Hey guys, I have a quick question. I just ordered something I've been watching on Amazon for a while, it just dropped in price, but it immediately sold out. I still bought it, and it says Amazon will e-mail me when it becomes available. Has anyone had any experience buying an out of stock item from Amazon? Do they ever get in stock again? I don't want to get my hopes up, only to get an e-mail saying they won't be getting the item anymore.

I didn't know you could actually buy an out-of-stock item... I take it they just issue a refund if it never comes back in stock?
As for your question, there's no real way to be sure... it really depends on what it is. What is it exactly? Based on that we might be able to help figure out if it's pending a restock or not.

They do occasionally get them back in stock. I'd just leave the order active because you never know they might get more and then they'll ship it if they do. If you really want the guide, still look for it and if you find it at a comparable price, buy it and then just go back and cancel the Amazon order.

Several people(including me) have the Tales Of Vesperia guide up on their trade lists in the guide trade forum.
You may want to try there. Mind you, now that I know TOV went pretty 'rare' or that people are willing to pay a premium for it, I think 'trade only' is gonna have to change to 'really great offer needed' for my copy.

On the positive side, Amazon will not charge your card until they ship. On the down side, they've been known to leave an order hang like this for months.
Since the book appears to be out-of-print . . . its unlikely that they will ever ship you one.
I've seen them do this before (offer unavailable items) and sometimes it throws off the 3rd party sellers . . . so they will lower their price even though Amazon doesn't have the item in stock. Then you can get it for cheap from one of them.
