Quake 4 (x360) nominated for Worst Framerate of the Year Award by Gamespot

Somehow I doubt a patch can fix the shitass framerate...

The game has vsync enabled from the looks of it... Even disabling vsync via a patch would help a ton.
Disabling Vsync is not going to help you as the Doom 3 Engine is locked to 60FPS. Guess what Hz TVs run at?
Sure it will help. I think you are misunderstanding the Doom3 engine and refresh rates.

Seems like most people that actually have the game don't complain about the framerate issue, i think it might be overblown, but then again i haven't seen it on the 360 myself.

Not only do I actually have the game but I've beaten it, and the framerate is horrendous. I wrote up a full review in the reviews section as well.

I didn't even bother with a rental for this game... all the other past quake games in the past year. have been bland! to me...

I don't get it. Two games that are on both 360 and PC (Call of Duty 2 & Quake 4) run at least as good if not better on my PC than on 360, but plenty of games that are on the original XBOX and PC (DOOM 3, Star Wars Republic Commando, Chronicles of Riddick, etc..) run much better on the XBOX than on my PC. What's going on with the 360?

Quake IV was just sloppy porting. They try to claim that it was designed alongside the PC version but you can easily tell that the 360 was an afterthought that was hastily thrown together in order to meet launch.

Are you using 720p with Call of Duty 2? If you aren't then that's the reason why. Standard TV, no matter how good the video game system, it will NEVER look as crisp as a PC monitor. That's the only explanation I can think of because you're the only person I've heard of that says the PC version looks better than the 360 version.

No, I'm not. But regardless, the 3 games I mentioned on XBOX and PC didn't run particalarly well on lowest possible setting on my PC but both Quake IV and Call of Duty 2 run well on medium settings on my PC. I just can't see how those games needed the 360, but the others only needed the XBOX.
It doesn't look that bad.
I agree. I have it and it doesn't seem bad at all to me.

I was playing this game last night, i didn't notice it that bad. Maybe its cause i grew up with N64 shooters and their chug-tastic framerates. It's not nearly as good a port as Call of Duty 2, but it's decent. I wouldn't complain.

If I read this correctly you just said you masturbaitiong on your Quake 4 PC DVD Edition...

...you man are fucking sick.

the real question is did he hit the eye in the middle?

I bought this game at launch and I don't think the framerate is that bad. Sure it chugs a bit, but it's totally playable. It's a fun game, I don't regret buying it.

Well the single player gets progressively worst over time framerate wise. But the multiplayer has little to no framerate loss. So I'm guessing Raven isn't going to do anything about this, because once you push through the single player campaign your most likely not going to touch it again as is.

I played the demo last night and thought it was pretty mediocre, especially compared to Perfect Dark and CoD2, but then again I'm not that into FPSs. It's $39.99 next week AC at BB BTW.

I just got the game today as a late Christmas gift so I am off to check out these issues they speak. I think its going to be a fun game though even if it as a few issues.

Well trust me, if you play it in HD you'll notice an immediate difference. I've played my games on both a standard TV at my parent's house and on my 1080i TV at my apartment and there is a HUGE difference. Even in the XBox Dashboard the letters are a lot more clear and easy to read on an HDTV.

Like I said earlier though, its really unfair to use Quake IV as a standard to compare 360 and PC because it is a horrible, lazy port. Call of Duty 2, when played in 720p, will show what the 360 is capable of in comparison to computer.

In your original post you mentioned Chronicles of Riddick, Star Wars Republic Commando, and Doom 3. Now of those, Chronicles of Riddick is a game that was developed for the XBox originally so of course its going to run better on the Xbox than the PC because the PC version was done after the fact. Star Wars Republic Commando is similar to this example, in that, it is a PC port of a game that was designed with consoles in mind first. Now with Doom 3, no offense, but I honestly don't see how you can say that it runs better on the Xbox than on PC. I've seen and played both, and while the Xbox version is very solid for a port, it still doesn't come close to the PC version.
