sort of think Supply lines.... on some of the missions. This game could have gone from a 6 score to a 8 easily by including checkpoints and variable difficulty. I let my girlfriend try and after 4 times she couldn't even beat the first level. It's just insane to do that to people nowadays.

And yes, please don't bring PSP thread crapping into this discussion, the PSP has had plenty of great games thusfar and more than the DS in my opinon, but this is not the place to discuss that...
