is the 14.99 3 out plan the only plan they offer. I been trying to find prices online and it seems you must be a member to see what fees they charge. Im thinking of opening up an account tomorrow or tuesday and trying it out for 2 weeks but dont know if i want to or not

There are 2 other plans; 5 at a time for $27.49 and 8 at a time for $37.49. I couldn’t be happier with them. They are much better than NetFlix with availability and being able to rent 2 games a month for free with the printable coupons kicks ass.

I used the code "COOPER" to get the 4 week free trial instead of the two week, it may still work if you decide to sign up.

For me Blockbuster takes longer for the movies to arrive compared to NetFlix. 3 days with BB and just 1 day with NetFlix. But blockbuster does have the 2 free coupons for DVDs/Games and that's the reason I will stick with Blockbuster Online.

k thanks ... Just dont know if i would want to spend 15 per month on movies. 15 per month or add 2 more movie channels to my cable line up.. THe first printable coupons really are no good for me since i already have almost 1 free year of game rentals at Hollywood video (i got 5 of the coupon pages each one is good for 5 days so 25 days free)

I still might open up an account Tuesday rent 3 free movies for New years eve and then cancell around the 2 of jan to try them out. Would also need to see the turn around time. Right now i got Gamefly and their turn around is around a week (time it leaves my house til time i get a new game) Its just too bad its not VHS tapes i would really do that for 15 a month since right now im doing it for 4 week only movies for 10 per month at Hollywood video (THE MVP cARD)

thanks for the input. I was hoping they had a lower vaule (Like 1 out at a time for 7.98) ALso one more question if you go the high prices do you get more In STore coupons ..

THe 5 out at a time seems to cost too much. I mean its almost double for 2 more movies . I would rather have 3 out for 15 then 5 out for 28... I might wait and see try it out for 2 weeks and see.....

THere used to be a link that helps out CAG though Blockbuster is that link still good.

k thanks I think i will sign up tomorrow under that link and see how long it takes to get the movies. If it a 2 day turn around i might keep it if not I will cancell after the 14 days. Cant figure out where the code goes to get the 30 days

When you click on "try it free" you should get a form that reads:

First Name:
Last Name:
Email Adress:
Re-Type Email Adress:
Password:
Re-Type Password:
Promotional Code (if any):

I did some checking and in turns out if you sign-up through CAG, you won't have the option to enter a code. If you really want the additional two weeks, you must delete your "cookies" (in internet options) then go directly to Blockbuster.com. When you're there, click on "try it free", only then you'll be able to input the code.

Blockbuster also had a few other good deals when signing up....recently, you could get Shrek 2 or Bourne Supremacy FREE when signing up.

I'm enjoying BlockBuster.com also....great service. Just as quick as Netflix and NOW cheaper!

k thanks I figure i sign up tomorrow (tuesday or weds) and pick up a few movies and see how it runs. I just cancelled my MVP at hollywood video since i already rented everything i wanted to rent in their so called MVP group. So i will probally try the blockbuster then. Either way im not really losing anything cause i would blew around 6-8 bucks on 3 DVDS for New years eve heres hoping i can get

Resident evil 2
open water
and either I robot or anacondas by Friday :)
I just cancelled my MVP at hollywood video since i already rented everything i wanted to rent in their so called MVP group.
Can you give me some info on Hollywood Videos's MVP program? I haven't been to HV in a long time.

MVP program= for 9.99 a month you can rent up to 3 movies at one time anything that says FREE with MVP on box (all the old movies and mostly any movie that has been out 4-6 weeks) So if a movie comes out today Said Open water or Resident evil. You wont be able to rent it for free until sometime in Feb 2005.... Its not that bad of a program to join say every 3 or 4 months but its not worth keeping it month after month since in a months time i can rent everything i want.

So far i joined on Dec 10 and rented 18 movies for free. THere is mostly nothing more i want to rent (until the new ones start coming down)

thanks i just joined. I will see how bad the shipping is to see if its worth the 15 per month. I think this is going to be just like hollywood video. You will get bored with it within a month or two since nothing is out there you want to watch

Blockbuster online *claims* 30,000 titles, versus Netflix's 25k. And I've heard if you request an in-print, non-porn, R1 DVD, they'll add it.
The BB B&M rental pass is a waste, i agree, because there's nothing they have in stock I want to watch. But the online should offer a greater selection.

yeap you still get the 2 free movie coupons even with the free 4 week thing..

EDIT . I will probally cancell once my Free is up cause 14.99 per month can hook me up with Stars, the movie channel and Showtime to add to my Digital line up (around another 30 channels)

For me, I feel bored with the movie channels. We have all of the HBO, Showtime, TMC, Cinemax, Starz, HDNet, channels, including the HD ones, but I can't recall the last time I've watched something on there. But I rent Netflix all the time, and after New year's, we're going to try BB.com.
It takes longer for movies to come to the movie channels, and only a relative few are in HD, so most of them are analog, and look worse than the DVD. Plus you don't get the extras or digital sound in all cases.
And actually, most of my Netflix queue is either older movies that aren't on cable, or tv series/anime that are not shown on tv. And since Showtime is killing off Dead Like Me, I have no need for them anymore either.

nice thing here is we now have Video on Demand . what put around 100 or so MOvies up if you have Hbo showtime Ect and can watch them anytime. The Hbo and Cinemax both suck on demand (around 20 movies on Hbo and around 15 on Cin) but Stars (what has around 80) and Showtime (has around 50)

What is weird i opened up an account today and only 1 movie shipped.

I do like On Demand. I used it to catch up on some of the cable-only series. But I've never watched a movie via VOD. To me, online rentals let me watch what I want, when I want.
Today from Netflix I got Elf and The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T. Those won't be on cable anytime soon.

elf is a great show (i got it on DVD as a gift) .. ALL 3 movies shipped

Anacondas 2
open water
and Resident evil 2.

i did the 1 month free deal and will have free until Jan 28 2005. I might keep it for 1 more month and cancell By March ... Lack of movies i want to see keeps me from paying for it.

well im going to wait and see. The movies all shipped out last night and it says they should get here On or around 12/31/2004 (i want them for New years anyways) But i highly doubt i will pay for a service like this if the turn around is 6 days (from time i send til time i get new one)

say it is a week 3x 4 = 12 movies per month tops = 14.95
not really worth it... Its just too bad Netflix didnt give away free months in the mcdonald game like Gamefly. Just think 18 free months of movies and games lol

If the turnaround is 6 days, that's definitely too long, even with 3 movies. However, I would hope they would underpromise and overdeliver; and its possible that this week due to the holiday will not be representative of actual shipping speeds.
I've been really pleased with Netflix's turnaround. If BB.com can match it, I'll go with them for a while.
12 dvd's for 14.95 is still a pretty good deal, per-dvd, if you were going to rent them. And the two free in-store game rentals a month is worth about 13 bucks right there [assuming they have games you'd like to rent]. For free, I could find something.

slidecage: You say they have nothing you'd like to rent. BB.com allegedly offers 30000 titles, Netflix offers 25000+. Are you not really into DVD, or can you really not find anything to rent? I'm not a huge dvd fanatic anymore, but I make full use of my netflix sub just with tv series and anime, and the occasional movie, and the 'buffet style' pricing encourages me to rent stuff to try that I would not rent or buy in a store.

I don't know if they had Criterions [Criteria?] but they had almost all of the anime series that I checked that were on my netflix list.

Once you get a couple of disks, the way to optimize it is to watch a disk, send it back, watch another, etc; we had it for a while there where we almost always had one disk at home, one in transit to us, one in transit from us, so we definitely got our money's worth.
Does Blockbuster carry any non mainstream stuff, like Criterions?
Yep, I believe they have most Criterions. Any in particualr and I'll check for you.

Also, the turnaround has been a LOT quicker lately. They shipped a movie out and I got it the next day. That's QUICK! Of course, make sure where they have a distribution center. Mine is in the state, so it should be quick.

Im mostly looking for New release movies on dvd. Since i rented almost all the older movies i wanted with the MVP program with Hollywood video. THe 2 free in store coupons would work for me big time if I already didnt have 5 Gamecrazy 12 FREE rental sheets (i got 5 systems i sold this xmas) so that is almost Free games for a year. I was hoping the movies would came today (1 day turn around) but nope :( hopefully they will come tomorrow. or Friday at the latest... If someone really needed the coupons Even 6 day turn around wouldnt be that Much if you just rented movies on the weekends .

Avg video store 3 Dvds 2.50 each 7.50 per weekend x 4 = 30 bucks ...

I see; I don't have a gamecrazy or a Hollywood near me, so I can't make use of their deals. My options are Blockbuster B&M, one little local store whose selection and pricing is worse, or online [Netflix for 3+ years]. And I'm not huge into new releases.

I've been a member of blockbuster online for quite some time now. I have nothing but good things to say about the service. :)
Does BB on-line allow for game rentals or do they have to be movies (I know the printable coupon can be for a game)?
You can ONLY rent movies ONLINE right now. Only the In-Store coupons can be used for games (and movies). I feel eventually they will branch out into games....

Game rentals would be cool, if they had a wide selection. But they'd also probably charge more, understandably.
I just signed up using the code for the 4 free weeks, and printed out my two coupons. Nothings shipped yet, but it might take a while to process.
The shipment speed will affect my decision to keep it or not. I put something in the mailbox for Netflix yesterday, and they shipped me out its replacement today. With 3 disks from BB instead of just 2 at NF, I could deal with one additional day in there, but not much more than that, on a consistent basis.

Thanks for explaining HV's MVP program. It sounds like a great deal if you need to catch up on your movie watching, movies that for whatever reason you never got around to renting.

well going to try after the hoildays cause right now i can say I DO NOT LIKE BB Online. I opened an account up tuesday and ordered

OPEN WATER
Resident evil 2
Anacondas 2

shipped on tuesday

Anaconda got here on Thursday
Open water got here today
Resident evil 2 never showed probally monday

THe point is im looking at a 3-4 day window each way or 6-8 day turn around. This is totally way to freaking long to wait for movies. What is even more shocking is the place that its shipping from is just a 3 hour drive. IM in fort wayne the movies ship from michigan. So i called them an asked and was a little shocked at the answer i got.

ANSWER: new release take longer to get then older movies since the stickers are not ready and other problems . That might be why the Anaconda movie That came out on the 22nd took 2 days while the Dec 29 movie releases took 3 to 4 days to come. What is werid though the open water and RE 2 shipped together so you would though they would both got here today.

I had to go out and spend 3 bucks to rent RE2 (they wanted the movie for new years) so im going to send back both movies (all 3 if the RE movies gets here before i leave for work ) and see how long it takes for them to get back.

If its a 2 day each way (4 days total) it would be worth it
if its a 3 day each way (6 days total ) it wouldnt
if its a 4 days each way (8 days total) that would just suck

What im thinking about doing if it is more then 2 days each way is , Cancell the BB account after the free month, Cancell the MVP program by Jan 8 (when my month is up) Waiting till Mid march and reget the MVP program. even with 2 free game rentals a 6 day turn around isnt worth 14.99 per month.

What would be fine if i could send the movies back monday and have the new ones by FRiday since i only watch movies on the weekend. So right now i would have to give BB online a BIG THUMBS DOWN. but since i have 4 free weeks we will see if the service gets better after the hoildays

got my Resident evil 2 movie today 6 days after shipping (last tuesday) I missed the mail today so im going to send it back tomorrow. I sent the other 2 movies back today so By Friday we should see how long it takes the turnaround

I too received RE2 today after the movie shipped last Tuesday, even though it shipped with two other movies that arrived last Friday. I hated the first Resident Evil, hopefully this one is at least watchable. The first 15 minutes of the first movie was enough for me.

man i hated RE2 i wanted to so bad to rip the DVD out of the machine and stomp on it ... Then again i didnt want to pay 25 bucks to replace the POC movie ... RE1 was 10x Better then 2. and there is part 3 coming NOOOOOO

I signed up with them last Thursday afternoon, i believe. Took them a while to process my account, and they send out three disks on Friday. Got one of them yesterday, hopefully will have the other two today.

I respectfully disagree, RE2 is the better movie. I was able to watch "Apocolypse" for a whole 30 minutes compared to 15 for the first movie :D . After the half hour mark, I just fast forwarded to the action scenes, but even that sucked.

Well, BB.com for me has been GREAT. I get my moives 1-2 days after they ship almost all the time. You have to check to see where the DISTRIBUTION CENTERS are though!!!! I'm glad mroe people are switching off of BB.com, thus...more movies for me. I'm definetely keeping BB.com

what is werid is they are shipping from one state above us (only a 3 hour drive) and its taking 3 days to get here :)

Will find out tonight if it takes 2 days to get back since i sent 2 movies back Monday they should get them today... .... Im still up in the air if im giong to keep the service or not since our COMcast just added around 50 old movies to the FREE side to VOD.

If i didnt have the 4 coupons sheets to HOllywood video this would Really be worth the 15 (since i can get 4 free game rentals a month what would be 20 a month just on the games)

sadly i think i will cancell At the end of this month or next unless the shipping starts getting better (and more movies i want to watch hit)

i like hollywood video little more since they have some movies i cant get on BB (might be junk movies but )

Vampires vs zombies
COurpes are forever

2 of the movies i picked up for the weekend. Low bud movies but i thought i try them

Yeah, so far mine have shipped from Gaithersburg MD, which is where we used to get Netflix disks from. THe BB disks [well, 2 out of 3 of them] seem to have taken the same amount of time so far. Netflix is currently shipping from Greensboro, and there's a BB warehouse allegedly in Charlotte or somewhere, which would be closer. When I transfer my NF queue to BB.com, if I don't see many 'Waits', and if the shipping stays like it is or gets a little better, we might stick with them for a while, the third disk [we're only getting 2 from NF] helps make up for a slightly slower shipping time. Still got 2 weeks to see, though.

werid i never knew a store to get mail at 9am in the morning. What i mean is

I sent back

Anaconda 2 (movie sucked sent in monday)
open water (again sucked sent in monday)
RE 2 (wow 3 in a row sucked :) Sent in tuesday)

Checked at 924am

Anaconda 2 got there today (weds so 2 day shipping)
Open water not yet maybe later in day ?
RE2 dont count on it today

I wonder if they get them in a day and it takes them a day to get them process cause i didnt think places got mail at 9am .... Then again that could explain how i bounced a check last month.

Next movies in line

I robot (will probally suck :)
the tom cruise movie
and Ancorman or whatever its called

Yeah, they seem to get DVD's early in the morning.

OR...it could just be THIS:

Is it possible to have more movies in the "Shipped Movies" status list than allowed by my subscription plan?
A: BLOCKBUSTER Online's shipping system allows the postal service to notify us when returning DVDs have been mailed, before they actually arrive at one of our distribution centers. Once the post office notifies BLOCKBUSTER Online of your return, we'll check your Queue and ship the next available DVD title as soon as possible. Therefore, it is possible that your "Shipped Movies" list may display more movies in "shipped" status than typically allowed by your plan.

Thus, the US Postal Service is going their job well. I had a DVD returned today, and they already shipped out TROY today. Pretty quick to me

i think i will cancell at end of free month. Why? well they just sent me the 6th movie in my line up while the other 5 was in stock..

EDIT : they fixxed it must been a pc bug

looks like its going to be 3 days each way (way too freaking long) so im going to cancell by Jan 28 (when my free month is up) if it was a total of 5 days it wouldnt be bad

Send back monday get movies by Satuday would of rock but it wont work. And since i only watch movies on the weekend it wouldnt be worth it (6 movies tops per month)

EDIT : well it SAYS 2 movies Shipped Weds (after sending them back Monday) I ROBOT and Some other movie and TROY has shipped today. NOW if all of them would get to me say by SATURDAY i might consider keeping the service. (5 Day total turnaround) I have no idea why i have CATWOMAN On my List to rent AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
